Alvis 'Shadow' Strike Vehicle Walkaround
The Alvis 'Shadow' Offensive Strike Vehicle came from a joint development programme between Alvis and AM General (part of General Motors) in the late 1990s. The aim was to combine features of the Land Rover and the HMMWV, specifically the size and off-road capability of the HMMWV with the reliability and ease of maintenance of the Land Rover. Powered by a GM 6.5L V8 turbocharged diesel engine, the Shadow had a top speed of 75mph (120kph), and the vehicle was designed to be air-portable by the CH-47 Chinook or C-130 Hercules aircraft. Sadly Alvis received no orders.
This Alvis Shadow, one of only two prototypes built, was at the Tanks, Trucks and Firepower show in 2024.

WW2 Daimler Armoured Car Walkaround
Просмотров 8621 день назад
Many fans of the Daimler Armoured Car know it from the classic Dinky toy version. Designed by BSA (Birmingham Small Arms), the full-size vehicle incorporated some of the latest concepts for the time - welded, monocoque construction, four-wheel drive, and no chassis but independent suspension. It was handed from BSA to Daimler for production, and was powered by Daimler's 4.1-lit 6-cylinder petro...
Abbot Self-Propelled Gun Walkaround
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.Месяц назад
The Abbot 105mm self-propelled artillery gun served with the British Army from 1965 to 1985, and for longer with the Indian Army. Around 230 were built. The L13A1 gun could fire a variety of ammunition and had a range of 10 miles (17km) - the distance was controlled by the size of the propellant charge. Weighing in at 16.5 tonnes, the vehicle had a top speed of 29mph and could swim at 3 knots w...
WW2 Sherman Firefly Walkaround
Просмотров 1792 месяца назад
The Sherman Firefly was the first Allied tank of WW2 capable of knocking out the German Tiger or Panther, using its 17pdr (76.2mm) main gun. Mounting the 17pdr anti-tank gun in the Sherman had been discussed as early as January 1943, but the feasibility of the idea was not demonstrated until November of that year. The 17pdr needed to be turned through 90 degrees so that it could be loaded from ...
WW2 SdKfz 10 Half-track Walkaround
Просмотров 1,4 тыс.2 месяца назад
The full German name for this light half-track is Leichter Zugkraftwagen 1t SdKfz 10 Ausf B Typ D7. It was designed as an artillery tractor capable of towing a 1-ton load and was the seventh in a series that had begun development in the early 1930s. The D7 was in production from 1938 to 1944, and the chassis was also used to mount anti-aircraft and anti-tank guns. Demag, Adlerwerke, Büssing-NAG...
FH70 155mm Field Howitzer Walkaround
Просмотров 5032 месяца назад
The FH70 155mm towed field howitzer began development in 1963. Initially a project led by the UK and Germany, after the operational characteristics had been agreed in 1968, Italy joined the collaboration. The howitzer entered service in 1976 but needed modifications and came into full service in 1980. The FH70 had a range of up to 19 miles, a burst capability of three rounds in 15-20 sec, could...
WW2 Comet Tank Walkaround
Просмотров 2803 месяца назад
The A34 Comet was designed by Leyland Motors in 1943. Mechanically it was similar to the A27M Cromwell, but the aim was to mount the 17pdr (76.2mm) anti-tank gun and increase the thickness of the tank's armour. A prototype was ready by February 1944 and the Comet entered service with the 11th Armoured Division in early 1945. Production ended in May 1945, by which time 1,200 had been built. This...
WW1 Traction Engine Walkaround
Просмотров 1403 месяца назад
I was surprised to find this Aveling and Porter traction engine at Tankfest 2024 at The Tank Museum. Named 'Clyde', it is technically a 6nhp (nominal horse power) YLD class compound road locomotive No. 8471, and was completed by Aveling and Porter Ltd in Rochester, Kent, in December 1914. Clyde's WW1 service involved hauling three wagons of stable manure from the horse lines at Aldershot to Hal...
Chieftain with Mineplough Walkaround
Просмотров 4554 месяца назад
The Chieftain main battle tank served with the British Army from the mid 1960s to the late 1980s. Anti-tank mines are always a threat to tracked vehicles as they can damage a track immobilising the vehicle, as well as injuring crew members. This Chieftain Mark 5, on display outside at The Tank Museum, is fitted with a Pearson Engineering Track Width Mineplough, which was designed to slice throu...
OT-64 SKOT APC Walkaround
Просмотров 2805 месяцев назад
Jointly developed by Czechoslovakia and Poland in the late 1950s and early 1960s, the OT-64 SKOT was an amphibious 8x8 armoured personnel carrier that came into service in 1963-64. It replaced the OT-810 half-track and was roughly equivalent to the Soviet BTR-60. Czechoslovakia provided the engine, transmission and axles for the OT-64, while Poland built the hull, turret and on-board weapons, a...
WW2 Jagdtiger Walkaround
Просмотров 875 месяцев назад
Just 85 of the 75-tonne Jagdtigers were built by Germany late in World War Two. Although the 128mm gun could destroy any Allied tank at ranges of over a mile, the massive vehicle was too heavy for its engine and transmission and often broke down. As the Germans retreated, immobilised vehicles had to be abandoned. This Jagdtiger was built in July 1944 and used for trials at the Sennelager testin...
WW2 DUKW Walkaround
Просмотров 5156 месяцев назад
Based on GMC’s CCKW 2½-ton 6x6 truck, the DUKW had buoyancy tanks for flotation, and a single propeller that provided propulsion in the water using a duplex-drive system similar to that used on swimming Shermans. The DUKW's purpose was to resupply forces in a beachhead after an amphibious landing, and various people in the US were involved in its development, including yacht makers, a deep-wate...
FV180 Combat Engineer Tractor Walkaround
Просмотров 2026 месяцев назад
Dating from the 1970s, the FV180 Combat Engineer Tractor (CET) is a fully amphibious, air-portable engineer vehicle. The CET was affectionately known as the 'Frog' in British Army service and differed from previous engineer vehicles in that it was specifically designed for its task, rather than being a modified tank. The crew of two, driver and commander, sat in tandem on the left-hand side of ...
WW2 VW Schwimmwagen Walkaround

The Volkswagen Type 166 Schwimmwagen was a light 4-wheel drive amphibious car built in Germany during WW2. It had a top road speed of 50mph (80kph), and a top speed in water of 6mph (10kph) propelled by a screw propeller that hinged down at the back to engage drive from an extension of the engine's crankshaft. Produced from 1941, over 15,500 were built by Volkswagen and Porsche. This Schwimmwag...
WW2 25pdr Field Gun
Просмотров 8977 месяцев назад
The Ordnance quick-firing 25-pounder gun/howitzer served with the British Army and Commonwealth forces from 1939 to the 1960s, and was the main British field gun of World War Two. The gun's main ammunition was high explosive, but smoke, anti-tank and star shells were also used. During set up, the 25pdr was pulled onto the circular firing platform, which transmitted most of the gun's recoil to t...

Very cool
@@badas45 Thanks! A vehicle that stayed in use long after WW2.
That absurd fence they've put around it means that I and others will decide that it's no longer worth going to see that monument. I don't know whose idea it was, but that wasn't their best day.
Thank you so much for this amazing video! I have a quick question: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
Fact: The Germans often removed the wheels and tires from abandoned vehicles. NOT because they were short of them. They did it because the US, USSR and UK were suffering from and acute shortage of rubber. Hence the massive tire "donations" each held where they literally stole the tires from the civilians of their own countries as well as countries theyr rapists invaded in their bid to occupy besiege, loot, rape and oppress Europe. The Germans had vast stockpiles of synthetic rubber and synthetic oils/ fuels. .fact; 99% of the modern day rubber and fuels/ oils are all based upon German WW2 patents and recipes/ formulas that were stolen by the bad guys in their war which was started by the bad guys i.e. FDR, Churchill, Stalin, Smygly, Daladier in order to steal everything of value from Germany
They have really restored these tanks well, its crazy.
I am surprised that the museum doesn't have a Panzer IV running, but the Panzer III and Tiger I are great to see in the arena.
Amazing video, thanks for the walkthrough.
Thanks - one of my favourite tanks!
I am official jagdtiger enjoyer.
@@getAPFSDS Excellent! 😁👍
Agreed. I just love the sheer size of this things. Amazing.
@@HighPingHero It certainly has a presence!
Thanks for sharing! Great stuff.
@@OTDMilitaryHistory No problem! 👍
When you see me smiling in my new supra, i am dreaming of Schwimwagon!!!!❤❤❤
Looking at the insignia, would say this is Polish, possibly 1st Polish Armoured Division?
Exactly right - check out my description. This was in fact a training tank, but now painted in the markings of the 1st Polish Armoured Division 👍
@@cormorantmilitary Many thanks for your kind info. I should not have said 'possibly' as my Dad was with General Maczek going over to Normandy likely in late July 1944 and over to Belgium and Holland and then onto Germany finally stopping in Wilhelmshafen where the 1st Polish Armoured Division was given the honour of seeing that Jerry behaved himself. Yes, and as a kid I remember Dad mentioning Cromwell tanks and on the technical side I find the cut-out around the gun mantlet quite intriguing. Take care!
@@jozefbubez6116 Many thanks for sharing that - very interesting! I love the Cromwell and pleased you enjoyed the video 👍

NA PODVOZKU TOHTO VOZIDLA SA PODIELALA AJ TATRA KOPŘIVNICE
Видел такой лет десять назад на выставке ретро-техники, видимо, еще с ленд-лиза остался. Своим ходом приехал на мероприятие. Классный внедорожник, интересные решения применены и брутально выглядел, как и большинство военной техники.
Ah yes, many were supplied by Lend-Lease!
Boy what you 0:27
In the background? It’s a British Chieftain. There’s a walkaround of it on my channel.
Où est,Sammur?
These were at the Tank Museum in Bovington, Dorset, UK. You can see the Saumur Renault FTs in another of my videos.
Ok, muchas gracias, el FT de mando es la primera vez que lo veo en algo que no sea una foto. Muy buen trabajo.
I have always thought that an M3 or an M5 would be awesome if it could be out fitted with a LTD465 multi fule engine.
Now there’s a thought! 😁
Всё современные танки это старьё, обвешанные новыми разработками.
Very nice video! Do you own this one?
Thank you! Not mine, just on display 👍
Was in the garage broken when I went welljell.
I think they had some problems with the fuel system a while ago.
Beautiful! Wow, wich color is it?
Not sure of the name of the colour, but overall green.
Olive drab
Thought the Chieftain broke down there for a minute.
Luckily not 🙂
Excellent job!
Thanks! 🙂
Как да отворите въздушен компресор на резервоар T72
I don't know, sorry 🙂
Plant on it?
If you mean the bundle of sticks, it is a fascine and was dropped into a trench before the tank crossed over it.
Love the anchor (wonder how they used that), and a nice view highlighting the small footprint at the end.
Apparently the anchor was towed behind as the tank advanced, snagging and ripping up the barbed wire making it easier for the infantry to get over it.
Looks good
Looks great.
Thanks! 🙂
Gotta love the 54\55.
This is T54, it was the best for it's time!
wow my husband being a veteran got me into his hobbies and Tanks was his passion.
Even as a russian , i have to give this beautiful creation a like ❤
It's an excellent replica, although the modern engine sounds a bit odd 🙂
Tento stroj už má protiatomovou ochranu, dva roky jsem seděl za jeho pákami.Super mašina.Velký dojezd, dostřel 15 kilometrů.Mohutné pancéřování a v podstatě nízká hmotnost.
Interesting - thanks!
Wow nice tank🎉🎉🎉😊😊
Good thing these tanks never pushed through the Fulda gap.
Very true!
Hi
FIRST POST!!!!!!! THE TROOPS ALSO KEPT THEIR MEDICINES IN THEM, THAT IS HOW THEY GOT THE NAME "PILL-BOX"!!! I MAJORED IN HISTORY IN COLLEGE AND NOW HAVE MY DOCTOR'S DEGREE IN HISTORY, SO IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS I AM RIGHT HERE - JOLLY GOOD!!!!!!!
Good thought, but probably nothing to do with medicines. This is an excellent article on the origins of the word in the First World War: languagesandthefirstworldwar.wordpress.com/2018/02/26/pill-box-pillbox-pill-box-whats-in-a-name/
@@cormorantmilitary YES, THANKS!!!
Thanks Phil. That driver's position looks SO uncomfortable! Are there more walarounds coming? Maybe the Saint-Chamond?
Thanks Jon! Yes, agree regarding the driver's position! More walkarounds coming, but that was the only one from Saumur this time.

Only simple after one sees it. And actually over 3000 years old.
Not 3000, but since 3000 BCE, so already 5000 years old. Apparently the ancient Mesopotamians used it to irrigate water from the river Tirgis
Hi i gave a gift to fury
Nice video, beautiful weather, summed the day up well. Just out of curiosity are any of the 'friends' allowed to film from that vantage point or some special dispensation/ticket?
Thanks Mike! I have to pick and choose as there are so many great vehicles on show. I think that there is a slight reduction to some tickets for Friends, but I'm not aware of access to 'that vantage point'. I would love that to mix with the footage from the main wall and, as you'll have spotted, the exit from the tank park.
Dont use the name plz
Where is it and how much costs one locomotive and 2 carrige and rails
