I started keto 4 weeks ago, eating too much crap when I was renovating, I can have black coffee with a double cream top 😁 no carbs potatoes etc I can eat some veg which is good and some fruit but not the sugar loaded fruit biggest issue for me was tea with no sugar so just have raspberry tea for now, make my own nut granola etc, feel better and lost quite a lot of weight, good luck to you both x
Yes not sure keto would be good for you with everything you’re doing, I had terrible headaches for a few days, carb and sugar withdrawal (and tea) and after about 7 days I had a dizzy spell, grabbed some orange juice to sort that out, it all evened out after a week but you can’t have a week off so maybe not for you x
the bubbling of the paint can sometimes be caused by stuff called destemper that was used years ago on walls in old houses, if your getting reactions over some of the old paint coat them with oil based undercoat and it should seal it for you before you use emulsion,
You both keep thanking us for being here, well I thank you for posting your videos. I’d still like to see you cooking whatever you will be eating during your carnivore diet. Have heard many good things about it. Have a great day ❤️
Great idea to clean your diet, you'll never regret it! I was on a paleo diet once, even though that term didn't exist at that time but it helped me to clean my candida out. I had been eating very consciously before but after living with a diet like that you come back into cooking with a different approach. I never buy any processed food or anything that has more than 3 ingredients listed. it's a great rule for me. Making my own food from basics is so much fun and so versatile. I agree with Clare about the veggies: a good mix normally comes in automatically as you will feel more what your body wants (which is what it needs). And that makes all the difference. Great to see you went for a swim when we had such great weather for 4 days in a row! It makes such a difference to have some fun and relaxation. I love your videos because of the good humour, the jokes and honesty in all you do. Thanks for doing them!
Hi. Just watched your video. My wife and I did the carnivore diet for our wedding and honeymoon. We lost weight and felt healthier. The only drawback is that our fibre intake was down so we kinda became a bit constipated. Because of this we recommend keeping in something like sweet potato and some fruit. Good luck with the diet. By the way, we are currently house sitting in Schull.
That is awesome! I'll give you a wave from the top of the hill 😀 We are feeling quite good on the diet for the moment, but we would definitely like to introduce fruits later on 🙂
That's York cabbage Rob, I love York cabbage.. Definitely I feel the same way about process food's it's killing us literally and our children with all the hidden sugars and all the other c..p in everything. Claire and Rob you are both doing an amazing job.👏👏👏 That sea I can't believe that is here in Ireland gorgeous 👍 👍😉🇨🇮☘️Eire
My 92 year old father is diabetic. A few years ago his blood sugars sky rocketed to dangerous levels. We have been on the same basic diet you talk about, with a couple of small differences. We drink coffee in the morning, with cream, no sugar. We also drink milk with our lunch and supper. I had to learn to cook all over again.
Love the cooking bit. I'm a big advocate for that diet but I've fallen off the waggon with it recently. You have motivated me to get back on it. Gave up sugar in my tea in January which was a big thing for me but just can't seem to stay away from bread and sugar recently! I agree it makes me feel awful after eating it.
Big big learning curve in this house. Well done for giving it a lash. I think the only way is for everyone to be on the same page. So Rob, Ciara and I are full carnivore, however Ash isn't a big meat eater, so kinda letting him find his way for the moment. But there seems to be a huge following for it, we were clearly late to the party 🤣
Over the past two weeks I've changed my diet too. Meat, poultry and fish make up 85% of what I'm currently eating. And nothing after 4:00 p m. Good luck to you both, hope you are feeling 100% soon!
Every Paddy’s Day over here in America people eat corned beef and cabbage, but I’ve actually heard that is like an insult to the Irish. They ate that when they migrated here because it was the cheapest food they could afford. So every Paddy’s Day I make a lamb stew, I feel like I’m not being rude with that. 😅💚 As far as cutting out foods, I had to stop eating gluten because my body stopped digesting it properly, and I’d end up with these horrible stomach pains. And now that I’ve hit menopause my metabolism has severely slowed down as well, so I’ve found that if I just eat smaller portions I feel better and don’t gain weight. Good luck on your carnivore journey, and you could still share with us what you’re eating, because your meals may inspire others! 😊❤
@@WestCorkWander I have, but I have a very skinny husband and a very skinny 10 year old daughter and they both love carbs, I couldn’t take rice and potatoes away from them. 😅 I have replaced some things like rice bowls with grilled chicken, I put my chicken on top of lintels instead.
Thanks, another great episode! We are cheering you on to get it all done for the vacant grants timeline. Quick question, how did you get an electrician to sign off on the work that you did yourself? & how did you teach yourself, and do you have any advice around how to learn also. Also meant to say, in relation to an earlier episode of yours when you were wondering about how the residents of the islands, Cape & Sherkin in particular, get their food delivered to them. Fields in Skib have an app, so you can make the orders online and then they do deliveries approx 3 times a week to the pier, the ferry brings it over & residents collect it from the boat (or get the island taxi to deliver it home). Main thing is to make sure you don't let it sit on the pier too long as the seagulls will get at them.
Great thanks for watching! We have a wonderful electrician who's watchful eye is on everything we do. We wanted to complete as much of the build as possible ourselves, and it is not easy to find an electrician like this, who is willing to give their time to us. At the end of the day, he will double check absolutely everything and fit our new consumer unit. Rob is pretty knowledgeable on electrics through past experience and RUclips, so we knew what we needed to purchase and checked everything prior with the electrician. I suppose because we wanted to do so much ourselves, we spent the last few years researching as much as possible, through other RUclips channels, forums etc. Yes it's wonderful to hear of how the Islanders gets their essentials, we did consider Island life, but I think that may have been just a bit too challenging, especially a build/renovation 🤣
@@WestCorkWander Cool, all makes sense & we will aim to do the same, it has just been super hard to find electricians who will do same for island based work. Definitely adds another layer of costs, logistics & complexity to coordinate getting skilled people, building materials & tools out to the island. You have to factor in windfinder, roro times, whether you need to bring a ten tonne+ lorry onto the island, or can it come over on the ferry etc. It definitely adds an extra layer and time frame to it all for sure.
My husband and I did carnivore for 5 months. We both lost around 40lbs each. I did not give up coffee, just drank it black. I still try to keep my carbs extremely low. Hubble has gone back to normal diet. I am a meat eater anyways and he loves sweets.
Dinner looks yummy! American bacon is way too fatty. When I lived in Scotland I really enjoyed the bacon there. So much better! Hang in there with the wall! You’ve both come such a long way!
Processed food is so bad for us but soo damn good. I try to stay keto, hubby does carnivore easily, but I love my veggies. I stick to above ground veggies so no potatoes, carrots etc. Adding things like mint or ginger to the boiled water to replicate tea helps too. good luck

Fry the pork or bacon in a frying pan, ideally a cast iron pan, with a little butter or oil until it is cooked through. Once it is cooked, remove it from the heat and place it in a covered bowl or similar to keep it warm. Don’t wash or remove the fat from the pan - you’ll be using it again for the cake. 2. In a bowl, whisk the eggs with the salt so they break up. Add the flour and whisk until you have a lump-free batter. Then add the milk and whisk until it is well blended. 3. Heat up the same frying pan you used for the pork and add a little butter or oil. On medium heat, add all the batter to the frying pan. Let it set for a few minutes, then use a spatula gently scrape one or a few thick sheets of egg cake from the bottom, so that new batter comes in contact with the pan’s bottom. Repeat this - you don’t want to stir, but gently move the batter around every now and then so it can set, without burning the bottom. 4. You know that you’re ready to flip the cake when the sides of the egg cake come off from the pan when you nudge them, the edges and bottom have become golden, and most of the batter starts to set. Get a lid of the same size as the pan. Rinse the lid with water, then cover the pan and turn it upside down so the cake comes on top of the lid. Put the pan back on the stove and add a bit more butter or oil. Gently slide the cake down into the pan so you get the already fried side facing upwards. 5. Let the egg cake cook on the second side until it turns golden and is set. 6. Serve it with the pork or bacon, and maybe fried slices of apple and lingonberry jam if you have it.." the recipe i wrote is the basic ingredients but if you want it more creamy then put in more milk and egg, and if you want your own touch on it then you can do that to. hope it is a recipe you want to try out and have a great day! :)
I've lived in Ukraine now for just over 12 months . In the UK I was addicted to processed foods , tinned stuff and microwave meals . But over here you just cannot find much in the way of processed foods , and because I am no longer living alone I cook proper meals to eat with my partner . We eat loads of fruit and veggies , and we eat real meat and loads of fish . I haven't lost any weight (probably gained some tbh) but I am certainly feeling much better than before and I have more energy .
The weather last week was the best of the summer. Starting a diet, like keto is tough. but keep very disciplined and the weight will steadily fall off. I found the only way to keep tracke of things, was to use an app like Lifesum. Yes you have to enter ingredients and weigh things, but there's no other way. Dr Berg has some good tips, but I guess you don't have time to be watching videos. Then there's also the microbiome diet with Tim Spector. Hope you can easily deal with the pink paint issue, perhaps it needs some stablising with PVA. Kieron at Albany paints in Skib would advise.
Bloxx it primer for that pink paint use a mini roller.. Be grand Re do thhe whole room With the mini roller and white paint Been there have The t shirt Goodluck with the new eating habit lose. The. D word 😮 Mind over matter Who wants to live forever 😅 Red wine the healthy option and coffee wiith no milk maybe Baileys.
Angle grinding that render without a mask. Look after yourself man. Heart definitely wasn't in either of those jobs. The bacon and cabbage looked top tier. Shame you didn't get more footage of your swim, would have been good to see you wind down after the horrible jobs. Have been going for a dip myself to wash away the blues from the daily missions. Interested to hear where you sourced your half cow.
Freedive breath hold training technique 🤣🤣🤣 there's. Sensation bit of aquatic adventure next Wed 👌👌👌 As for winding down... You need to get to Barleycove for a sunset swim!! Walking over the floating bridge and seeing those waves dance in the twilight was mesmerizing. Fascinating history to those sand dunes. Longish drive but worth it once in a while. Waters lovely and warm now, only put on the wetsuits if we'll be in over an hour or 2. Our (cattle farmer) neighbour recommended odonoghues butcher in bantry but I'm sure there is a similar one in your town. Our cow is still walking his field and will be butchered in the next week or so. Can't get a better Providence than that, great to be able to pick and choose the cut too. And the sausages are unreal!!!
Lads, can I just ask you said you bought half a heafer? Off the butcher I'm guessing, how much did that set you back ? Cheers fair play to yous love the vids 👍
Aah lads. I did keto for the guts of a year which sounds v close to what you’re describing. - lost 2 stone in the process. Felt great throughout after the first few days adjusting. Currently off it for a period (there are reasons unrelated) and have gained back too much of what I lost so will be returning to it shortly. My go to was being able to drink lots of coffee (I drink it black) and if I had a sweet craving, I would make a ‘chocolate mousse’ out of cream cheese, u sweetened cocoa powder sweetened with a bit of stevia.
@@WestCorkWanderit will cravings do go away but if you need something sweet Maria Emmerich’s chocolate pudding is so good and I’ve served it and people just think it’s a mousse. Made with boiled or scrambled eggs so protien rich.
I was just wondering why the plaster hasn’t been sanded flat on the walls and the holes filled? It looks so uneven on the screen. Hopefully it isn’t like that in reality. I admire everything they do but the plaster finish does puzzle me.
Good job lads for trying the Carnivore diet! I’m excited to see how you get on…it’s been on my mind after doing a lot of research. Perhaps you can inspire others to try with some creative recipes for meat? I can’t imagine eating nothing but meat…
I’ve been eating carnivore/low carb keto (20 carbs or less) for 18 months. Reversed my type 2 diabetes 3 months from starting. Got rid of fatty liver and my labs are all stellar. I drink black coffee every morning I’ve just gotten rid of grains, sugar and processed foods especially seed oils. I rarely find anything processed that doesn’t have something in it not good for you so I don’t eat it. After you’ve eaten carnivore or low carb for a while all veggies start to taste very sweet. Beware of the keto flu if you go cold turkey off carbs. I felt horrible for over a week but my glucose monitor was in the green so I stuck to it it goes away as does your hunger. 65 lbs lost and have never felt healthier. If you add intermittent fasting to it you will be amazed at your results (Dr Jason Fung). Your liver makes the small amount of glucose you need (glucogenesis) and your heart thrives on ketones as does the rest of your cells. When first starting eat plenty of animal fat and butter to your meals to crank up satiety and you will find you won’t get hungry and may even forget to eat. A 24-48 hr fast will be a breeze something I was unable to do on carbs. So many benefits to fasting. I look forward to seeing you guys progress if you have questions feel free to ask. My history is in the medical field but I’ve done vast amounts of research on carnivore since starting this journey. Won’t ever go back. ❤️ your channel
Forgot to add….electolytes super important. Up the salt, magnesium and potassium especially when working. Dizziness or feeling weak on carnivore is 9 out of ten electrolytes needed. I started with LMNT because it was easy and tasty. Now I supplement with magnesium glycinate and potassium and rarely need the extra electrolytes. So if in doubt add salt because you may lose a lot of fluid initially and along with the fluid magnesium and potassium get lost. Wished someone had told me this at the start. 😁

@@WestCorkWanderyou can use tape measure if you don’t have scales. I tried the carnivore diet, but I have never been a great meat eater, I prefer veges, & have allergy to fish. One thing I noticed was my skin really improved & I did lose 7 kilos. Good luck with it. House is coming along well, sometimes the last stretch is the hardest! Cheers! 😊

6. Serve it with the pork or bacon, and maybe fried slices of apple and lingonberry jam if you have it.."
the recipe i wrote is the basic ingredients but if you want it more creamy then put in more milk and egg, and if you want your own touch on it then you can do that to.
hope it is a recipe you want to try out and have a great day! :)
Sounds delish! We'd love to try it!! Super, thanks!
Always best to go by feel,🥰🥰
Portion control Rob!
Was for our teenage son, he was just back for a days sailing in the school. Hungry kiddos!
Hey. Maybe you’ll can eat what you want and then work out…? Just a long walk will help. Great content so thank you 🙏
Great idea
The weather last week was the best of the summer. Starting a diet, like keto is tough. but keep very disciplined and the weight will steadily fall off. I found the only way to keep tracke of things, was to use an app like Lifesum. Yes you have to enter ingredients and weigh things, but there's no other way. Dr Berg has some good tips, but I guess you don't have time to be watching videos. Then there's also the microbiome diet with Tim Spector. Hope you can easily deal with the pink paint issue, perhaps it needs some stablising with PVA. Kieron at Albany paints in Skib would advise.
Great thanks, super tips 🥰
😊😊
🥰🥰
Place is looking good. Did you do a undercoat on the gyprock before the top coat. Good luck with your diet.

Red wine the healthy option and coffee wiith no milk maybe Baileys.
Lots of strong truths there 🥰🥰
Angle grinding that render without a mask.
Sensation bit of aquatic adventure next Wed 👌👌👌
As for winding down...
@@WestCorkWander haha, freedive breathing and safety squints, PPE of real men.
Primer first.
Easier to use the same paint as both primer and final coat. Works for us 🥰
Lads, can I just ask you said you bought half a heafer? Off the butcher I'm guessing, how much did that set you back ? Cheers fair play to yous love the vids 👍
Bout 450 for cow side and 200 butcher fee
That should read unsweetened cocoa powder
That sounds perfect we're still early and trying to not have anything sweet at all. It's a slippery slope, hopefully being strict works!
@@WestCorkWanderit will cravings do go away but if you need something sweet Maria Emmerich’s chocolate pudding is so good and I’ve served it and people just think it’s a mousse. Made with boiled or scrambled eggs so protien rich.
Gotta ask,are plasterers in short supply in Cork?
I was just wondering why the plaster hasn’t been sanded flat on the walls and the holes filled? It looks so uneven on the screen. Hopefully it isn’t like that in reality. I admire everything they do but the plaster finish does puzzle me.
It's not for everyone, we love it 🥰
I lost 32 lbs real quick on the meat diet and my cholesterol pre diabetes are gone!!🎉🎉
That's fantastic, well done you!
Good job lads for trying the Carnivore diet! I’m excited to see how you get on…it’s been on my mind after doing a lot of research.
Perhaps you can inspire others to try with some creative recipes for meat? I can’t imagine eating nothing but meat…
Us too! But when you wash away the suger cravings all the food tastes better 🥰
Love hearing stories like this, well done you!
I'm very interested in how your diet goes. Please let us know how it goes for you.
Definitely, will do!
I want to see the carnivore diet meals ye cook.
At the moment they are incredibly boring, so we will have to try and spice them up a bit before that 🙂
Holy cow lads keep out from the homestead fence or ye be dead meat, head for the hills to stay safe.🐃
Girls looking pretty tasty... Tell Mike to bring em back next door 🤣🤣
@@WestCorkWander they just sneaked back in the dark they may be keeping their distance tomorrow
Yeah we read that. Using a lot of Himalayan sea salt. Seems to work but we do forget and need to add it to a drink. Balance for sure.
Why didn’t you run the thermostat up along n down to the light switch??? Better to to it how you want it
Some wires you can extend others you can't. Unfortunately
Atkins diet worked for me.
Funny how the science is only coming out now to support it!
Keto would suit as you grow veg ,, and you can have coffee
Think we will move back to some sort of balance... Like carnivore + whatever we grow ourselves. It is making us think what to grow next year!
Red sky at night , Shepherds delight....Red sky in the morning , Shepherds warning , (from Dad) , bonna na mo (from Mum)..there it was......gone (from Dad) Dad Balbrigan , Mum Kerry
Love it 🥰🥰🥰
Intermittent fasting and lowish carbs I shed 10 kilos. It's a lifestyle not a diet.
I like this approach, well done you 😊
Are you an electrician? I thought It was illegal to do electrical work in Ireland if you are not a qualified electrician.
We feel like electricians now believe me but no we are not.
We have a wonderful electrician who's watchful eye is on everything we do. We wanted to complete as much of the build as possible ourselves, and it is not easy to find an electrician like this, who is willing to give their time to us. At the end of the day, he will double check absolutely everything and fit our new consumer unit. Rob is pretty knowledgeable on electrics through past experience and RUclips, so we knew what we needed to purchase and checked everything prior with the electrician 😊
Do men lose weight faster than women? Would be interesting to keep track of that while your on your diet.
I suppose, we don't have a working scales tho, it's more a how we feel and checking to see if we need a new wardrobe 🤣🤣
@@WestCorkWanderyou can use tape measure if you don’t have scales. I tried the carnivore diet, but I have never been a great meat eater, I prefer veges, & have allergy to fish. I lasted about a month or so on carnivore, I just could not face any more meat. So added more veges & less meat. Keto seems to suit me better. One thing I noticed was my skin really improved & I did lose 7 kilos. Good luck with it. House is coming along well, sometimes the last stretch is the hardest! Cheers! 😊
I do think he eats more meat than you…he stood there and ate almost all of that ham all to himself!
Well said 😂

I eat .bread very little but.. with my bacon egg in morning.. so much crap in US food convenience foods ..are not good for us..drying apples today😊
Yes think we'll only do the odd bread we make in future. Love the drying apples idea, we just stewed and froze ours mostly
@@WestCorkWander dried apples tomatoes good snack
@@WestCorkWanderI always stew our apples but this past summer ( Australia) a friend encouraged me to roast our apples on an oven tray on low for 45 minutes cover with baking paper. Small amount of water , 😂sugar and cloves. Removes cloves at end 😂and freeze . Amazing. Pears the same with sprinkle wit cardamom or star of anise plus sprinkle with sugar for nth , it’s caramelises . Freeze as is and it’s yum. Tomotaoes cooked similar with garlic, capsicum and olive oil. So good
No veg oils .process your lard that's what I eat ..bacon fats.. sour cream. On a small tator won't hurt. I eat sour krout for gut..
They are all great ideas!! Thanks!
