Nice car dude! I have a 2009 BMW 323i too and imported it from Canada to Michigan, USA. I have a E30 323i also imported but from Germany so i wanted a E90 but the same model as my E30 and i found and bought the one i have now for 5000 US. Was looking at videos of screen installations debating on getting a dash cut screen or this kind of one and i still cant figure out which one i want most. But as i was searching for videos on both yours popped up and the title made me click on the video as i saw 323i in it which surprised me since i barley see any E90 323i’s on RUclips. I know this comment isn’t really related to the video but I’m just happy to see a 323i E90 on RUclips. Im 16 and my E90 is my first car and the car i learned how to drive manual in and the E90 323i is just honestly such a weird spec of a BMW. Im just always thinking of how my car has a 2.5 L I6 and my friends were also confused and surprised on how this type of engine is on a E90 as I and they are used to seeing 3.0 L on this car. Anyways nice car and video, left a sub and like for you.

Did you notice your engine was slanted towards the transmission after this install? I just installed both the engine and transmission mount (BFI) and that’s what I noticed on mine. Everything is lined up properly but now I get slight axel bind

Would this downpipe fit a mk8 gti clubsport?

There is no need to take out the sub frame. Extensions and wobble sockets will get it out no issue at all. I do turbos on these things, install downpipes for customers all the time. It should only be an hour job tops. I do cut off the old exhaust clamps though and 90% where I am are too rusty to reuse anyways.

Great video! I have Golf MK5 from 2004 that the inner wheel arches never has been cleaned on. I definitely gonna do it after seeing your video now. Is it possible to remove all the foam bits completely in the front wheel arches to prevent them from rusting the fenders?

Yes. But also check/remove the plastic shielding under the vehicle and clean. I just had my Altrack undercoated, which involved removing all the panels. There was "30 - 40 lbs" of dirt trapped under there. I saw the pile, it looked abuot 2-3 gal equivalent volume of salty dirt! It had been 3 years since last removed. This is a problem! In the future, I will do this annually. Interesting, I called VW and was told that they do find some dirt and stated that some folks take them off altogether. I am still contemplating that "solution".

Thanks for the detailed video. Just to add, the notch is helpful/critical, yes, but there's something almost equally important for replacement. VW (or equivalent) tool #T10531/1 and #T10531/2 are must haves per Erwin. Haynes explains, "[this tool] will keep pressure on the crankshaft pulley/vibration damper, the timing chain sprocket and the crankshaft, preventing any movement." Basically, during the period of final removal of the main bolt and installation of it there WILL be movement with these three inner parts unless you have the tool to keep constant pressure in that area the whole time. It's a relatively cheap part and straightforward enough to use, so totally worth it for at least peace of mind. Anyway, thanks' for documenting and the good images for us!

Did you use an impact gun to remove the carrier bolts? Those are a bitch to remove if the car is not on a lift. No leverage at all with just jack stands

This was a pain, I broke the same plastic clip you did on the right side lol. But all good the dashcam fits nicely and works! For removing the rain sensor connector, I used a 90 degree pick to push on the small tab of the connector and then pulled out. Much easier with a helper to push it in while the other person pulls it out. After 7 months of use, have you had any issues with the camera or SD card that came with it?
