HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 12 дек 2019
- In this DIY video we are installing an upgraded downpipe on a 2019 MK7.5 Golf R. This downpipe upgrade is part of a full stage 2 build including a charge cooler, turbo inlet pipe, and Stage 2 software. Installing an upgraded downpipe on a turbocharged car will allow better flowing exhaust gas, and change the sound of the exhaust. This high performance downpipe also includes a high flow catalytic converter and is a vital part of the stage 2 MK7.5 Golf R build. Stay tuned for the rest of the stage 2 Golf R build! #humblemechanic #golfR

Dude your filming of these projects is next lvl.
🙏 thank you
If IKEA instructions were this clear I'd buy more stuff. Excellent 👍 Charles 😎😎
HAHA TRUTH!
This is by far the best downpipe removal video I've ever seen. Thanks for taking the time to do this!
Probably much easier on the gti or gli. Dont gotta remove the driveshaft lol
I've watched this video like 10 times ahead of installing a downpipe on my a3. First time doing any exhaust work and for sure this helped, done in 4 hours on jackstands. Universal joints and extensions were the absolute hero of this install though.
Which downpipe did you end up installing?
@@ad70z54 CTS
Did you put both the front and back up on stands
Love the honest and detailed videos. Keep up the good work!
Love the amount of detail you go through when doing this stuff! Thanks Charles love watching even though all my Vdubs are older still always enjoy watching.
AWESOME!
Wow Charles you’ve changed so much on your R in such a short period of time. Can’t wait to see a video on how it compares to your R32 when your finished
I’m gonna be replacing the stock to an IE DP, I just got it in today. And let me tell you. This video is gonna be watched at least another 4 times to make sure I get it right!! Thank you HM!!!
My man! Just completed my IE downpipe install on my 2016R.. would have been lost without this video! Thank you! And yes people don't be stubborn, remove the prop shaft.. I tried to be stubborn lol
Yeeeeeeees downpipe sounds!
Extremely helpful and in depth video! Doing my downpipe today and this video will help tremendously! Thank you
The noise enhancement alone makes all that worth the effort
With only a bent heat shield and the flexpipe screen breaking, i got my downpipe out on my 15 s3 with 19” clearance from the sideskirt. Great video.
I like the added feature of the timer on the lower left-hand corner of your recording screen. It helps us understand how much time actually does lapse while you do your installations and stuff. Of course it takes most of us two or three times longer than it takes you to do stuff because you’re so good at it!
Lol thanks I thought that was a fun little add. Might have to do more of it. :)
Thanks so much for this! I was just about to install a milltek one. And now I just got myself a tutorial...
Excellent video as always!
i have wrenched on a few cars and do not have my golf R yet. i really appreciate your very high quality (important tips) DIY videos. Your the gold standard for me.
Great video planning to upgrade in the next 6 week when I have 5000 miles on the engine this video will be most helpful thank you so much.
Thanks for all the instructive vids. Reminds me of why I stopped working on cars
You sir are a legend. Very in depth and informative. Keep up the good work
Absolute legend man! We got a hero in the vw/audi game
It's every time similar. This guy is amazing !!!
Thx so much to you ! 👍
Dude hands down you’ve made the best MQB down pipe instal video. I appreciate all the torque figures you provide as well. I didn’t wanna struggle with the oem DP I bought a clamp and cut it, and when I heard you mention it I was like great minds think alike, it was so easy getting it out while it’s cut.
Subd to your channel. Thanks for the video.
Awesome. Thanks so much thank you 🙏
I really wish I had this video 6 months ago. Best downpipe video tutorial I’ve seen so far for the MK 7.5.
Thank you
Even though I don't have a similar car, I always love watching your guide videos. The camera angles you get are really effective, clear, and well illuminated. It must take you ages to get anything done having to setup the camera and lights all the time. Thanks for the quality content Charles!
Thank you so much
Im guessing editing takes as much time as installing parts... But he gets to be immortal on the Internet & some side money
Nice BendPack scissor lift and of course great information and walkthrough provided.
finally! Stage 2 !
Brilliant camera work👌
How have I never seen this channel before? This is freaking awesome!
THANK YOU!!!
Just ordered my integrated engineering downpipe to go with my Borla catback for my 18 A3 and I am super stoked !
Sweet
thank you. very detailed and informative.
Great stuff humble
This is pretty much part 2 of the 3 part stage 2 series!!!! After that, what should we modify on the Golf r?
HumbleMechanic bigger turbo?
@@ogpowell1 I like where you are at with that one!
got my Stage 2 tune done yesterday what a difference! so worth it!
Visual mods?
HumbleMechanic you may have mentioned it, is IE sending you the stage 2 software?
I love the quality and attention to detail with these videos, although I would never buy a Golf with my own real money, I'm watching these videos in the off chance a Golf gets gifted too me.
Thank you so much!!
I cannot wait to see your reaction on the tune. IE makes an amazing tune! I went from stage 2+ APR to stage 2 IE and the difference was insane!
KMFDM781 how so? More linear power band? Just curious. Thanks
Awesome
Best how to downpipe ive watched..thanks
Those are some tight quarters to be working in ... great video!
Yeah good quality is never cheap thanks and will check out that brand thanks
You have such great camera angles! For crap's sake, I can't imagine how much filming and editing you did! Amazing video!
Good video. Watching this makes me think of how clever modern factory assembly is when all this stuff is slapped together in a big swoop.
Yep. Man I love watching that kinda of thing!
While I am considering a 2019 R and interested in stage one & two it is nice to see it done .
Dude your camera work is really good, everything is so well explained. This video series is addicting.
Thanks so much
It turned out really good! I really liked the service performed and it was a great Upgrade in Golf! Parabéns...
Best MK7 channel on RUclips!
Thank you!!!
Nice work, great up-close and very clear videography with great lighting. A new standard for how-to video. Makes me want to own a Golf R (with downpipe) just for the DSG pops.
Thank you so much!!
Awesome thanks for the vid! 👍🏻
Great video!!
Pipe it down. Love your videos.
Charles in charge, living large 😀
Awesome work Charles...Love your video's.....Greetings from a New Zealand Mk 7 Golf R owner....Going full Stage 2 myself soon with IE mods
Hi Charles, thank you for this video. In my humble opinion It is the best one out in RUclips land. Very clear and precise I watched this multiple times and then install my downpipe today with no issues. Keep doing what you're doing. Cheers 🍻
Thank you so much!
Love the vids. Thanks for making the effort.
watching your tutorial videos are WAYYYYYYYYYYY better than watching Netflix...
Thank you so much.🙏🙏🙏🙏
Nice work
Great video!! Think I’ll let my local tuner garage do the down pipe.
I’m going to be installing my dp in two weeks! Cant wait
Awesome
Soo much R content!!
Cool 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 so cool you’re modding the banana hammock
I understand this is older; however, noticing how fast the DSG shifts were when you were accelerating was the reason you didn't feel any difference with the DP. Had you wound out the gears you would notice the difference. I'm certain you understand that. Sounds great! Really dig your channel...
AMAZING VIDEO 💯👍🏾
YASSS I WAS LOOOKIN FOWARD TO THIS!
Oh .... if only all cars that you good Mechanics worked on were that clean/easy to get the bolts unfastened. All silly comments aside, THANK YOU for your time and hugh effort making this/these vids. All the best and a Happy New Year.
I appreciate that. Thank you!
IE cold air intake looked awesome I’d buy it if I had another gti.
Great video
Magnificent
Great video 👍👍👍👌👌
Cheers lovely vid ....also great to see you wearing safety eyewear, very much neglected here in the UK through out most industries. Again good good vid thanks.
I can't believe VW actually uses v-band clamps from the factory. That's so convenient.
Edit: Honestly, that factory pipe with cat looks extremely well-made. Much better than older cars I've worked on.
I installed a downpipe on my 2019 GLI on jackstands in my garage. My arms have some cuts but it is possible. So many less steps due to FWD.
Great video! Love the content!
Yep easier on FWD still a challenge on jack stands
Great camera work. If that clock was running on my downpipe removal, it would have been in hours instead of minutes. Total PITA.
Haha having it on the lift helped big time
Damn, that's beefy! I installed the IE turbo back and intake on one of my MK VIs a couple years ago. It's been one of my favorite mods after the Diesel Geek short shifter that is. Installed those in all 3 GTIs, first thing! BTW, the full exhaust isn't terribly loud and drone is not nearly as bad as others I've heard.
Great camera angles charles.
Thank you. I took a little different approach on filming this one. Still a big video but fun
God damn that transmission shifts hilariously fast
Car seat gets me every time
I got that orange tray in PetrolBox last month. It's really useful. Still have my Humble Mechanic screwdriver from last year too. 🏁👍
Hell yes!!!! I’ve really grown to love the Grypmats. If you ever want to buy one they support the Humble Mechanic community with a 20% discount t
@@HumbleMechanic IE - Integrated Engineering is also a great company. I bought a 2.0 TFSI E888 long block from them last year. Sent them my cores and within 2 weeks my new engine arrived. Pretty stout for my 2010 A4 Avant. Really enjoying your comprehensive build videos. You're a good teacher. 👍
Love my de-cat on my scirocco more turbo noise and the right amount of exhaust noise 👍🏻
How about the smell fumes in the cabin.. you like that?
Ralph Roman I love the smell of petrol
@@jralphroman I never had any fumes in the cabin with a decat
Love your R!
I hope we are able to get some better aftermarket fueling. I would love to tune mine on E85 (if I get one) with the proper supporting modifications.
I had to stack some washers and use a longer bolt where the downpipe bracket bolts to that bracket/red rubber hanger. Mine was so far off. I removed and adjusted just to check but with the pipe on the turbo and bolted to the block it was still way off. It was really the only part of the install that I struggled with. Seemed like the two pins that go into the rubber hanger boots wanted to pop out otherwise.
I have the exact same car in blue, soundaktor off, same IE stage 1 ECU/TCU tunes, but I deleted the center resonator. It's makes the equivalent difference as turning the soundaktor back on, but it's "real". It's still very quiet in all modes, not to loud but just enough. My mk1 Golf with dual 45 Webers on an AFH 16V Polo motor makes plenty of noise.
Awesome video. I liked how you did the step by step removal. Pretty cool! So the next step is software tune? I'd like to see detailed step on when you do the stage 2 software. Like the other commentor said on bigger turbo. That's good idea also. Overall, great video stage 2 series!
It sounds a little angry. I like it
Your car is so clean under!
Thanks!!!
Good ol Charles
I don't own a Volkswagen, but I still enjoy these video's. It's ASMR for car people.
HAHA Thank you!
Btw great videos
This video makes me appreciate my Toyota
I have a Golf R and my mom has a Camry. I enjoy working on the Camry so much more!! 😂
More poweerrrrrr
yippeeeee,,,I am the lucky winner!! The 366k subscriber !!! lets see whats behind curtain number 1 Bob
Awesome!!!! Thank you.
Barbudo mecânico humilde!
I'm getting heebeegeebees from seeing all these hard to reach screws and 20 different kinds of hardware. You must have Saintly levels of patience fitting non-OE aftermarket parts in these tight spots. 😳😳
It’s not too bad really. :)
10:45 Victory!! 🙌
Seeing the factory downpipe, it's literally insane that APRs new turbo makes over 400WHP with it on 93
I have a 71 type 2 van you can work on for your show if you want. Obviously I would pay you.
Keep up the great videos!
this is way beyond my assortment of tools and knowledge
:) We can all level up
can’t wait for the coming vids on this... your channel is way underrated. maybe try an external mic for the gopro on the interior?
thanks!! I am am wearing a lav mic. It's way hard to get good audio in this car.
Love your videos and always watch @humblemechanic ! But now your making me want to buy a VW as it's so much easier to mod over my Kia with a 2.0L turbo SX Sportage AWD... fun to drive but I want more.
Come to the dark side. LOL
they need to make all vws available in sick colors like that
I totally agree
HumbleMechanic reminds me of the old corrados
Res delete for sure and keep the standard back box that way it’s a sleeper and you can surprise people
there was a dyno test by some other guys and they showed that on the audi s3 (sister to the vw golf r) they were able to gain about 25whp with just the downpipe swap from stock. NO remapping yet.
Since I didn’t dyno the car I can’t say about actually gains. But from a feel standpoint I don’t think we gained much of anything
That is a pain to do in the driveway. Was able to on my GLI and Bug turbo, but on the S3 I couldn't get it high enough and had to cut the pipe to get it out.
Next? TTS front calipers? RS3 front control arms? (more solid bushings)? 034 front camber plates and other goodies?
