  • We dyno this immaculate MK7.5 GTI with EQT Stage 2 Software using the COBB Accessport. But first, we dyno it with stock software to compare against EQT's Stage 2 on 91oct. Needless to say the gains are huge and there's no doubt that this car will be a new animal.

    My MK7 GTI with the EQT stage 1 93 tune made 295hp and 368lb at the wheels with only an mst turbo inlet, drop in afe air filter and ngk ruthenium plugs gapped at 0.024. Boost peaked at 27.6 psi.

      They use 91 octane so they can’t go as aggressive on the timing as you can

      @@necc74challenger At 6k rpm boost was at 19.2psi and timing at 4. Peak boost of 27.6psi was at 3552rpm.

      No timing pull or knock. There's approximately 8-10% drivetrain loss on gti's, so at crank it would be somewhere around 325hp and 385lb. @@necc74challenger

    7.5 R built motor EQT here for the win. I would love to see you guys do a fully built 7.5R. I guess the 1/4 mile record for for Gen 3 EA888 MQB was just broke again. Getting into the low 9's. Lets see an 8.

    Oem coil packs do the job, my Apr coil packs gave me issues after a bit when I first had my GTi years ago.

    I see far more GTIs in my area. There is still a healthy amount of Rs though. What I would like to see is an R with one of the fancy colors they were offering back in 2019 or whichever year that was.

    Great video as usual, you said it was the most HP st2 GTI you've dynoed, have you guys been seeing much better numbers because the ethanol in some of our 91 now? I've been seeing about 8% from my tester (wish I had a sensor but unitronic is still 2 weeks out for the past 2yrs), and the RS3 is definitely loving the Uni 91 map now, I no longer have to blend e98 on every tank.

      Typically Esso and Wilson's 91 is treating e10-11. I haven't no idea what fuel is in this car. Side note to answer your question, for done tunes it engines it will help for sure, the ones that don't see any knock issues it will make no difference.

    Well done and good to see some GTI from gen VII. You guys cover a lot so respect to you. I am older and more old school so dont know much about Cobb with Web but I always remember them for WRX cpu tunes. Is this just an upload to cpu via OBD and it fines optimal setup of fuel and timing during pulls and saves that setup?

      Yeah these are tunes created by a Cobb pro tuner that just use the Cobb AP to flash the file. As a Cobb pro tuner you can pay for the editing software to create tunes like this. We're actually a Cobb pro tuner as well but we don't have enough customer to justify the expense of their subscription/license fees to do custom files like this. So we just use what others have proven to work.

    When you stop and think about it, 350 foot pounds of torque at the wheel in a small car like that is a lot. When you buy a tune from EQT, do they give you the software, or software and the Cobb flash tool? Do you have any ability to tweak timing or anything just in case you're seeing knock or something?

      No tweaking. You require a Cobb AP in order to flash the EQT file. So you either have/or buy one, or you can get both from EQT.

    I have the Eqt stage 2 tune with just aftermarket air filter and catless downpipe and it throws a cel catless below threshold, a few years ago eqt disabled the cel for that I think, is there anyway to to get rid of that code, and does Canada have this problem.

    For the mk7.5 gti do you still recommend 508/509 0w20 for tuned and tracked or switch to 5w40 oil? EQT says switch to 5w40 i just didnt know your thoughts

      The only thing changed between the mk7 and 7.5 in regards to oil is the oil pump, and it was a very minor revision. You can use 5w30/5w40 (vw spec ofcourse) in the 7.5’s as well as 0w20, but you cannot use 0w20 in the MK7’s. Only reason they switched to 0w20 is for emission reasons but if you want to protect your engine (especially if it’s beaten on or tuned) I’d highly recommend 5w40. I’ve been running that in my EQT Stage 1 ‘19 for almost 15k miles with 0 issues

      Most of the mainstream software providers are trying to abide by the rules, so yes an upgraded downpipe generally will give you a CEL.

    I have a mk7.5 GTI and im running the stage to eqt tune and i noticed my turbo seals blew shorty after i flashed the tune, i got all the right bolt ons to go stage 2 (intake, exhaust, downpipe, intercooler, etc) But cant help but wonder was it because of the tune? I feel like i did everything right

    i know a guy with a mk7 gti also stage 2 but with a full exhaust and a remap it does around 390 hp

      Wheel HP and crank HP are different. This is measured at the wheels and stock GTI turbo is not making that power, not is a golr r turbo on this fuel.

    I,ve been debating on putting a catless DP, I’ve seen some videos at the dyno that show putting the catless DP actually doesnt make any gains and in some cases it looses power, can you tell or give your advise?

      Pretty sure there are some stage 1 mk7.5's making more with no bolt ons on 91.

      Upgraded intercooler on these always make more power.

      Cooler intake temps, consistently less/no heat soak with lots of throttle use.

      @@kawzx777 With the GTI, there is an option for front-mount in the aftermarket, but replacing the stock location intercooler with a much higher capacity unit is more functional.
