FH70 155mm Field Howitzer Walkaround

The FH70 155mm towed field howitzer began development in 1963. Initially a project led by the UK and Germany, after the operational characteristics had been agreed in 1968, Italy joined the collaboration. The howitzer entered service in 1976 but needed modifications and came into full service in 1980.
The FH70 had a range of up to 19 miles, a burst capability of three rounds in 15-20 sec, could fire 6 rounds/min for a short period, and fired 2 rounds/min sustained. An on-board 1.7L VW engine powered the hydraulics and allowed the gun to move up to 12 miles without an artillery tractor. This FH70 was at the Tanks, Trucks and Firepower show in 2024.
