have really enjoyed your journey so far looking forward to next years projects, a fantastic home yee have made fair play to you both. i hope you have a great x mas and a happy new year
Thanks Tom 👍
You guys did a great job and you came in under budget when you add the cost of labor! Fantastic!!
Thanks Kelly 😍
Yr house is looking so beautiful. 🎉congratulations on getting so far. Looking forward to c what u plan next. Take a break for a while. 😊
Thank you Elizabeth ☺️
Lads wow hats off to all you have achieved, roll on next week Addition 👍
Thank you, see you next week 🙂
Very well budgeted, fair play on taking that job on it'd overwhelm most! How much was all the plumbing including stove ,pipes, tanks, etc. Apart from the bathroom sanitary ware please? Yes u can do the exterior & grounds at your own pace now, please keep showing us your progress with the exterior too. Fantastic! Happy Christmas, have a well deserved break🎉
Good question! Let me come back to you on this as plumbing came under services.
This is really cool! Fair play! I didn't realise that those grants would allow you to do most of the work yourself.
It is the only grant currently where you can do the work yourself 😉
Please don’t quit your channel, you two are lovely good people that make our world a better place. It makes me sad to think it may be coming to an end. If that’s the case I thank you for all the hours l’ve enjoyed watching your channel. You are an amazing couple and will be missed.
Oh gosh we're not going anywhere yet, plenty more to come 😉
Amazing project with an unbelievable budget, well done! What kind of heat pump did you use, air or ground source?
We can available of a further grant for heating if we wish, and so momentarily we only focused on what we could achieve under the derelict grant. So at the moment we have a wood burning stove heating the actual farmhouse very well and for the extension we have laid electric underfloor and installed infrared heating. We have built a solar array and this year we hope to optimize this with solar panels, and a solar thermal system. So no heat pumps for the moment.
I would say about 200,000
Very close😉
Shall we call it a blue head instead of a blue tit 😂 that really made me chuckle 😊 Merry Christmas Rob & Claire and so looking forward to your new adventures in 2025 🎉❤ xXx
Grand job, guys! We enjoy your videos. Very down to earth and good explanations. It's great to see others succeed.
Glad you enjoy it! Thanks for watching 😊
Thanks for the detailed breakdown - we’re about to start a very similar project in Roscommon and it’s VERY heartening to know my budget will extend to cover our plans much like your farmhouse!!!
Glad it was helpful! We hope to inspire others that it is possible by watching your budget😊
Spent some of my childhood living in kinsale , was always a dream to get back there 😊, my best friend at the time mums was Mary Cotter, Wonder if its the same Mary,, small world if it is 😊
Probably I believe she has a son and a daughter! 😀
Feckin' hell, that carnivore is working, just going to view now! Eh never just say "Roscommon maybe", the Rossies are a proud fold, they demand recognition always, believe me, Westmeath and Longford here! Arragh, just kidding, the Rossies are the best, if there is a grant to be got, they have it in hand.
Love it 🤣
Very interesting! Money well-spent! Btw....Rob, you've lost A LOT of weight! You look great and healthy! 😊 Lauren
You have made his day Lauren 😉
When will you be finishing off doorways and windows?
Good question. Big snag list to complete in the New Year 🙈
You two have done a remarkable job! Your kids must feel proud of you and grateful for such a lovely home. May your family enjoy many happy years together in your home. 😂 Lauren
Thank you so much Lauren 😍
Hi guys. Fantastic work. Well done. Just about to renovate a cottage myself, and wondering are ye happy with the steel cladding? Do you find it loud in the rain. As i was thinking of going that route too ,mainly due to budget.
We are delighted with it and would highly recommend Gusclad who were the suppliers. We have insulation and then plaster board on the inside, so no rain sound.
Brilliant ! Thanks..i think you have convinced me thats the way to go so.and cheapest also. .Have a great christmass in yer lovely house 🙂
When we built our home in Alaska, we had to run all the electricity our selfs because they had no rules stating we had to hire an electrician. So Google was our best pal, but i did have fears that we'd burn down for a very long time, hah ... btw we didn't 😅 we don't receive grants here, but what we do get is 10,000 board feet free every year of yellow cedar red cedar and spruce that helped alot because we had a saw mill . First year it was all beams 😊
Oh that's amazing, having your own sawmill. We have a big spruce which we had to take down and we have earmarked it for a table in the future. Gosh what a responsibility with the electrics 🙈
The electric was all our responsibility even to the city main that was pretty freaky had a big stick ready to go i was totally surprised it all came on hah. I sold my saw mill now i get deals with that person when i bring logs to them. We also made a red cedar table about 5 feet round counted the lines 300 years old. It was ready to go so we cut it. Red cedar is so beautiful.. we use it on everything siding , decks and art work ... thanks for chatting back have a great day btw love Ireland.... ❤️ 😍
Outside is going to be fun to see too.. take your time And enjoy your home❤
A whole new adventure 😁
I love seeing bloopers clips as much as watching you both transform you home. See you next week. Blessings to you all, from NY
Yay! Thank you! 😊
The tweeks are coming. You did great!!❤❤
Thanks Karen 🙂
Good for ye.
Thankyou 😍
A few thoughts: 1. I like the way you decided to present the information. 2. You've awed me with your success, and 3. You didn't sacrifice a spectacular building for creating a "home"...No, the labor, sweat, tears, pain, and laughter you put into the project makes your "home" a spectacular building. Every time you look at or touch "that chink in the plaster" or "the one wonky timber" you installed with your own hands will only bring you more joy in Your Home❤. Congratulations and happy holidays to you and the family.
Still waiting for the blooper video , all the cuts that didn't make it past the editing phase
Bloopers at the end of every episode 😊
I really really hope that you are going to continue with RUclips because you are both such lovely people and seeing you regularly is an absolute joy , Merry Christmas and all the best wishes for 2025 . Now tell us about the car by the barn...............🤔
Don't worry John all in good time 😜
Thank you for sharing your story, you live in such a beautiful part of Cork. ❤
Thanks for watching! 😍
Sure hope we get to follow you both along with the finishing of around the outside of the house and landscaping that you’ll both be doing. Wishing you merry Christmas and a happy new year in your home that you both worked so hard on day and into the nights many a time. So happy for you! Maureen.
That's the plan! 🙂
Great summary folks, good advice, always good to hear a success story. Hearing you describe the sacrifices of not being able to full explore, enjoy and indulge in the wonderful location you have chosen to move to was a particularly unexpected frustration of our own too. Loved seeing your decorated xmas tree - we have just found your card and handmade bauble - our postie left it on the dash of our Camper, just seen it today and opened it to find the surprise. Thank you so much, you guys are awesome X
Ahh your welcome guys, yes we don't even feel like we know all of our neighbours yet due to having our heads stuck in this Reno 🙄
Wow what a great forever home for such a low cost, so impressed! I reckon you paid 205,00 euros for the property and land, did you have to pay VAT on all the build materials? We have to pay 20% VAT in UK if we’re renovating, it’s zero VAT if we build a new home, hope you’re taking a break now, see you next week❤
Yes we did have to pay VAT on all materials and as far as I know it's the same figure for new builds but I could be wrong.
Can't believe you got it that cheap.... Round here even derelict houses are 500k up....
True 😊
when are you gonna sort that corner of your roof out ,where theres a cloth on it loll, and the gutter hanging on front of house lolllllllllll xxx
I'm with you Diana🤣 Those two bits are a pain and everytime I say I'll get up and sit them we can't because the weather is so awful now, so Spring time we'll get the scaffolding up and sort the front face of the house and any extra bits 👍
@@WestCorkWander ahhh , yeahh weather is awful now ,definately agree , too rough to climb ladders loll , its only because i was watchin you 2 and could seee it waving in the wind etc well happy christmas ,roll on your next adventure of building , i enjoy watching you 2 on the building side of the renovation , i dont like the cooking sides as im a cook / and , enjoy ur renovations xxxxxmerrry christmas rob n clare xxx
I remember all these renovations when I first saw it, Claire was working her ass off. Well you were too Rob lol I can't believe it's come this far. Great work and a great job! I can't wait for more renovations,, and I'm sure you guys can't wait either 🤣 I know you're going to do much more, with other areas. Much love from Oklahoma USA Jackie 🇺🇸💖 PS what do you think about our new sheriff in town? 😂😂🤣
The outside is going to be a whole new adventure Jacki 😄
€195,500 👍😉🇨🇮☘️Eire
Very close😉
Well done clare
Thanks Natalie, joint effort 😁
If your goal is to reach a broad audience your swearing and using the Lord's name in vain is not going to work.. As a Christian there is so little to enjoy on the t.v. I turned to you tube and restorations around the world. Your journey is the only one whose language will not hold onto your audience. Unfortunately I have missed a lot skipping through each episode and will not share or recommend your journey.
Thank you John for your comment. We are Irish unfortunately and it is in our nature, but I understand where you are coming from. Our journey has been a difficult one and do we don't hide our struggles or feelings. I'm sorry that you feel this way and I think as the videos have progressed we have improved or beeped out any language which we feel may offend.
It’s beautiful I love it all!!you both work so hard and this shows how much it all pays off.merry Christmas to you all🎄🎄🎄and the music you played showing this tour was great I loved it ❤️
Yes we are really enjoying using music at the moment, all experimental 🤣
Wow incredible commitment guys to see it through and my was it worth all the hard work! Looks stunning. So well done to you! Thanks for sharing with us and for all the laughs too! It's great to see something built literally from the ground up and to watch over time the really beautiful transformation. Look forward to next year and the further changes you will make. Have a lovely break over Christmas and New Year! Kxx
Thanks so much Kate! We hope you have a lovely Christmas ⛄
Very nice
Thankyou 😍
Beautiful ❤❤
Thank you! Cheers! 😍
Would love to be your guest x
Come on down 😉😊
You never know thanks
Herculean effort folks, great to reflect on how far you have come, the challenges you have overcome and what you have achieved - respect.
Much appreciated guys! It's been a whirlwind 18 months 🤯
Very well done, hope you have a fantastic festive season xXx
Can't wait Cliff 🤩
Beautiful! The snug and parlour guest room are still my favourites , all yer hard work paid off in spades 😊
Thanks so much! 😊
I think a good breakdown of the vacant property grant process, costs and getting paid out etc. Would be brilliant 👏
On the way 😊
The wooden clad single storey and the house don't blend. Have you thought of painting the outside one single colour to unite both buildings?
We have a huge amount of work to do outside, working on the external pebbledash render and groundwork, so hopefully it will look less sad next year 😊
🙌🙌🙌 brilliant, and hello to you too 😂
Love it 😁😍
Just amazing what you’ve achieved I remember all the hard groundwork, mud etc but you kept focus, I’ve loved being along for the ride, thank you, btw I thought you took last week off I didn’t get a notification you’d posted 🧐
Sorry just to confuse everyone🙄, we post West Cork Wander vids on Wednesdays and Irish Country Life vids, our new channel on Saturdays 😊
I’d lower the bathroom sink + maybe shrink the “column” by 1/2 as wide?! 👏🏽👏🏽
Yes that is a dumbie column for the moment just to give us an idea of what we want 👍
Great job on this episode!! Hmmm, what would I have done differently…
Haha, let me know, we have actually nothing we would have done differently at the minute but as we live in it I guess we will see 😊
@ are you still loving the cabinet door color? I was thinking maybe paint instead of stain…that’s all! You have really done an incredible job and I can’t wait to see the cost breakdown video next week!
I like the stain, but I would like to do another coat however Rob likes it the way it is, so who knows how this will end 🤣
