It was hard for me to find any info on this that was straightforward, so glad it helped! It was really loud with the decat, but I just added a OEM resonator to clean up the noise, and it's perfect!
There is no need to take out the sub frame. Extensions and wobble sockets will get it out no issue at all. I do turbos on these things, install downpipes for customers all the time. It should only be an hour job tops. I do cut off the old exhaust clamps though and 90% where I am are too rusty to reuse anyways.
The issue isn't socket access. You don't even need extensions or wobble sockets. The issue is the fact that the catalytic converter on this new generation of cars is so large that the pipe cannot come out of the gap between the subframe and the front limited slip diff/ transfer case. Have you done a downpipes on a 2022+ AWD car with the magna rear differential yet? I'm guessing not if you need to cut clamps. On the MK7 the cats are much smaller and it's a super easy job. I'd be interested to hear.
They are all the same as the MK7. I had the repair manual at the time from a friend of mine. You can find them online. I’d have to search for them again to find them.
There’s nothing in them in North America but even if you’re in Europe those secondary cats probably wouldn’t throw a cel because there’s no o2 after them
@@VWTalk Hi, I also got a 2024 mk8. I recently picked up a full exhaust from IPE, are you saying that the car won't produce a CEL? Based off of your previous response, if you're not having a CEL with a catless downpipe then I should be fine with my high flow 200 cell race cat. Great video btw, I'll be referring to this for my install. Thanks *edit* Is your car tuned as well?
I had to get it realigned but camber was spot on. Toe wasn’t neither was caster. I also did a full springs install at the same time so probably didn’t help. Technically you should always get an alignment after dropping the subframe but subframe alone should affect camber more than other things.
I'm hearing the performance gains aren't really worth it even tuned. I've decided to skip the DP and just get a Catback on mine. We'll see how long that lasts... I'm in a manual and on the Full Torque APR Stage 1 93 tune. To go stage 2 they only recommend doing a CAI, and Intercooler... obviously I'd also have to do my stock clutch at that point too. I'm curious how long my stock clutch will last on the current tune.
14:01 that is the impeller wheel not the compressor wheel, otherwise informative and helpful video. Also another point, you should always remove an oxygen sensor from the harness connector, twisting it up like that is not good for the wire strands.
Yeah I mixed that up on the compressor wheel. O2 sensor was disconnected, once you get hands on these new o2 sensors you’ll realize the wires are tricky. Regardless I don’t use my o2 so dosent really matter 😅
Thank you now i know how to do my downpipe.... cool! sounds great too

Great vid 👍🏽
Thanks Conrad, appreciate it
This video came in super clutch, thank you a ton!

Great vid tho. End result is still a well done job.👍

Do you have the specifications for the bolts you need to replace?

Thank you for thes videos
Would this downpipe fit a mk8 gti clubsport?
@@sammartin5390 trackslag does make one that would work for that application, check out their website
Doing my mk7 first but after seeing this maybe I'll do my mk8 first.
Does your car through a code now? Great video
Will deleting those 2 secondary cats cause a CEL? I have and s3 8y and was wondering if this is a good idea to add more sound

@@CameronHere i have a CTS turbo Evo downpipe on my 8Y S3 2022.. and it sound exactly like this
Did you have any issues with your alignment once everything was reassembled?

How long did it take total time?
@@jerryel1nico probably 4.5 hours of real work but I did it over a weekend
Do you know all Bolt torgue specs ?
They’re all the same as the mk7
I noticed you still have your engine cover, as do i on VW golf R 2024, do you know if VW finally fixed the issue?
Mine didn’t come on the car they had to warranty it
I think they did. Mine (2024 EU) also has the engine cover :)
mine came with an engine cover also. I think they fixed it for the 2024's
Yes, they have a warranty campaign for the earlier R models. They designed a new cover. It's hard back plastic with insulation underneath
How big is the pipe 3“-4“?
4". Big boy pipe.
r those stock taillights?
They’re OEM tails but not stock
That is loud!
Yeah, it’s a bit overwhelming tbh. I’m currently investigating a s3 resonator retrofit
How it sounds while driving?
@@Mohamed-ng7gwnot bad cruising on the highway but it’s loud accelerating. I’ll post some clips soon
