    It was a blast fighting you and SSP. I also appreciate your contributions to the bot community. My wife is a proud owner of a SSP and it's always my first suggestion as the kit to get for new builders

      Despite literally being some shameless self promotion this is a really solid control bot. Good defense but the only real weapons are a lifting arm and driver skill. Something perfect for beginners to get the fundamentals down

    At this point I am convinced that SSP starts its day with a bowl of horizontal spinners weapon belts.

    About the commentators for the blackbird fight that makes sense why the control shown is so good. To even have a basic control of something like division takes a lot of skill due to how unwieldy that is by nature basically being a horizontal spinner being used as a vert
    Edit: more on the lifter issue from blackbird that’s also a major lesson. Give the motors some slack to have a lower risk of a poorly timed burnout.

      The servo burning out was a weird issue to track down. It really shows that bench tests and combat tournaments are very different conditions. There's nothing like sending your robot into the arena to figure out what is gonna break!

    SSP is looking great. Have you thought about running SSP along side mini Mulcher as so many robots are fielding minibots at NHRL

    • @JustCuzRobotics
      @JustCuzRobotics  Год назад +4

      Mini Mulcher is a pretty terrible minibot as it hits everything and too uncontrollable. If I redesign it to not suck as much then maybe. But I would need another driver.

  • @mineman8496

    I wonder what SSP could do with the wedge and high speed fly wheel inplace of the lifter arm

    • @johnathanclayton2887
      @johnathanclayton2887 Год назад

      It looks pretty easy to redesign if you want to have a go at it. The weapon would likely be underpowered though since you'd still need all the weight from the drivetrain

      There are a few people who have done this and done alright! There might even be a spinner attachment in SSP's future...

    Based on your experiences with the bot so far, which spares and how many would you recommend for this specific kit to compete at NHRL stock/unmodified?

    • @JustCuzRobotics
      @JustCuzRobotics  Год назад

      This is a tough question to answer. What breaks will really depend on how good of a driver you are and what types of opponents you face. Lids and screws are the main 'consumables', the TPU arms and arm forks are also damaged sometimes. I would always recommend having a minimum of two batteries so you can swap rather than charging between fights. And it's usually a good idea to have a spare ESC and drive motor in case something terrible happens so you aren't totally out of the competition. Each chassis has lasted me over a dozen fights even against really tough spinners but your mileage may vary.

    I hope they make it a two days event because I wanted to go back there and it isn't a guarantee I will be admitted anymore.

    • @JustCuzRobotics
      @JustCuzRobotics  Год назад

      They seem to be doing one 2 day event per year but this year they didn't increase the cap past 160 even for that. It's clear however that NHRL will expand within the US to more locations in the future. Which should take some of the load off the Norwalk location.

    Hey question for all you big smart people out there as I have a idea of a battle bot I am wanting to make but not to sure if it really would check out, I have the idea of using a precision gearbox to make a dual rotator synchrocopter themed weapon is there a way to reverse the push of the blades to not life of the ground but keep it firmly pushed down meaning I can just go mad on the weapon size and motor while not worrying I have created the worlds deadliest flying bayblade? Plz no steal idea ;)

    • @JustCuzRobotics
      @JustCuzRobotics  Год назад

      I don't know if I understand what you are saying exactly. If you are asking if you can use a weapon blade as a propeller to add downforce then the answer is mostly no. You have two problems:
      1: a weapon blade is a really terrible shape and material for a propeller and a propeller is a horrendous shape for a weapon blade. The sharp edges would chip and dull and thin profile would probably snap.
      2: the RPM you would spin a weapon blade at in a combat robot would usually be too slow to work efficiently to create lift or downforce, and just spinning faster causes a host of other problems to deal with

      @@JustCuzRobotics Damn I got a bunch of kinda rare parts from my neighbour who owns a scrap heap. In it is what I think is a gearbox to run what looks like a model synchrocopter and it was a heck more powerful than I was expecting so I was hoping to make something copter inspired, rotate the gearbox 180 and push down not up, I got the idea while looking at some of Mini mulcher's spectacular mid air acrobatics and some comments about how much force would be required to keep it grounded, and since I have been theory crafting a idea on how to get max spin out of a tiny bot without setting of into the sunset.

    • @JustCuzRobotics
      @JustCuzRobotics  Год назад +1

      Usually rare and hard to replace parts are not the sort of thing you want in a combat robot that will get destroyed 😂

      @@JustCuzRobotics Idk what else to do with em :/ Just always wanted to try my hand at making a battle bot and if I was to do it, I would rather try to be innovative than buy one to put together. Do agree with wtf do I do if the teeth break and suddenly that 0% chance for the blades to collide becomes alot higher lol. I had another idea for a bot what I wanna called Gear Golem which is alot more practical it's low to the ground and meant to latch onto and then act kinda like a cookie cutter sorta weapon take out chuks from the top, I saw stuff like thunderchild and was one super impressed and two thinking alot of those bots are flat topped possibly allowing a hammer with a small hole in the center to deform the metal as it strikes, or possible take a small chunk out, so basically a super deadly cookie cutter hammer thing (I'm not very good at explaining my idea's via messages so apologies for the bag grammar ect)
