    One note! I don't think I explained the "Never Have Empty Hands" habit fully. The idea is that the tidier a home is, the more incentivized you'll be to maintain it. Also, the more you'll enjoy any decluttering/minimizing progress you've made 😄... and this habit is one way to help with tidying.

    Thank you for these very good and applicable tips! My husband and I always say that we enter in a relationship with everything we buy lol. Counting the cost of maintenance and space and not just the value it adds is such a great way to describe it. Go Alan!

    Once a week buying day is a great concept! I had never thought of doing that. It would definitely minimise purchases.

    Did you know Amazon offers free shipping to non-prime members on orders of $35 or more?
    My favorite thing about doing a buying day for amazon was cancelling prime knowing my orders would be over $35 anyway if I just ordered them at the same time 😆
    Also if you order a lot of books, eBay is a great place and usually sellers offer free shipping on used books!

    I think you should dive deeper into Alan's Law. It has a lot of potential. Maybe you could further explain the elements that go into the decision making. Or your criteria on the rating. ❤

    Such good advice! Our family orders Amazon once a month or less. We definitely remove many items from the cart we've decided we can get along without after time goes on.

    Well done! Guilty of walking everywhere with empty hands! And then I wonder why there’s so much clutter everywhere!!! I’m starting to question the existence of everything in my house. Like 80% of our things, we never use. I have a huge salad bowl that’s beautiful. Reality is, I cut up veg on a board then make individual salads 99% of the time and never use that huge bowl. Why do I keep it? I guess just in case. Sorry to be rambling. I think, in the end, one must decide if you value the item more or the empty space it would leave, if you were to get rid of it. looking forward to the next video…. Keep it up! You’re doing great!!!! xoxo

    Loved the video! I’m definitely struggling with my children’s toys too so would love to hear your thoughts in a future video on how you are going to minimize them moving forward. As well as how/what you are communicating around Christmas gifts for yourself and your children since the holidays are coming up.

    • @papertownhome
      @papertownhome  Год назад +2

      Definitely!! I actually started recording a vlog in which I’m FINALLY decluttering the toys. It’s coming out in a couple weeks. Let me know if you have any other specific questions (beyond what you shared here) and I’ll do my best to get to them!
      Also planning a video about Christmas prep, which will include our gift giving approach. That should come out the Monday after Thanksgiving.

    Great video! I just found your channel this week but I've enjoyed it! As a newer mom with a toddler I would love to see a video on kids toys. Which ones you like, how many you have and what your process is for kids gifts. Maybe you already addressed this in a video. From the toys I've seen in the video they look great!

      I literally started recording a vlog about decluttering toys yesterday! It’s coming out in mid-November. I’m going to add your questions to my list and try to address them in my voiceover. If I don’t get to the one about gifts, I’ll be covering that topic in late-November. Should be the last Monday in November.
      Thanks for reaching out! I’m excited to cover this topic more because it’s such a tricky subject for many of us.

    How did you arrive at your channels name?

    • @papertownhome
      @papertownhome  Год назад +2

      Great question! It kinda reveals my inner nerd, lol.
      First, and this is less nerdy, my husband and I are from a town with a paper mill that was established in the mid-19th century. We love our home and there's a lot pride in our community around the town's history and its connection to the mill.
      Second, "paper towns" are phantom settlements that appear on maps but don't actually exist. But, there have been instances of businesses and homes being established after people saw a "paper town" on a map and saw it as an opportunity. For me, I equated the idea of "paper towns" with starting a RUclips channel. I looked at the big world of RUclips and saw an opportunity to build up a community.
