  • Hello flight simmers, and welcome back to Alpha Hotel Flight Simulator training.
This part two in our 3 part series on flying a localizer approach. In the previous video, we discussed what a localizer approach is, how it works, and how to fly it.
In this video, we'll demonstrate flying the approach in the g1000 equipped Cessna 172. In the final video, we'll demonstrate flying the approach in the Cessna 172 classic analog or "steam gauge" aircraft.
All charts used in this video are available at SkyVector.com

I completely missed the instruction to reduce the altitude when setting my vertical speed, probably because there was a lot going on, so overflew the airport with AP on. Wont do that again!
You'll be glad to hear that I followed your instructions next time, and landed the airplane safely.

@tonyevans2967, there's a lot going on during non-precision approaches/approaches without vertical guidance - and a lot more to manage than on an ILS or LPV RNAV approach. Very complicated non-precision approaches have caused very serious accidents in the past - and I guarantee you're not the first pilot to do something like that!
Thankfully, In flight sim, every mistake is a learning opportunity. Glad it worked out better the second time. Glad you enjoyed the content, and thank for watching!
