What do you think of the downpipe so far? Right now I'm on the fence on pulling the trigger on getting it... Since my hi flow 3.5 catless cts down pipe blew its welding off (passenger side) and I think CTS is not selling catless dp for the mk7/7.5 platform anymore. I've checked the pricing of the trackslag dp and its £ 437.00 which it's roughly around $522 including shipping to the U.S. I find it suspiciously cheap since it's being shipped from the UK. However the 4 inch vs the cts 3.5 does bring my attention and on top of that I can't find any catless dp around $800 or below. My car also have the AWE track exhaust in installed. I'm hoping it'll fit with without a problem.
So far, I'm happy. The trackslag pipe is built very well- the schedule of pipe is thick, welds are strong, and fitment is perfect. The flex is probably worth 1/3 of what the pipe costs. I've inspected it and 0 leaks so far. The drone other MK7s have with downpipes isn't there because of how its piped. I have it with a stock catback, and fitment is perfect, but I put my old downpipe on a car with an AWE CATBACK and it fit identically. This is not even a competitor to the CTS, I am Canadian but CTS' products are just Chinese imports (aliexpress/ebay rebrands half the time). The pipe they use is inferior, welds are poorer, I've seen them break. Not fair to compare the two. I can't think of a reason not to go with the trackslag pipe. They are a bit cheaper than most, but their pricing is in line with most other catless options with shipping and import fees factored in, I'm surprised you're seeing the discrepancy. They don't market their products much and even their website is out of date- these are all things that help them maintain their margins. At the end of the day with the bigger companies you pay for the marketing, you pay to have items pre-imported and have in-country aftermarket support, etc. I believe this is how trackslag hasn't raised their prices. At the end of the day it's a bunch of exhaust pipe thats welded together- a downpipe like this is cheap and doesn't take a lot of R&D.
keen on buying a trackslag but I’m still on IS20 and probably wont be going to is38 for about a year or so. Saying that; i’d like to only need to buy the DP once and this will be the DP i’m after on is38 anyways
No, but I have a Stage 2 tune. If you have a stock tune or any tune which dosent modify readiness monitors there is a good chance you will get a cel with a catless pipe. You can always use spacers though.
@@hmsahm2455 Yeah the downpipe obviously isn't bigger than the output flange at the v band. With that said it does result in very different noise and ever so slightly different spool characteristics compared to my old 3" downpipe. I don't think it's a life changing upgrade if you already have a downpipe but it is a great choice if you're in the market. I wouldn't have upgraded if it weren't for the fact I had a buyer lined up for my old pipe.
Barelyhear it through the stock catback with the downpipe. I was hoping I would hear it a lot. But when I took the muffler off I could definitely hear it. I uploaded a few shorts of open downpipe revs.
@@yacluck8343 I definitely hear more than my old catted and resonated downpipe but wouldn't call the car loud. Exhaust note is somewhere between a MK8 and a Veloster N in terms of noise level (dosen't really sound like the hyandi - just talking in terms of decibels). I think its a good upgrade if you can flip your current downpipe. It is way better in terms of drone than any downpipe, drone is quieter with this than when i had two resonators and a catted pipe. If youre looking for sound you may benefit from a catback. If you're looking for performance, at the end of the day i dont think you really see a benefit with this pipe performance wise until you're pushing a is38 hybrid or larger..

what rachet or wrench did you use to get red of those 2 nuts at 3:50 i cant seem to fit any of mines in there
I used a cheap flex head ratcheting wrench but I’ve been able to get some 3/8 ratchets on with u joint sockets and/or extensions. I think it’s a 13mm.

Does the spacer prevent codes?
I took it out it was hard to get it into the car with the spacer and unitronics tune prevents codes.

no smoke came from my exhaust. Maybe water vapours and a bit more soot but no smoke
