I really enjoy your videos and your philosophies. Where did you get the clear bins you use in your refrigerator? That is an area that needs some decluttering and organization for me. Thanks in advance for all your content!
Favorite minimalist RUclipsr I’ve come across! You give such clear concise and easy to follow steps! Thank you!
Excellent. I added all of them to my Amazon cart. My mom tells a story about when I was little and I "helped" her clean the litter box by dragging litter and cat poo all over the house to the toilet to flush it away. She said she was mad, and then I had a meltdown because I said I was trying to help and didn't understand why she was mad. Which of course mad her feel lousy. I don't remember it, but I still take it as a learning experience into my own mothering. I'm pretty decent with the things you listed here, but some good reminders and tips are always beneficial. I taught high school for over a decade and had the misfortune to witness many unpleasant, and weird, things at parent/teacher conferences. As a result, I'm rather hyper aware of what to definitely not do. :/
Great research thank you
Hard is not the same as bad!!! Literally one of my favorites! Listened to it and then bought the hard cover to take notes in and I love her podcast!!
I'm sorry I just disagree with you. Either that or the way you explained it didn't explain what you were trying to say.
Knowing the huge cost of Lovevery toys she’s giving up made me believe this. Doing the experiment today!
Awesome content. I love your honesty (saying frhings such as this is new. I am working on this, etc.). I appreciate your videos and straight forward presentations 😊
Recycling ends up in the same place. It’s a hoax
Thank you so much! 4 years 5:23 ago large declutter. Next 3 years 1000 items py ended up in 3500 items in 3 years. Digitalize photo's seperatedly from cloud. Cleaned up email boxes & laptop (ongoing process every year) My reward in 2025 is an essential wardrobe capsule. My clothes are 85 % 2nd hand but I want a couple of new classic items and dim down number of clothes. Love you 500 items in one month. is massive 🎉
Those poor kids
So kids can’t even have toys anymore? 😭
I feel my skin is better since I stopped using lotion. I use coconut oil in case it gets dry after the beach or during cold winters.
That still seems like a lot Of toys to me. Thank you for sharing. Not a criticism just interesting!
"I had a random unproven hunch - well I'm gonna take my kids toys away" ...
Best video so far on this topic.. I am searching and have come down on minimum toys but still felt cluttered. This video gave the best infact exactly what I wanted. Thankyou
This is the best!! In 3 short years of being a mom I’m realizing the educational toy rotation hype is sooo unnecessary & borderline damaging. For kids, in terms of restricting and overwhelming imaginative play. And for parents, causing financial strain and guilt of not having the best material items for their kids at every little developmental stage and/or the space mentally or physically to keep track of them. I love how you include quotes from some of my favorite authors.
You’re hot
You had way too many toys. That's the main issue.
Can barely hear you.. can hear the music though
okay thank you. but what about single children? a child with no other kid to play with? of course us parents play with our kids but my toddler finds it hard to play & entertain herself
I’m downsizing from 2 bedrooms home to 2 bedroom apartment. Still decluttering but my in laws or friend still giving us stuff that we are trying to refuse to have. But already catching up with recycling and get rid more clothes this year. But still the storage is full. Should I get rid some linens too? 😂
I usually buy toys that I really wantcto play with XD we have ostheimer fingures which I personally adore, my daughter plays well with them.
Thank you so very much ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I always learn from your videos. Thank you! I am wondering if you have sped them up a bit? If so, would it be possible to just have them at normal speed and people could speed them up if they wanted? I tend to be a bit wound up and a slower speed would be more calming 😊
Bared this in mind, when my toddler threw crackers on the floor. I asked him to pick them up, he did... then he put them away without asking! Amazing. If I moaned and cleared it up myself, he wouldnt have learnt and I wouldnt be smiling.
What about tantrums in public spaces?
First, I’d recommend reading “Hunt, Gather, Parent”. Public tantrums were a huge issue for the author and she addresses it thoroughly. Best guidance on that subject that I’ve ever read. Second, de-escalating with stillness can work wonders (even in public), and there are examples in the book of how to adapt it, in those circumstances. But, I think it’s less effective if the parent is agitated from it being a public display. So, in that context I’d probably rely on another strategy from the book.
I just cant seem to get a grip on my anger. I need to pray so much more because my daughter (five) deserves a better role model.
You might find Abbie Halberstadt’s e-book, “The Gentleness Challenge” helpful. She’s the author of the third book I mentioned and her e-book is all about calling on The Holy Sprit to help shift or hearts and transform the anger. Also, Hunt, Gather, Parent is the best book I’ve read about learning to have less anger with my kids. Anger was an area that the author really struggled with.
I love how the Lord is using you here in the RUclips world. Your videos are always so encouraging. Thanks for making them! I am currently in the middle of reading simplicity parenting, I’m excited to add these other two books to my reading list for 2025. Would love to hear your testimony sometime in a video if you feel led to share!
Love your work! Thank you for this, and I'll definitely read these recommendations.
Update on the flip phone please!
My kids destroyed it and I defaulted back to my old iPhone 🤦🏻♀️ I’m not sure about next steps. 😂
@papertownhome was the flip bit super exciting? Regular brick might be good. 🤣
New Christian and mom as well! You are so on point about how our culture views parenting and how hard it is to fight and pray through those times
I think I'm dolphin with a touch of cheetah?
This video helped me change perspective even though I already wanted to declutter toys especially in Christmas season. Your voice is also super calming, made me feel the need to do this asap aha
Thank you for an insight for hunt, gather, parent.
Watching this with all the Christmas presents wrapped... guess next year!
Don’t usually comment, but just had to say that I hit 500 items yesterday! Thank you for this challenge! Some of my family is doing it with me and it’s been fun and rewarding, and life-changing for some of them! So thank you!
You just have a mortgage with loveevery 😂
😂
This is irrelevant to the actual video but I just want to take a moment to appreciate how cool your hair looks. The silver sheen legitimately looks so great against the brown color, like something you might see on a girl in an anime or something haha. Weird compliment but I just appreciate that you’re not hiding your gray and you also totally pulling it off.
Thank you so much! I was recently questioning if I should dye it 😂 so this was very reassuring!
😁
Haha my kids call me “Erika Shmerika” sometimes. It’s a joke that refers to when I first started my insta account and was wondering what my handle would be. Lol. Fellow Erika with a “k,” I knew I liked you. 😌

The western world thrives because of mothers like this.
I’m a stay at home dad of a 2 year old boy. I’ve enjoyed several of your videos and was especially delighted to learn more about your journey to becoming a Christian and how that has affected your parenting. Thank you for your work in studying books like these and influencing us other parents trying to parent our best for these beautiful children of God who are given to us!
So, it can be discouraging wheb you're still figuring things out and your oldest is an 11 yo boy! I've skimmed some good books, heard good ideas, but my implementation SUCKS! I've realized slowly 🐌 amd more so the padt 2 years that my own disappointment with myself stifles me and doesn't allow me to believe ANYTHING I DO could work. I tend to think, everything my children do wrong, is MY fault. I am the comman denominator of all things horrible - they just need a different mom! Well, I don't get far with this mindset. I've tried to be giving and understanding and calm but firm, i find it difficult, but i just try. I have found myself doing all the chores while the kids play or do their jobs, which they don't usually get done unless i do it with them - even the 11 and 9 yo!! So THAT needs to change. But one good thing - my 2 yo boy has a quick temper and he becomes MORE angry with reprimands, calling me, "you meanie, mama" (haha its horrible) but the other day he threw a huge tantrum at the library of all places and I took him to the bathroom (i wanted to spank his little leg) I sat him on a changing counter and he couldn't get off. I didn't say anything i just stared stoically and within 3-5 minutes, he was ready for me to pick him and have a conversation and move on! I was so surprised at this and then i listed to this... Oh, it's a thing you're supposed to do!!
You’ve just gained a new subscriber. You’re an excellent speaker and I hope your spiritual journey takes you deeper with God. Thank you for this video.
My one year old takes clean laundry out of the dryer and tosses it back into the dirty hamper and takes toys she’s done with directly to the trash. 😂 the wheels are turning but not quite there yet
😂😂 your daughter sounds wonderful! Already trying to figure out how to help her mama.
This is SUCH a gem of a video. Sending straight to my husband!! I’ve listened to Abbie’s other book M is for Mamma and it was GOOD - you have motivated me to want to properly get down to these three books (I have an 8 month old) and am super keen to learn from you. Love your warmth, openness and honesty!! Such a tidy edit and generally brilliant video! Thank you :) best from London! 😊
Thank you! I’m so glad it was valuable to you!
@@papertownhome Definitely. Thanks for some stonkingly good content this end of the year - I think I found you when the toys video went viral and so grateful for your thoughtful content in my life. Have a great Christmas, God Bless xx
I’m a new orthodox Christian and all of this tips are so inline with everything I’m learning about how to view and practice intentional parenting. Adding all of these books to my reading list, thank you!
I'm so glad it's resonating with you!
