The Piece Of Dive Gear That You Are Missing - Save A Dive Kit
How does this not have more likes??
You can go so fast with those motors. I got to upgrade my skills.
If this is to be apples to apples tier list, you shouldn't mix in specialist brands (JJ, Kiss- they only do CCRs; Shearwater - only computers), otherwise, we could start listing drysuit makers, other computer brands, only torch makers and list OrcaTorch on S tier. Thats not helpful. First, you should establish a clear criteria for which brands are on the list in the first place and why. For a general purpose tier list you should only have large enough brands that do at least regs & BCs/Wings + other stuff, IMHO
In outro you should have showed the full tier list final version, and maybe review/reavaluated if still stands. Also ranking within each tier would have been a good touch, expected for tier lists. Great comments, otherwise
I think you missed Seac, SoprasTek. Otherwise - yeah, not much to disagree with there. A bit surprised about OMS, but I might not know too much
I think Zach was spot on about Cressi - solid C. They dont make anything exciting. Its just fine. If I end up with Cressi something I will be like "yeah.. ok..fine".
Bugs.
Nice! Looking forward to footage from your trip. Random question, outro music... what is it?!
Why not the tx Version of peregrine?
@@EnergiZeScuba I just prefer guages personally.
How do you prep for a dive the day of the dive? New environment, not your normal configuration.
zack brother, any word on files to 3d print an orcatorch headlamp mount?
I'll take a crack at it tomorrow and reply to this comment. Thanks for the reminder
Shearwater's packaging is useless. They are of no use when you attach the wristband to the dive computer. The cases are of no use. I had the original Peregrine - a completely useless device in the Shearwater world, would have directly released the TX model. Next, I got a Perdix 2, the screen went haywire, just flickering lines, less than a year, currently under warranty repair, and when the Perdix broke, I had to buy something quickly. Teric was the only option available. I was on a diving trip and I would have liked to buy the cheaper Tern TX, but I couldn't find it anywhere. For some reason, I have almost only bad experiences with the best brand on the market.
Man that's weird. I've had my petrel 2 since 2014 and it did a couple dives a day 5 days a week for several years and is still kickin.
Sounds very unlucky :(
@@EnergiZeScuba Perdix spent over a week at a local shop before leaving for Canada. They estimate that it will be there for more than 4 weeks, which, considering the travel time, means that I won't be diving with it this summer. The Teric I had to buy in Singapore cost 30% less than in Finland... (Scuba Warehouse).
Great job Zack!
Interested in why the trip will be OC, why is CCR not an option? A walk through video of the kit to be used is always interesting.
We were going with a buddy who's just starting his cave journey, so we thought we'd keep it simple and travel light. It's always good to work the fundamentals. I always love my ccr, but plane old sidemount is good clean fun, lol.
Side note: Can this work as an entry to tec level computer for a more budget minded individual? Gotta save anywhere possible, but I won’t be sacrificing the Shearwater name.
I'm all about saving money, in tech diving you have to. That or be independently wealthy, I hear that's a good way to do it. Lol Yes it can definitely handle technical diving, but it DOES NOT do helium or CCR. So if either of those are in your future, it may not be the right choice unless you have another use for it like I do.
I’m stuck with open circuit sidemount so this sounds like it will work just fine. I’m wanting it primarily for advanced wreck. If I win the lottery, or get hit by a truck and live through it, I will definitely switch to CCR!
I’m sold! I love my Teric, but I want something with bungee and a larger display. Does this work with the Swift AI transmitter?
They just came out with a slightly more expensive version that does! The peregrine tx. I'll go more into it for the review, but i've been diving it for a few months now and it has been flawless. I almost want one of these with perdix level features so I can use it as a backup with my CCR. I just like the form factor and the rechargeable battery.
@@DiveVibeDefinitely gonna grab one! Thanks for the info!

Something to answer in the review: serviceability. Do they have online training so you can get certified to service them yourself? Are they at serviceable with Hollis (or whatever) kits?
Are you allowed to shoot Roi’s there?
I dont know if its specifically disallowed, but there are a lot of tourists on the water. The roi usually have ciguatera as well and are basically inedible. There are sites close by that would be fine for spearfishing (way less tourists) but the ciguatera problem spans the kona coast.
Some scuba companies added a scuba tank on a full face snorkel death mask . And a fun fact :you fill the cylider with a bycicle pump.😂😂😂
Looool
And here I am watching this remembering my first swim in an olympic size pool and nearly drowned (i cannot go up for 2 minutes and already inhaling water). My co-worker noticed I am still not going up so he grabbed me.
I graduated from Navy dive school and if you lose your tanks you are disenrolled right then and there. You are gone.
Hell yeah bro, must've been hard af. I figured it was something like that. Similar to losing your aidbag as a medic.
Where did you get your assembly checklist from?
My original instructor on the sidewinder, Doug Ebersole. I use the "ccr builder" app now though. It's pretty slick.
@@DiveVibe so there is no like printable checklist online available.
@@pxrcision9285 There is a checklist in the manual on the Kiss website.
didn't they dump like hundreds of thousands of tires into the ocean in the 80s thinking it'll become a reef? if only they tried with like 10 first to check... excellent work guys!
Well I’ll tell you one thing.. once you’re done with OW, there’s not really any emphasis on furthering support skills. They’re just kinda “off you go”. Give them an objective to work on that will develop those skills like maybe work on breathing to stay within 6ft +\-
Going into openwater this week to become a public safety diver and these videos are making me freak out a little😂
You got it brother!
P-Valve?
Just installed one, lol. Diverite low profile, works like a charm.
I watch these videos and realize just how AWESOME my dive shop is. These people are making mistakes they should have learned to handle in OW, this is ADV OW, Our deep dive was two instructors and four students. We stopped at 70 feet because we had a young diver with us and that was the limit. Did all of our exercises and made a good ascent with the required safety stop. This dive looks out of control from the very beginning.
For a TRAINING DIVE, this looks like a shit show right off the rip.....
I prefer a large knife. Cagro nets, Mooring ropes. large things that are tangle risks are TOO BIG to cut with shears or a small knife. I have a medium sized old school dive knife and its just right.
you didnt mention zeagle, I have a pair of their fins and love em, other than that IDK....
Realise it's an old video (thanks for it by the way) but I have just taken delivery of one of those reels that you hate - yes it's cheaply made but it seems to work (on dry land) and yes it's bigger than I would like but it was only twelve and a half dollars so it is replaceable. I can see how the plastic could break, but I can't see how for rec diving it's any worse than one of those little reels that you put your inger into to provide the spindle - when I used one of those recently, on my OWD course, the instructor had kittens :) as she though it was not running freely and was worried it would pull me upwards.
Laser is a great method for a long distance SMB flag… should be a must on drift dives… laso motion up into the sky at night and it’s a lot more visible to watercraft/aircraft (for when your REALLY fucked)…
Aweee yah big bussy
This made me laugh so hard
Just got a new dive computer and am working on a 3D printed bungee mount. You just added to the project.
Oh nice! Send me a pic!
I did it with the compass, compass on top and dive computer on the inner arm
Great idea!
Oh my gosh, i had no idea divers used computers. What are they for? Depth tracking?
Yes, they display lots of info and also calculate how long we can stay down without needing to decompress or how long we need to decompress.
Omg. OMG. how can you do this and say you didnt harm the creature?!?!
great tips! trilobite cutters also have pouches that slide on to the BC straps, very handy.
Was the torch I was wanting, your video has now sealed the deal!! Thanks for your great videos.
Awesome video!! Thanks 🙏
UPDATE! If you park along the ocean and you aren't a fisherman, YOU WILL BE TICKETED!!!! Well.... YOU MIGHT BE TICKETED!!!!

I think Scubapro should have been an S simply because of their regs and masks. Top quality
Since I made that video I am actually using mostly scubapro regs, so I'd have to agree their regs are an S for sure.
I have quite a few dives with this light now. I wasn't sure how I would like it but it is very handy for running line and especially for using my wetnotes during deco to do sudoku. If you point it at the ceiling it lights up the deco shelf at Ginnie very nicely. I just leave it on my hood and fold it up when not in use. I have not had any issues with blinding my buddy as I usually have it pointed at my hands not out in front of me. I recently 3D printed a Gopro quick release base for my Blacktip to mount this light up near the nose cone. I need to get it in the water soon to test it out.
Very useful (and funny 😂)
Glad you liked it!!
Can you build a bi axial canister with this? lol I’m so curious
in the 80's it wasn't uncommon to find OWI that were Mil divers. it was a different kind of class. Funny thing is the harder the class the longer the diver was likely to still be diving. I remember mask rip and air shut off's. swimming with bricks over our heads. good times.
Just recently made a discovery: Those blue drygloves (without cuffs) we all love to hate? A pair in a DirZone bag with an added pair of the saddest undergloves = 49 euros. The _exact_ same gloves (made by Showa) from a hardware store under "chemical/oil protection" = 4,99€.
