MSFS 2020 Retrospective - How realistic is it?
Hello flight simmers and welcome back to Alpha Hotel Flight simulator training.
With the release of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 rapidly approaching - I thought we would look back at MSFS 2020 and do a little bit of a retrospective.
From the point of view of someone new to aviation and learning about it for the first time, or for someone looking to increase their aviation knowledge or skills - what did MSFS 2020 do well, and where did it fall short. What skills are beneficial to practice in the simulator - and what should you actually get in a certified simulator or an actual aircraft to experience in the most realistic way. We’ll take a look at those things, and also talk a little bit...

Question... after full landing config, 1,000ft in decent, should one put carb heat off since full engine power will be needed in a rejected take-off/Go-around? Or, carb heat needs to be on whenever rpm is under green area?

Wonderful. I have had the privilege of coming along for the ride on this series and I have watched the entire VFR series. My next stop is the avionics series and the IFR playlist. This channel is easily the best channel available for flight simulation training anywhere. I sincerely hope you continue to make more videos, and I am sure that a lot of people will be willing to pay for the excellent content and effort. I am very grateful to you for your efforts and the learning that I have gained from this channel. Kudos!

@15:27 The Beechcraft Bonanza is a complex aircraft because it has retractable landing gear and is considered to be a high performance aircraft whereas the Cessna 150 is not. Also I believe that for currency purposes the PIC flying the Cessna 150 would not meet the needs for the Bonanza for these reasons. I'm I correct on this? Maybe a Piper Archer would have been a better example?

I’m surprised it doesn’t have a larger following or more views. If you’ve set up a way to accept donations, I’m sure viewers like me would be happy to contribute to support your efforts.

In the real world, I've seen Twin Otters and Dorniers touching down right "on the numbers" (Runway 06). So in that sense, you still came in a little high. In a Cessna that shouldn't be a problem tho.

Why do you keep acting like head tracking isn't a thing and complaining about fixed view? A cheap 30fps webcam can do Opentrack, though spending more for a 60fps one is preferable, but the cost is miniscule compared to the cost of a decent PC to run flightsim.
