    When Jeremy was at Robotica 2022 I asked him “how was your last fight?” and he said “I (sandstorm) spent 3 minutes ceiling shotting a D2 kit and the D2 won.” I immediately become horrified at both the power of Sandstorm and the durability of D2 kits.

      Haha. Personally I think D2 is an outdated design, I built my own control/lifter kit SSP to basically beat a D2 in every aspect. Exposed wheels just don't cut it for a control bot these days IMHO.

    I can attest to Unknown Avenger being a brick. When Scrapper S3 hit its front, it was so hard the screws pulled straight out of my beater.

    I was right to be afraid of ur SSP kits. One swept a comp in Tennessee recently.

    I think the gearbox broke just because Will was driving it.

      Maybe, but that doesn't change the fact that I would like the bot to survive worse impacts than that!

    You should make a beetleweight huge

      Jonathan Shultz already made one called Tiny Huge! It's even fought at NHRL years ago, in fact I even fought it with Division! Check out some of my oldest event recap videos for that one.

    Why is a can of butane on wheels is so damn horrifying. And driven by one of the best in the sport. Makes everyone buy aluminum tape just in case😵‍💫

      Making bots from plastic is so cheap and easy, flames are a very hard counter to so many bots

      Exposed battery is considered dangerous, a bot having a flame thrower isn't?

    Awesome fights!!! Hope to go up against Division one day! I have my own drive setup with 1806 brushless motors at the moment with a custom planetary gearbox very similar to yours. The gearbox has a 2mm shaft that I solder on a 13t brass pinon after applying acid flux. That seems to do well but eventually, say after 5-10 fights, the pinion will "strip" and rotate on the shaft resulting in almost no torque being generated due to the pinon spinning on the shaft. Have you seen this happen with your gearmotors, what did you do to overcome that? If you can't say and it is proprietary I understand and perhaps I will buy a few when I run out of my custom ones. Thanks!

      So back with Division V2.5 I also made a custom gearbox with a spur gears et and 1806 motors and I had exactly the same issue you are describing. The solution unfortunately is to have correctly and precisely toleranced motor shafts and pinion bores so they make a correct press fit

    i want to get started to combat robotics. What kits do you recommend for beginners

    • @JustCuzRobotics
      @JustCuzRobotics  Год назад

      I designed the SSP Combat Robot Kit to be the best place to start in the 3lb weight class. You can check it out on my website! If you are looking to start small than 3lb, take a look at Turnabot (150g) and Fingertech Viper kit (1lb)

    NHRL Should Start local competitions in other location's, these can be handicapped leagues. So that beginners don't have to go up against Seth schafer or some other high ranked Player on their first go. This way people can earn their way into the NHRL main completition in connecticut. With only the top 128 Competitors getting a place in the connecticut venue.

      I have told NHRL I would like them to have a 'rookie league' several times. I totally agree it would be great. They are planning to host events in more locations next year so we will see how that goes. They also have one event each year called the new bot event, though veteran competitors frequently win there even if they are running a brand new robot.

    What do you think about getting solid machined shafts with integrated gears on them so the gear and shaft are one part that would make it stronger but the downside is you can’t adjust the meshing and placement of the gear but it would be something to look at

    • @JustCuzRobotics
      @JustCuzRobotics  Год назад +1

      That won't work, the gears need to spin independant of the shaft in a planetary gearbox in order for the gearbox to operate. The shaft has a carrier plate and pins attached which the planets rotate on.
