Please show lots of videos showing you processing the trees into kindling and logs. As a 66 year old ( young at heart ❤️, my knees say differently😂) my most favourite job is going about the farm collecting wood and tidying the land as I go and filling my log store to full capacity. Please keep up the good work.
Will do, already filming that 🤣
A major clean up around your house costs nothing and will give focus and a roadmap to the future plans which are great. Happy New Year.
Happy new year! Yes a cleanup is next on the cards for sure 😊
❤🎉 Like your plans very much. Start the clean-up ASAP. Clearing up trees and getting your electrical and plumbing buried and in, consider placement of the electrical and plumbing for tiny homes along the way. Anything that involves digging get er done, less mess once done. Driveways, too. I guess that would be called foundation projects? Then, since its of no monetary costs, dig up and move the old cottage soil n plants into place and put up the windows for the conservatory. A small win to keep you motivated. In-between the solar. Another foundation project. That's nuff for know! Lol best of the New Year to you all!❤🎉
I like your thoughts, let's get going 💪
Wow what great plans! I think its the 25yr plan 😂 We moved into our house 29yrs ago working on the 25yr plan Guess what ? We are still at it😂😂😂 Good luck to you all You will have an amazing family home if it doesn't kill you first Its a hard slog ❤
Yes this slightly worries me, however let's see how we go 💪
That looks like a ton or five of firewood! I would store what i could and see if any neighbours would like to help themselfes to a few loads. Building up the deadwood hedge and burn the rest of the branches. Loads of work but i can imagine the space all green in summertime with wildflowers poping up from seeds buried deep just waiting for a spot in the newely opened soil 😍
Your place is absolutely lovely and its so nice to get to see the whole farm!
Thankyou so much for watching 😊
@@WestCorkWander if you can borrow a woodchipper that would render the branches into a usefull product. Before you get to dig the roads you could 'paint' them inn with woodchips and be able to use them in the dryer periods with lightweight cars etc.
When I think of a party barn I am reminded of a great barn party I went to that had a giant swing that you could jump from into a giant pile of hay. That was spectacular. Great work guys.
I can picture that swing! What a great memory 💗
Wow - my head is spinning at all of those wonderful ideas. Can't wait to see the overall site, garden, hedges, outbuildings, barns, tiny houses etc take shape. I particularly love your ideas for repurposing those old doors & windows as a conservatory. The Annual Bloom Gardening show in the Phoenix park had a wonderful example of such a building back in 2018 or 2019 ???. IMHO, I think you should safeguard your beautiful views & NOT build a gym there - a barrel sauna could be a compromise.....🤔
Ooh we must check that out, I used to go to Bloom so perhaps I did see it. Love the sauna idea!
As a landscaper would label 2 or more sticks with 1ft or 30 cm measurements up the whole lenght, so you can work out how great your fall is from the driveway. Unless you get lots of free soil, building anything against the shed is a no, no, as your land slopes into the front of the shed/workshop.
Water flows, wind, sun direction, and children growing up and leaving home, all have to be considered.
Personally would get a professional to design your drainage from driveway, live on top of a slope, in heavy down pours rain would gouge out the shingle on the driveway, put in a swale which most people don't see, because they don't see the finer details.
Thankyou so much for your help here, yes we clearly need to sit down and do some planning 🙂
Once you focus your efforts on making the clearance, the place itself will tell you which project comes next. The idea of creating an income from holiday lets would seem to be an important step in the right direction, so even if you don't have the finances in place to get those completed, doing the groundwork around that area would make it easier to bring that into being. It will be fun to follow the journey, whatever you decide to focus on, it looks like there are a few years of videos ahead :)
Thanks Ellen, yes plenty to come! And a whole lot of planning 🙂
Excellent plans! Love the inspiration photos too. Could you put a gym for your son near the pool? It would be cool to look out at the pool while working out. Maybe build the tiny homes and party barn/event space and rent out all of those spaces for income? No matter what you decide, I’m sure it will be beautiful! Best of luck! 😊❤🍀
Great ideas thank you so much for sharing 😊
So many plans can't wait. A good clean up and wood chopping to get you started and yes definitely get going on the rentals to help pay for the upkeep and future projects, it's all so exciting for us but so much hard work for you both so don't burn yourself out ❤
That's the plan! Plenty to keep us busy 😁
Glamping pods, alot of work in the future! Good luck
Thankyou for your ideas 😊
You did ask! I would love to see the debris outside of the house levelled/cleared for your new patio & your tiny courtyard outside your bedroom constructed.
Yes we have just started the tidy up and it is amazing how good the place starts to look 😊
"Just an old sycamore", lol. I love sycamores but they are very rare where I am 😢
If this were my lot, the first thing I'd do is organize all the materials on site. Doing so would also result in clearing the outbuildings a bit. I wouldn't want to simply move a pile 'out of the way' just to tackle a project for fear I'd be moving it again and again. I'd want to set it up like a building supply lot: stone with stone, lumber with lumber, steel with steel, glass with glass, etc. I'm the person who tries to clean as I go because I can't visualize or plan when my space is unorganized. As for which project to do first... I'd do the one I'm most passionate/excited to see done. Whatever you decide, I'm sure it'll be spectacular. I look forward to following you on the next phase of your journey ❤.
You and me both Kathleen! Thank you for your words of organization, sometimes I wish we were a bit better at this ☺️💗
Love the question of what would we do! First, make the rental property. Second, tidy up area. Third, make the gym for your son! Your renters and guests might like to use it. Just my 2 cents worth. ;)
Yes, endless options, and it is so easy to be distracted by something that may not need to be done 🙄
Such exciting times for you all! Great plans ahead! It’s really smart to go over these plans with all of us! Looking forward to seeing all of this happen!!
Thanks so much! Happy New Year 😍
Hi, love your walk through of what you want to do ❤ when you mentioned the ivy on the trees... I recently watched a nature show saying leave the ivy. It is supposed to protect the trees/houses contrary to popular belief, the removal is what causes damage. Might be worth checking out.
Thanks for sharing!! I think you are right in some ways, however we do have some trees which are suffocated with ivy grow, and do some cutting back is necessary.
Great plans, love the visuals, I saw the tree trunks and thought they’d make great table tops and then you said it😁 you’ve achieved a huge amount this year, wishing you a very Happy New Year, look forward to 2025 ❤
Thanks so much! 😊 Happy New Year 🎊💗💐
The Party Barn should be an upside down house, bedrooms downstairs, and Party space with views and large windows upstairs.
Nice idea, thankyou 😊
Wow- what plans! The tiny homes are a good idea for sure. You will need something to deaden the traffic sounds in time for them but that’s a challenge for down the road. I enjoyed hearing your ideas for the whole property. And Rob, I’m with you on the raspberries. I buy and freeze mine but I will have a garden when my house is finished this year and there will deffo be razzers planted.
Haha love it! Yes the road will be a challenge but is also a great plus with the lower driveway access, lots to plan, as I'm sure you do this year with your garden planting 😉
Great ideas and can't wait to follow along. I am sure you know and follow Chris Harbor, great channel for similar projects.
Now to be compared to Chris, that's quite the compliment, thank you 😉
Tidy up !
👍
Whatever you decide to do next, one thing you can be sure of is - we’ll all come along for the ride 😀
Happy New Year to you and yours 🥳🍾🥂
Ah thankyou, and Happy New Year Madeleine 😍
Meilleurs vœux !
Happy New Year 🎊
Love to see your vision for the place. Amazing plans folks - looking forward to following along and watch it evolve and come together. Happy new year folks x
Thanks guys, Happy New Year! New Year's Day spent clearing trees, onwards and upwards 😁
Can't wait for 2025 to watch the progress you are going to make, I never really realised how much land you have wow. Your ideas sound amazing. Happy New Year to you all ❤🏴
Happy new year! 😍
I think your ideas and plans are great. 🎉Happy 2025 to you and your family🎉
Thank you! You too! 😊
Looking forward to following you on your adventures. Happy New Year 🎉🎉
Happy new year!! 🤗
Hello, Hope your Christmas was wonderful, and I pray your New Year will be prosperous for you all. The plans for the land sounds amazing. First step would be clearing the land, All stones in one area, rent a wood chipper, that can also help you for around the plants or parking with the gravel stones. then rent a bobcat the dig, carry and push heavy boulders or tree stomps. Looking forward to see the plans come into fruition. Blessings to you all, from NY
Happy holidays! Thankyou for your ideas and help 😊
I like what you're going to do, but Happy new year to you and your family
And Happy New Year to you also ❣️💐🎊
Oooh...all very exciting people. I'm looking forward to seeing these plans of yours unfold. Happy New Year 🎈🎉🎈🎉🎈🥂🥂
Happy new year!! 😊
Wonderful plans I can really with the added in pictures. See what it’ll be like. I think it’s wonderful. I’m not quite sure about the spaces with with the barns and the workshop but I think that’s me not getting it. I agree with having an income when it comes to the self-sufficiency, you know you may be able tohave someone come and stay and work work with you on the garden you know sort of a working vacation or they learn or something that might be really cool.
Thanks Annie, that's a lovely idea 😊
Consider hosting Forest School events/camps- down the track a bit, however there's a strong movement in returning to a more natural form of schooling.
Also, there's often grants for restoration of hedgerows- trees/treelings made available for hedgerowing- which can lead into workshop/field days for education, hosting these will help your property and others moving forward.
Same goes with beekeeping workshops- you don't have to be the educator, you can be the host.
All the things- stonewall/mason, permaculture design, on and on- there's at the least two generations yearning for the skillsets and being the host property and sourcing the facilitator for a weekend course byo camping gear, etc is a low cost point/high return -( in education, community building, resource sharing, etc)
some ideas to explore, perhaps? esp in the year 1&2 of the next phases?
I love these ideas! My career was in adult education and training and I think facilitating learning is a very noble and necessary endeavor.
Thankyou what great ideas! Definitely something to consider, thankyou 🙂
Great ideas! Would make a lovely BNB
Thankyou, watch this space 😉
Chop on!
💪💪💗
Happy New Year!!!! Wishing you and your family good health and prosperity in 2025!!!
Happy New Year to you too 💐❣️
Amazing plans, love that you attached pictures of potential ideas to give us all a clear view. Can I ask where you sourced your 1000 native hedgerow whips from? Keep the wonderful content coming 😊
Future Forests 😊
HPpy new year to you and your family🎉
Happy New Year 😍
Happy new year !! we have just started our cottage - we have a party barn, had our first event last saturday. love watching your videos - very helpful to newbies like us :)
Happy new year!! We'll have to check you guys out 😉
@ thanks a million - any pointers gratefully received ♥️
Brilliant plans guys! Can't wait to continue the journey with you. Love your videos!
Thanks so much Mary! Happy New Year 🎊
...there might be a gym here... happy new year, what a year it's been. You have done so much ❤
Big dreams, but who knows, we just need to knuckle down and get going 💪
You have a wonderfully ambitious plan for your land, I’m exhausted by it all. I’m sure it will look fantastic as you tackle each project. The idea of tiny rental units is a good one, it should generate some income for you. I would assume your plans are flexible and will probably change somewhat as your life and family move on. I would think a gym not an urgent item as your son will not be living at home forever. You have a blank canvas ( once cleared ) to work with, now you need the money and the energy to follow through.
Money and energy, you have that one right 🤣
Fantastic plans, I look forward to watching your videos in the new year. Happy New Year to you all and may 2025 prosper for you, love and blessings from Scotland xx
Same to you! Happy New Year ❤️🎊
Sounds like great plans ahead ❤! Happy New Year 🎉!
Happy new year!! 🎊😊
Love the vision you have. How long do you think it will take to complete this project?
Oh gosh we don't know really, however we don't like standing around for long, so watch this space 😉
What are your favorite cocktails to make?
A Greyhound 😉
@WestCorkWander I will have to search that drink in my cocktails book!
you could rent the barn out for weddings
Yes, great idea, we will have to look into that! Thankyou 😍
Jealous of your "Party Barn"
Well it's a bit off being a party barn, but 🤞 🤣
Just remember you will sadly lose your ash trees. Dieback is taking most of them. Such a tragedy.
Yes it is a sad state of affairs for the Ash 😔
Wonderful plans! 😁Keep it up with good work!🤞 Happy new year!🥂
Happy new year!!💗
@WestCorkWander Thanks!
I think finish around the house and drivway.. then start your work shop youll need a building space for tiny houses etc. Pool last..
Thanks Karen, daunting with where to start! ☺️
