- Some people feel energized and motivated by a new year full of possibilities. Others feel overwhelmed by the transition. This year, I'm a little of both. Join me today for a slow winter day caring for my home, savoring the first snow and resetting for the new year.

Condemning the stuff. That's how it feels sometimes. We were a family of 3 for 8 years then 3 kids in 3 years was absolutely life altering. I still have to get used to all the stuff. Even just the basic stuff. Like we will always need 6 towels, 6 blankets, 6 this and that. I even was debating getting a second dish rack because it felt excessive. But we cook from scratch, wash dishes by hand, and we homeschool. We're here all the time. And it finally dawned on me that. Yes they are 2, 4, 5... but they eat off of adult dishes too. So we bought the second rack and it has been amazing. This year i really want to embrace our larger family's stuff. The things that make our life happy, fulfilling and easy. And really scrutinize the rest so we can live in peace.❤
Exactly! That's a big change to go through in such a short period of time, but it perfectly illustrates what I've been reflecting on. When I started out with minimizing I loved the impact it had on my homemaking. But, then I got used to the new normal and found there was still plenty to do. At first I wondered if I needed to go further, but eventually I found routines and shifted my mindset to appreciating the effort it takes to keep a home. It can still be hard, but with minimalism it's not unnecessarily so.
@@papertownhome Yes!!! Establishing routines makes it easier to keep home, keep the clutter down, and not be overwhelmed. I'm really going to work on the kids routines and my own to make our home better. That was my goal this year.
Wow I love the editing in this video. Feels like a movie!
Thank you!
My reset includes being grateful and caring for what I already have and not buy anything new for a few months. Just breathe! Thanks for another beautiful video
Wonderful! Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful. Also a good reminder that caring for the things in my simplified home can be joyful. :)
Thank you! And I find it’s a reminder I often need. 🥰
What a beautiful video! I love this time of year for a good reset. The part about finding joy in taking care of our things rather than condemning them was such an eye opener. I think I’m going to focus on that this year instead of getting exhausted from decluttering. My hope is to stop looking for the next best thing to shop for and be content with what I have. So glad to have a little community of like-minded souls to share in the journey to simplicity! Thank you!
Love that! And thank you for being here. Another hope I have for this year is to keep finding ways to encourage connection within this community.
Lovely video…really enjoyed this. So true about not condemning our things but embracing what we have and enjoying them. My goals for the new year is to be more grateful for the people and things that I do have and to live a more slower life.
Wonderful! And thank you 🥰
You are super talented. The videos with the music play like a movie.
Thank you so much 😀 My goal is always to tell a story. Even if it’s the simple story of resetting my heart and mind after a round of sickness 🥰
You are one of my favorite content creators!! I think my hope/goal for this year will be not to multitask, but give my full attention and gratitude to the task at hand or the person I am spending time with. Best of luck with your goals for this year.
You can do it! Thank you for sharing!
I hope this video is gentle encouragement 🥰What are you hoping to do this year?
By far one of my favorite videos you have put out in the world dear friend ❤ My hope for the year is to take it slow and take what comes with intention and care. Being present is something I've worked on for the last year or so and I want to keep evolving that practice. Traditional constructs of time will not rule me like it used to. I am letting it and that expectation go little by little.
This is wonderful ❤️ I can’t wait to hear more about your experience and process with this.
i love your content so much. my sensitive introverted four-year-old often watches with me. 😊 my hope for this year is to slow down, enjoy the process, and create a joy-filled home. ❤
Oh my goodness this makes my heart so happy ☺️ I love that you’re able to share that together. I have a couple content creators that I can share with my daughter and it’s so fun. Good luck on your hopes for the year! You can do it!
Happy New Year 😊❤️
🎉 Happy New Year to you too!
This was beautiful
Thank you 🥰
We too are transitioning to local organic meats, best decision! Question, where is the green bag from the meats were in? Love it!
That’s awesome! It’s actually from the farm that sold us the meat. I thought it was really nice too!
