- A slow yet busy few days at West Cork Wander!!! We begin recovering from a busy weekend with Robs Dad's birthday and family gathering. Coming back to the Farm Clare Rushs to get Ashtons bedroom ready for Rob to install the shower. As the weather turns beautiful we also manage to sneak out for a stunning sunset on the ocean searching for a few Mackeral to fish for.

You two are such a joy to watch as I convalesce from cancer surgery on Vancouver Island in western Canada! I just love your teamwork in all that you do from building to cooking to enjoying life on the water. Keep it up - you are awe-inspiring!
Thanks Susan! All the very best of luck with your recovery from surgery 🤗
As a 40+ year part time resident to this neck of the woods (more likely gorse) I can attest to the feel of the place right at the south of Ireland. As I get a wee bit older and dafter I appreciate the great life here, Although not so good for some, as previous generations had built their work and lived long before the innovations of today, there is new energy to the towns of Bantry, Skibbereen, Drimoleague and the like. Wishing you the best and a good diet to battle cancer. Some of my ancestor explored Canada in the early 1800's and others settled there later, to the East. So there's an afinity to the life they valued. I would love to sail in the Vancouver area. Perhaps one day, for now I sail in Roaringwater bay, out to the famous Fastnet rock.
Hugs from further north BC, Canada. May you find what you need to regain your health.
Rockstars, that trip out on your boat was pure magic. The weather has been such a pleasure, good to see you guys enjoying it too.
It really has been great, trying to make the most of it as the weather is starting to turn! You had it good tho guys, we were just saying last summer we had 5 named storms which destroyed our caravan and led to many a stressful sleepless night! 0 storms this summer. Hoping the winter stays good also!
@@WestCorkWander True enough, thankful for missing out on the storms. I remember watching your vlog about the awning destruction - one of the reasons we are not rocking one now. While we are fortunate to have dodged the silly storms (was absolutely lush in mainland Europe in the campervan while it was all kicking off in IRL), folks have been commenting about it being the worst growing season they have ever known 30+ years.
I started watching your videos on September 8 and have now watched pretty much all of them while feeding my newborn. Love the videos!
That is awesome! Thank you so much 😊
Clare the black floor looks gorgeous. What I nice way to end the video. ✌️💚
I know right! Looks like black slate against the white wall, loving it 😊
Loving your videos great progress
Thanks so much! 😊
Wow..what a beautiful place you live.... you're doing brilliantly on your home and garden ❤🏴
It is very beautiful when the sun shines 😉
Very glad u take the time to enjoy the day. It’s part of the why is it not?
Clare your arm must be super strong after all that plastering! As always I want more.👍getting there don’t give up!
Oh gosh so done with plastering, it must be such boring viewing, but hopefully it will be over this week 🤞
I am so into watching your videos, that I hate it when it is over. Loved the fishing and water shots and especially the sunrise walk sunset while cutting the grass. Thank you ❤️
Ahh your so kind with those comments, thank you 😍
I love mowing , always loved the smell of freshly mown grass . I did fishing once , mum n dad hired a Hoseasons boat on the Thames one summer , I caught a Roach , whooeee , dad threw it back in
Fresh grass must be such an Irish thing! Love the smell myself, summer smell. Great to hear the memories of the lucky Roach 😄
Sunup to sundown, very cool! Hi from Washington state!
Hey, thanks! Yip we try to make the most!
Watching this with torrential rain hammering on the roof😢very jealous of your weather😂
Oh no, well we are having a very unusual week with the heat 😊
This last week, the weather has been fabulous, the best of the summer! This evening I got into the water, for a peaceful sunset and the end of the 12''2' spring tides. Great you got out on the water for the spring tides and a good catch.
PS With the warm humid climate here, the gowing season is long, good thing you are out mowing, to keep thing under control. Otherwise, soon the barmbles, bracken & seedlings would gain a foothold, they grow throught the walls!
Nice to hear that your also a sea lover! Truely a fantastic week, the house got a little forgotten 🙈
The bathroom looks great!
I was wondering if you had a name for the farmhouse that'll go on a plaque by the door and be what yis are know as locally?
I'm looking forward to seeing those lovely fish prepped and cooked up - What a dream it must be to have it on your doorstep as well as the skills & equipment to harvest it.
I noted Rob's comment about Clare not catching ALL the fish lol!
It might be karma Rob.
As not only did you butcher the ICONIC yellow trackies, you had the affrontary to wear the shortened troos whilst on on the water, torn away from their natural habitat of the county lanes of West Cork where they used to roam in full length unadulterated splendour lol!I
The solar journey will be of real interest as I too would love to have a home free of the ESB rising cost conundrum.
You seem to be attempting to find a cost neutral / best of both worlds balance - I hope you both achieve it!I
There's so much more to come as your patch of paradise screams endless potential.....
Thank you for a great video.
You know what we still don't have a name for our farmhouse. We had just thought of the local town land adding farmhouse to the end, but still undecided🤔
The yellow shorts are not looking so yellow anymore, more of a dirty mustard colour, however they are still his go to every morning while it's warm 🤣
Yes the solar will be very interesting to have hooked up, along with the thermal water heating system, we really wait 😊
Love watching you guys, but l had to laugh when you said it's really hot at 25°, here in Australia 45° is really hot.
Well it's relative really lol, we lived in Dubai so know what hot means. That said when it's 26 at night to 42 next day it's not that massive of a jump. When it's 8 at night to 25... Were just not ready 😂
If you get a Solar Powered Car, you could use the batteries in that to power the house at night, as they do in Amsterdam.
Yes we could do this, and may we'll look into it more when we get the solar installed. We had a ln electric charger for our car at our last house, but to use as a battery is a great idea 😊
when you have a sit on lawnmower, you know youve finally made it
Until you run over a log and break the belt, that same day🙈🤣
Another brilliant vlog ! Thanks for taking us on yer travels doing all the things ! 😊
Glad you enjoyed it! 😊
Congratulations on 9k subs !! ✌️💚🥂
Thank you so much 😀
All coming together now,you won't feel it till you have upstairs finished. I'd imagine a bottle or two will be cracked open to celebrate all yer hard work.
You never know Denise! But yes it will feel awesome to have the kids rooms finished 😁
Great video, wish i could go deep sea fishing.
You should!😊
Not all who wonder...are lost!!❤
👍
❤🎉 Awesome!
Thankyou 😍
Love watching your progress and look forward to seeing the finished product. Can’t help but wonder how in the world you finance everything? The property, tools, equipment, travel, cars, boat, snorkeling, and basically all you need or want? Just curious.
We both worked fulltime jobs in Ireland and abroad up until about 6 months ago. We sold our previous house and cleared our mortgage and all loans. At that stage we planned and bought what we would need for the build, which I'm so glad we did because everything we bought such as trailer, tools, mini tractor lawnmower were all so necessary. We also sold my car and kept Rob's as we had no need for two cars. We have always had a boat from when the kids were very small, so that just came with us 🙂
@ I knew you both have such good work ethics and skills you can do anything, so doubted you were born with silver spoons in your mouths. Nice to see people working to achieve their dreams rather than waiting for it to just happen. Love seeing how you each figure out a way to overcome new challenges and steadily reach each daily goal while taking time to enjoy the ride lol! Would love to be able to dive with you.
Love the black tiles
Yes, they work really well with the white wall, almost slate like. They were very cheap, we should have got more !
We had chef Paul Prudhommes blackened seasoning on our halibut for dinner, and omg ! 😊
Wow, that sounds unreal 😍
@WestCorkWander so so so yummy Paul Prudhomme seasoning is the best for blackend white fish for us, its halibut, use a cast iron skillet get it as hot as you can prep your fish with seasoning blacken both sides pour a bit of melted butter and lemon juice after cooked 😋
Lovely video! 😊
You are so kind 😊
Great catch Clare!
Not bad, although I didn't catch the Pollack this time 😊
Nice haircut,Rob!😊
Thanks, quick short and the sides thanks to Clare 😄
Really looking forward to seeing how your solar plans go, hopefully going to be getting some in myself
So looking forward to seeing how ye get on with it!
All experimental in this house Aisling, but we are very much looking forward to getting them hooked up. Hoping to pick up another secondhand unit soon also 😊
I’d say you’ll probably need more supplies of all kinds for the party barn 🎉
Oh gosh yes definitely Trish. The only thing I feel we will have going forward with that is building knowledge. It's actually quite a small barn 🙂
Looking very Robert Shaw like from Jaws Big Man😂
Haha, Rob loved that comment😊
Holy Mackerel Batman
Thanks Trish, however most of them were tiny little joeys, as small as sardines🙄
Another 👍
Thanks Maureen 🙂
❤❤❤
😍
Have to admit I took a couple minute catnap while mowing, but awoke to see the final few frames😂
Thank you for being honest, maybe slightly too much mowing 🤣
There have been a couple of studies that have shown a link between the genes for ADHD and the tendency to explore and try new things. I would argue that this same adventurous spirit is probably necessary to tackle a major home renovation like I see in a lot of RUclips videos. I wonder if those genes for ADHD are what makes it hard for so many of the people who engage in these projects to stay on task.
Don’t get me wrong on this. I am not especially criticizing this couple’s ability to stay on task. I have been watching several different home renovation RUclips channels recently and the subject has been percolating in the back of my mind,
Thanks for your comment. I guess we are only two people, and we are the only two people working on this project. This means we have to prioritise which job comes first. Up until now we have concentrated on only getting jobs done which involved the receipts that we have submitted for the grant. Now we are catching up on everything else, hopefully in some kind of order from room to room.
Hello!!😂❤
Thanks for wandering with us 😊
