You have your work cut out for but your reward will be great .....you will get there...my husband and I did the same thing ..... I'm 77yrs live in senior living ...your are so like me in the day....fixing up hubby's messes😂I live in the southern Pennsylvania of the Allegheny s Mt lots of love sent you way and stay safe❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Oh yum , that pie looks wonderful. To increase the structure of the meringue, add an acid, like a splash of vinegar or lemon juice. Or cream of tartar. For recipes like pavlova, where the meringue is chewy, add cornflour. Sorry, I think I just wanted to chat about desserts! Cheers from Oz ( house is looking great too! ) 😊
Hi, The sunset was beautiful. I love the smell & taste of citrus fruits. Especially Lemon Curd! I finished a jar just this evening. Clare, would be great, if you could do a cooking class - especially as you're the 'Queen of Lemon Curd!' During December, I'll be making mini lemon cheesecakes from crushed, plain digestive biscuits, mixture of Mascarpone cheese & lemon curd, each dish topped with (unwaxed) lemon zest. I have to wait until December, otherwise I'd make them practically every day. Take care. x
My mother in law always did biscuit base fot lemon meringue. Half digestive and half ginger is delicious. Give it a try Claire!!! Well done as always guys😅😅😅
Hi Rob and Claire, I had a thought that i wanted to share with you both. in the hall where Rob in making long shelf, on the corner piece at the end of the wall from the living room, the wall going midway down the wall, make a nook on the end and make another nook at the opposite side, that way you have three nooks, and two corner nooks to put nick knacks on, long shelf and top nook. box in the water pipes. It would look lovely. Rob you are hilarious, you excitement on the Lemon meringue pie was priceless. On to another issue, Rob please get to sun spots check, i am concerned on the appearance of it. Blessings to you all, From NY
I'm excited to see the shift of focus heading downstairs as there'll be so many wee architectural 'quirks' to be imaginatively overcome / highlighted. Would you consider ripping down a three / four inch strip of larch to add to the front of the shelf so it appeared to be much thicker and substantial piece of timber, and maybe shave the right angle edges with a stanley knife a bit unevenly so it looked older? Plus it'll allow you to pack out the shelf to get it level without having to fill in the horizontal gap with mortar, as the strip added will cover it all - You might have to add a packed to the corbel, but the strip added to the front of the shelf would hide that too anyway - If any of that made sense lol? Until I was your vids I had no idea that Irish waters could be so clear and inviting - The footage is amazing, and it's lovely to see yis both getting some quality time away from the build too. Clare just keeps on keeping on - Geting the proverbial 'stuff' that would wreck my head DONE lol! Glad to see the 'Party Barn' getting a mention, as I reckon it'll be epic! Finally, Rob, Rob, Rob! Whilst my love of learning and trying new culinary delights loves you, my type 2 diabetes sees your activities in the kitchen as a clear and present threat lol! Thank you for a great video.
A good old Phelim essay, well written and completely legible, what typos? 😉 Thanks as always, love your idea actually for the shelf, especially as I wouldn't need to spend time filling in the gaps with mortar. Yes, as you will discover in our next video, we are dieting🤫 Gone full carnivore, so no more sugar or processed foods, could make the cooking interesting, but we will try and get your brown bread in 😉
My mum made Lemon Meringue pie with Robertsons Lemon curd and pastry , 2nd to apple pie it was one of my dads favourites . I'm still waiting for you to make Soda bread , and boiled bacon cabbage and spuds
Hats off Rob- that was a stonkin lemon meringue. I would try a ginger nut base as you say it goes well with lemon ( and I would stud the base with crystallised ginger) mmmmmm😘) I will leave you unchallenged (culinary wise) this week but watch out, there be nios mo challenges comin’ atcha soon!
I saw that you have a humongous tree outside that is cut and intact--think about this one…make a round slice with a chainsaw-then make some boards the same depth, remove the bark and sand it all going up in grit and assemble it into a table any size you like glue all joints after using dowels where needed and then stain/seal-and or season it-you will have a one of a kind table with a circle in the center! You can also make a bunch of 3 legged stools out of smaller width trees! This would make a really cool episode and gorgeous furniture!
Add half a teaspoon of lemon juice, for every egg white,to add structure, to meringue
Ah yes that's what we were missing , thanks 👍
Love lemon meringue pie ! That looks delicious! Loving the cooking segment in your vlogs 😊
Thanks so much! 😊
me too, love them.

Nice, I did wonder why lemon juice was added, now I know 👍
Mouth is watering! I want to make a lemon meringue pie right now!!!
You should!
The larch shelf will be a nice solution to that awkward bit of wall. Nice one.
Yes it sort of lends it's self to a shelf, and I already have too much to display on it 😊
Your pie looks amazing. I love lemon in desserts.
Me too!! Delish 🥰🥰
That lemon meringue looks deadly😊
It felt quite deadly!! Sugar tastic!

Definitely I'll do it in December as I usually make a big batch for presents!
Thank you, Clare. Congratulations on more than nine thousand subscribers!
Glad u had a break in the sea. Frustrating stuff but solar panels and open meringue pie should make up for it!👍
Fingers crossed!
Love being on your magical journey with you thank you
Totally love having you here 🥰🥰
Great job on the meringue pie

Now I'm craving lemon curd😂. Would you need planning for a wind turbine ?

We love having you here also 😊
You guys are killing me today! Hysterical! Lemon meringue pie, fantastic!!
Awww thanks, we try to be serious tho 🥰
I wish I could eat eggs! I have an intolerance to them.
The meringue looked delicious, love your coastline and clear seas 🥰
So good!

Must try that!
I love the indoor window so great to keep that there! And yum love meringue!
Thanks Aisling, not the healthiest but it tasted unreal !
Bit of advice. Light your cigars with a match not a lighter. The lower heat of the match helps preserve the flavour
interesting
@@smiley9872 just something I learned when I went to a proper cigar shop
@@Dubber89 Good to know, I remember my Father saying, never put the cigar in the flame, always above it.
@@smiley9872 yep as you burn the tobacco
Thanks for the tip! 🙂
There is always a fun way to get rid of the sugar rush, especially at night. lol. Enjoyed this video.
It sure is!

Great tip and thanks for that! Rob got a full 3d body scan for moles in Dubai. Sun spots were ok then but annoying none the less
That white pan looks similar to my Waterford cast iron pan, I use it for everything including focaccia and soda bread.. enjoyed being among the fish.
Thanks, it's a fab cast iron pan. Bought for an old pizza oven cleaned it up and it's great here! Amazing underwater!
The thing you made to hold up your shelf is called a corbel they come in really tiny and absolutely enormous sizes
Ahhhh very interesting, thanks!
After all the you will definitely appreciate your beautiful work 💕
🤗 sure will
Oh yummy yummy ❤
Thank you 😋

So many typos in that post, but it won't let me edit it for some reason lol?
I hope it was reasonably legible to yis both lol?

Thermostat nearer the door - 2 feet to the right?
Unfortunately wires don't quite reach that far. Bad planning
Yum😊😊

Shortbread biscuit base ? hobnobs ?
Interesting... We just got the cheapest digestives!
