MK7 GTI IS38 Dyno comparison, Stage 2 vs IS38 with APR software

  • In this one we compare a MK7 GTI with APR Stage 2 software and supporting mods vs an IS38 Turbo upgrade. As always we did our best to keep each run consistent to the next. Runs were done a day apart, and the only thing changed was the IS38 and upgraded APR software.
***PLEASE NOTE THIS IS ON 91OCT AND CORRECTION FACTOR ON DYNO IS SET TO SAE
Once again we seen greater gains than what APR claims on their website.

Awesome video and comparison. It’s so frustrating to watch dyno videos and 99% of the time they will flash the chart up on the screen for about a half a second and it’s extremely blurry and out of focus or so far away it’s illegible. The whole reason for watching dyno videos is to see the chart clearly and understand exactly what it represents. Thank you and very nice work.

I fuckin love these dyno vids, you do a great job man. I also totally love APR even tho they get a lot of hate lately for some reason? I'm mk6 k04 APR high tq so a little different, but I've driven several manufacturers' tunes on a similar setup, and APR's drivability is straight up smoother than stock most of the time.. even if they're a touch down on raw power from other tuners.
I was on REVO for Stg 2 and it would just torque spike and blow the wheels off for ANY reason haha, which was kinda fun if I wanted to hop the front end like a pogo stick. But APR does a great job of managing boost in 1st and 2 so it ends up feeling faster cause it just hooks up. There's a lot of value in that.

    • @COMotorsports

Do you happen to know more about the 2015 Audi TT 8s EA888 engine? I bought the car this week and it came with an ABT stage 1 tune, 310whp 324tq and 98 fuel europe. It is way faster than a stage 1 mk7 GTI or stock R's. Whats the difference of the engine on the TT and the MK7? Also, i really want to go IS38. (AFAIK i know it has the IS20, and the ABT dyno graph is on their website)

    • @COMotorsports

The only way is making that power is if it had a K04 upgrade, or a TTS. The is20 and is38 turbos are for a different engine and would not fit your MK2 TT.

Read into the data... you're mistaken. Please dyno your IS38 GTI with 91oct and show me the SAE corrected numbers. You will see similar results. I have dynoed a handful of 7R's on this dyno in FWD with near identical results. We give all results in SAE corrected to keep the dyno numbers comparable. I could have shown you the higher numbers by simply using a different correction factor. But if you want to compare your car to this... put 91oct in it and get results in SAE Correction factor.
