    So apparenty there was a rain delay on a baseball game on ESPN: The Ocho a while ago so the NHRL segment was pushed back to 11:50pm :(
    HOWEVER - Looks like they will rebroadcast it twice, Aug 3rd 2pm, and Aug 5th 9pm.

      Well I had a second spare robot so it wasn't too bad. All things considered the damage could have been way worse if I didn't tap out.

    though im shocked they only want a half hour when a whole event would definitely be worth broadcasting

    Honest question, how much of a difference do you think the weight bonus made in the overall competition?

    • @JustCuzRobotics
      @JustCuzRobotics  2 месяца назад +2

      That's a good question. Honestly it's hard to say. The minibot ban itself was very consequential as many teams had intended to use them for an advantage. We learned kinda last minute about the bonus making it very costly to redesign a whole robot to optimize for the new limit so I think most competitors either added more weight in armor and replaceable parts or had some slightly heavier weapons or something like that.
      That said some robots were designed from the start to have a mini-bot and were overweight without it like Knock Off White and Chainsaw Kitty. One really contentious one was Dutch Oven which is massive and complex and like KOW it uses both the nontraditional locomotion bonus and minibot bonus to have a 5lb multibot normally. They have a minibot with an igniter on it in case the igniter on the main bot fails and were not allowed to use that mini. I know Beeforce was also supposed to have a mini to help tee up opponents and weren't allowed to use it. Sombra also was just below 3.3lbs as they had some improvements made just for this competition though I don't what. I am sure that the last minute change affected things but it's hard to say for sure to what degree. It's just pure speculation to say the outcome of a specific fight would be different with or without a mini or additional armor.

    Great video, I was wondering if you've considered putting something like that cone for a future Bloodsport design?

    • @JustCuzRobotics
      @JustCuzRobotics  2 месяца назад

      Bloodsport is different since it uses a dead shaft which doesn't spin for the weapon. Subtraction has a live shaft so the weapon and cone both spin. If I could use a self righting pole or static element that may actually be better. Bloodsport relies on its weapon torque to self right with a fixed pole but that means it doesn't need both drive sides working like Subtraction does.

      @@JustCuzRobotics Okay, that makes sense though I still think self-righting is an issue for Bloodsport

  • @deucemoose7852

    On a bot like subtraction, is it possible to incorporate an inverted aerofoil into the weapon design such that it would generate a little extra downwards force and counteract the gyroscopic forces, or is that just too complex/wouldn't provide enough lift to make a difference?
    My entirely not an engineer or builder brain is thinking that you're not making use of the middle section of the weapon most of the time as a weapon itself, so as long as you don't compromise the structural integrity I'd think it could add I touch more stability without adding weight, but maybe that's just too much to balance in the realm of machining and optimization
