Love the vibe of your content! Thanks! I use a insta360. Case is good to 150feet. Not the BEST in class video, but I love the 'set it and forget it' style of its use!
Hi there - I also shoot the LX10 underwater, but in a Nauticam housing. It's a fantastic compact camera, allowing you to go from wide angle (I use the Inon UWL-H100) to 3mm subjects in macro (on which I'm currently focusing, being in macro-land east Bali at the moment) with a good diopter (I used the Inon UCL165 +6 and the AOI UCL-09 +12.5) really versatile and a great to shoot with. Profile-wise, I shoot in Cine-D, there's an easy way to load it on the LX10 and save it to your C modes. It's great for grading - shooting macro I work with artificial light, but did an ambient-light test reel (with a Keldan Spectrum filter) a few months back that you might be interested in, impressive colour rendering down to 20m+. Looking forward to seeing more UW LX10 content in the future then! cheers ben
Hey Ben! I'm glad you commented. I found some stuff online about the cine D profile, but it seems like it was taken down? Let me know if you still have the files or a link that works. I gave up looking for it and made a flat profile, but i'd still really like to try cine D. Also im definitely gonna check out your video, im assuming its on your channel?
The issue I have with my Isota for my GoPro10 (and indeed, any housing for my GoPro) is that the buttons seem to press underwater, especially when I clip it to my self and use my scooter for travel. So I get a lot of garbage video or a dead batter when I want it. I would LOVE to find some what to use my scooter to simply transport a tray and camera without mounting. For my shore dives in Monterey and Point Lobos, that would be a game changer
Great video, Zach! I totally endorse this endorsement haha. I was looking to upgrade from a GoPro for underwater video and settled on the LX10 as well for all of the reasons you mention. Super happy with that decision. Great controls, color science, and form factor, I use a housing from Ikelite which make a plastic housing for the LX10. It feels a lot cheaper than aluminum -- but that's because it is :) It has the ability to manipulate the focus ring but like you said in your video -- I wind up shooting in auto focus 99.9% of the time anyways. What do you think about frame rate vs. resolution? I've been more than happy to trade down to 1080p to get 60 fps video. Am I making a mistake and should I just stick to 30 fps 4k? Really enjoyed this review!
Hey thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. So for resolution, it sorta depends. I started recording 4k so I could crop down for a tighter shot or do a zoom for comedic effect without losing detail. Then I started looking into youtube compression and you end up with better looking video if you upload in 1440p (as opposed to 1080), because youtube uses a superior codec. I have no idea why, lol, I saw it in a youtube video. Now i'm thinking about outputting in 4k to see if the youtube algorithm favors videos in 4k (it's weird like that). So if you're just shooting to show your friends and for your own memories, then I think 1080p is plenty. If you're trying to use it professionally, then 4k gives you more options. Although, AI up-scaling looks so good already that you can get away with up-scaling high frame rate 1080p footage in a lot of cases. So who knows what the future will bring?
I'll keep that in mind! I still throw some humor in it, but it's usually really dry and deadpan. I just get self-conscious about trying to be funny. I mean, I also love the serious tone, but it's intentionally a little tongue-in-cheek.

You are very nice style the way you make videos. Your video editing is very good and you are well spoken.

Those cameras are so cool. They can do stuff. Thanks Carl!

TINKER’S!
They brought a smile to my face. Just got back from a Kona trip and managed to get a somewhat decent photo of one.

Hmm, I wonder if you could swap the problem springs for slightly stiffer ones? Thanks for the input Mike! Nice to hear from you as always.

Contemplating upgrading to the new Gopro hero, whatever version we’re on or trying my hand at making quality videos
That is a good option to upgrade from an action camera. I will be contemplating this.
Yeah, the more I use it, the more I like it. It's a REALLY good value.
I’m loving the review videos coming out Zach but why so serious lately I miss the goofy funny bits in your videos 🤙🏼

Very cinematic video
Cool stuff.👍
i use the lx10 with ikelite housing
Keep it up Zach -- Hope all is well!
