Thankfully i am lucky to be in a dive club that are not lazy and don't do ego. i am very thankful to our technical divers willing to share their knowledge about maintaining dive equipment. cheers from sweden!
I am a beginner diver who really wants to start off with the right foot. I've started to get my very first pieces of gear (mask, fins, computer and DSMB so far, not cheap), and I want to take care of them, so I appreciate a lot videos like these where experienced divers like you share some of the things you've learned over the years.
Be careful with pools. Always rinse after a pool session. I have had gear get a copper layer on the metal bits because the pool had a huge amount of copper phosphate in it. That was just one session! Sometimes I don't wash all my gear for a few hours and I just drive home and do it there instead. I wonder if this few hours is enough to cause salt buildup.
I commonly stop for lunch on the way back from the dive site. I think about this all the time when im enjoying a beer (post dive beer is best beer) waiting on my food. Is my gear being eaten away in the back of my truck while I stuff my face? I think its fine as long as it's a solid rinse afterwards and attention is paid to the moving parts. Thanks fam.
Hey bud, thanks for the video. I never knew we could actually rise bcds out. I assumed it might break it so I only did it once when I came back from a really silty sea dive, and I crapped myself afterwards for a little while, but now I know I can unscrew the BCD inflater hose and properly wash the bladder+dump valve
Thanks fam! Yeah, nothing wrong with running water through your bcd. There is actually a product that adapts the end of a water hose to fit the quick disconnect on your inflator, for turbo cleaning.
Enzyme cleaner is awesome, drill bit attachment for water agitation and the best tip for tank corrosion is coating them in special sealant. My mom ran into you at the shop.
What fins do you recommend for size 13 wide I can use them with my dive boots but when I try my dry boots I use size 15 and but my RKT fins are too tight
Those ubiquitous black storage bins, with the yellow lids, are great for most scooters. My Genesis 600 fits perfectly in one and I can soak the scooter and run the prop, both for rinsing effectively and also for burning up excess battery charge for storage.
Awesome video. I’d love to see some content on rebreathers, especially someone just looking to get into them. I’m considering rebreathers and as soon as I started researching, I realized there’s just so much I don’t know. Every time I start to try learning something there’s another wormhole to fall into of info I don’t know.
Right on. Thank you! I have the next couple videos planned already. Maybe I can make some shorts in the meantime though. I'll let you know if I do. I do have a few other rebreather specific videos on my channel though.
@@DiveVibe I’ve seen some of them if not all of them haha. I think I wanna do caves, but I also do underwater video and photos so sidemount will probably be the way, even if I end up in the ocean, as I don’t think I can afford a sidemount cave rebreather setup and also a back mount doubles rebreather setup 🤣
Everything you said is indeed correct, it does still baffle me that there are people who choose to be harsh on their gear. We all know diving gear is expensive. And with good care can go for years. Why choose to lets say destroy a set of regs that cost 900 new in just a year or 2

Hi Jonas! That's awesome. I wish I had access to something like that when I was new to the sport.

I didn't expect a great facial shot from this title, let alone two. I shall endeavor to be more emotive when next I rinse my gear. 😂
You should have seen the stupid grin on my face when I was editing that.

Yes!!!! I spoke to her. That's awesome!
I used to use this stuff called mirazyme. It was awesome for stinky suits.

Would that Alkaline Rock quarry that will tear your gear up happen to be the Blue Lagoon in Huntsville, TX?
Yup! I taught out there for years.
