First time owning one of these and I always thought that clicking in the beginning was of the start was bad but seeing it on yours as well I feel comfortable knowing it’s probably normal.
The sound in the first start is the turbo's turbine hitting the sides of the housing. For a brand new turbo it is normal on its first startup. I don't usually get any waste gate rattle or anything when I start up my car. It is common for some of these cars to develop waste gate rattle. I don't think you have anything to worry about but the loud kind of clicky sound as soon as I start up the car in this video is not a sound I usually hear.
I am about to install a garrett GT2260s. It’s supposed to be direct fit, and no additional hardware. Im glad that I’ve found this video because I am a fairly new mechanic, been doing it for a little bit over a year. Honestly this turbo install seems pretty straightforward and easy. I cant wait to get my new turbo in and my vehicle tuned.
I am just imagining you chomping on food voicing over the video 😂 heard it while you were pulling the intake 😂 the things you realize laying in the ER🫠
Great video dude, very informative and made it look alot less complicated with a very good camera angle also for easy viewing. I'm thinking of doing this to my MK7 PP GTI here in the UK. I was wondering what figures did you get on a dyno if you've done that yet?
Thought about doing this myself as well but I'm not mechanically inclined. I've done all stage 2 installs myself, including engine/transmission mounts, Fluidampr, front LCA's, turbo back exhaust, fmic, etc. Doing the turbo seemed a bit too involved, but you just gave me an ounce of confidence to consider doing the swap. Are you still using the stock clutch?
Nice video! Thanks for sharing your install. I see in a separate comment that you have the Sachs performance clutch.. any issues with it holding the increased power?
What mods are required for the car to be reliable after fitting this turbo ,, I’m contemplating if I should upgrade or not but just scared of things breaking
The engines are stout. Just get a reputable tune. Down pipe and intercooler are the only required mods. Some tuners require a certain spark plug, others say to use stock plugs. Most issues you have with these cars aren’t power related (water pump, coil pack, fuel pump)

Any update? If you needed any other hardware or additional parts?

I had the sachs clutch. I’m far from a mechanic but it wasn’t that bad. Literally only struggle was getting the oil return line off
oil lines are a painn but eveything else is straight forward

@@billynguyen710 worked great and new owner hasn’t complained

Unitronic do offer a 91oct stage 2+ file? I thought it was 93oct only
They do but you have to ask, and it took a few asks as their customer service likes to brush people off
