    Rotator did zero deliberate damage, thus rotator didn’t deserve all of the damage points. I feel like in this instance, aggression and control overlap each other. Rotator was on its side the whole time so he wasn’t delivering his weapon in a controlled manner. At that point the driver for rotator could just turn on his weapon and put the controller down and still get aggression points, it makes no sense. What I’m saying is rotator didn’t do enough deliberate damage to earn full damage points as per the guidelines and wasn’t in control at all, thus showing almost no aggression. I think beta clearly deserved the win but the guidelines being so weird stunted that a little, but even with the guidelines in place i think beta still deserve the win

    Great video, I was wondering if you've considered putting something like that cone for a future Bloodsport design?

    • @JustCuzRobotics
      @JustCuzRobotics 15 дней назад

      Bloodsport is different since it uses a dead shaft which doesn't spin for the weapon. Subtraction has a live shaft so the weapon and cone both spin. If I could use a self righting pole or static element that may actually be better. Bloodsport relies on its weapon torque to self right with a fixed pole but that means it doesn't need both drive sides working like Subtraction does.

    Honest question, how much of a difference do you think the weight bonus made in the overall competition?

    • @JustCuzRobotics
      @JustCuzRobotics 15 дней назад

      That's a good question. Honestly it's hard to say. The minibot ban itself was very consequential as many teams had intended to use them for an advantage. We learned kinda last minute about the bonus making it very costly to redesign a whole robot to optimize for the new limit so I think most competitors either added more weight in armor and replaceable parts or had some slightly heavier weapons or something like that. That said some robots were designed from the start to have a mini-bot and were overweight without it like Knock Off White and Chainsaw Kitty. One really contentious one was Dutch Oven which is massive and complex and like KOW it uses both the nontraditional locomotion bonus and minibot bonus to have a 5lb multibot normally. They have a minibot with an igniter on it in case the igniter on the main bot fails and were not allowed to use that mini. I know Beeforce was also supposed to have a mini to help tee up opponents and weren't allowed to use it. Sombra also was just below 3.3lbs as they had some improvements made just for this competition though I don't what. I am sure that the last minute change affected things but it's hard to say for sure to what degree. It's just pure speculation to say the outcome of a specific fight would be different with or without a mini or additional armor.

    On a bot like subtraction, is it possible to incorporate an inverted aerofoil into the weapon design such that it would generate a little extra downwards force and counteract the gyroscopic forces, or is that just too complex/wouldn't provide enough lift to make a difference? My entirely not an engineer or builder brain is thinking that you're not making use of the middle section of the weapon most of the time as a weapon itself, so as long as you don't compromise the structural integrity I'd think it could add I touch more stability without adding weight, but maybe that's just too much to balance in the realm of machining and optimization

      That will probably be fine if you stay in the limits of the voltage described in the product listing for the motor. Not sure if its the same one but I googled "N5065-400kv" and the first aliexpress listing just says "Recommended ESC 80A" so 100A should be okay. They really needed to clarify what grants points in the damage category. They keep saying it's based on damage done by the primary weapon. Hydra never fired its primary weapon. So that's 5 points for huge right off the bat. I'll grant Hydra gets 3 points for control. But when Hydra had an argument with the ref about whether he was allowed to literally let go of his controller mid fight, you cannot tell me Hydra got all 3 aggression points. Huge was trying to fight the whole time, if it got even 1 aggression point it should win unless Hydra somehow got points for damage.

    Nice work! Do you have the link for the modified screen enclosure? Thanks

    This is a very interesting hub motor design. I like how compact it is overall. I looked at your website at the specs and couldn't find approximate torque specs of the motor/esc. It is a simple test. You mount the motor on the edge of a table using a string wrapped around it. Use a small bucket and add weight until the motor can't lift the bucket. Measure the weight after and that is the torque. Sand makes a good measurement weight.

      That test doesn't really work for sensorless brushless motors since they aren't capable of delivering any reasonable stall torque and their behavior is entirely dependant on the ESC they are connected to. I will test spinup times with weapons as a useful metric as that gives more relevant data with the specific esc I sell
