@@COMotorsports Just about to flash the EQT Stage 1 E30 tune, but will be on the COBB OTS Stage 1 91 Flex Fuel tune until EQT comes out with their own FF tunes, so I'll be running a minimum of E30. This is my daily driver, so I figured a Vortex Standard might be the more prudent choice, with the quicker spool for mostly city driving, but the headroom of the XL makes it so enticing.
@corymiller8564 you'll want more easily. An IS38 definitely wakes the car up a bit, but the amount of work and money it takes to make another ~30WHP vs something like a vortex where you can make 400whp without ethanol. Another good option is actually that garret turbo from IE. Do their flex tune and keep it simple.
Interesting video, I'm currently weighing option of Standard or XL for my Golf R, I run 11.9 currently on EQT stage 2 93 tune (Intake/downpipe/plugs and rear sway are the only add ons I have currently) I'll likely go full MPI (JDY) with flex fuel kit and tune and the new blaze intake fuel pump, etc..etc. It's a daily driver and we have nice twisty roads here to cruise on, so having quicker boost initially sounds nice, but having the XL for higher whp sounds nice too when I do highway pulls or take it to the strip.
If you don't plan on running E ever, than there's no reason for the XL. The STD and XL make similar power on pump gas. We have video's of both on our channel so you can compare.

Hard to say, depends on the turbo, exhaust and a few other things. Where this is the smaller exhaust housing it may gain a little but I doubt it would be much on the STD combo.
Keep us posted on the results. I'm running same setup except I'm running a DBV2 V1 turbo. Best time on 94 pump was 11.2@125mph. Before I had the MPI 1300CC and the LPFP only running the HPFP on 94 octane plus Boostane I ran 10.9@127mph.
If you're referring to 94 (ron), it would be comparable to our 91oct here in North America. So you will see similar numbers despite having MPI and LPFP. So expect around 440whp. If you're referring to actual 94oct fuel then you will see a bit better simply due to the fuel, not the fuel setup.
DON'T assume E10 from the pumps, all petrol suppliers will tell you "up to E10". So, test your local fuel frequently....year round I have seen from a low of 31% to a high of 11.3% for content. ALWAYS test your e85 pump fuel, every fill up.
@@MeltingRubberZ28 Exactly.. if this was on a true linked AWD dyno, the front wheels would be the only wheels providing power to the ground anyways so it's not really much difference. The only difference would be the weight of the drums. But this is a 3000lb drum so it would end up being very similar. Companies like Iroz have stopped dynoing their cars in AWD as they've proven the difference is negligible and not worth the extra effort hooking up the rear hubs.
Hey guys, long time fan. I just picked up the XL for my GTI. I'm only going to be running the HPFP with 93 oct. I have heard many say that's not enough fueling. They both have same lpfp. I strongly suggest you get a lpfp for your golf r you will be able to push the turbo further , especially on 93 octane you should be at 460 with ease
All comes down to what fuel you plan on running. If you're limited to 91oct for example, there really isn't a need for anything more in regards to fueling other than HPFP. However if you want to take advantage of the turbo or use any decent amount of E you will need LPFP and MPI.

What can you guys do for those that have access to 93 oct? Like if i bring my car over to you from the US where we have 93, can you tune it with EQT for 91 and 93 tunes? Would brining some 93oct fuel be needed?
I’m genuinely surprised at how few “premade” water/methanol kits there are for mk7 VAGs. Considering how much work it took to get me Abarth dialed in on meth, mostly fiddling with the kit, I sort of expected it being a mostly unsupported platform. That said, water/meth is very likely the reason why my engine is in one piece today.
Think about it this way... A Golf R only puts power to the rear wheels when the front wheels are spinning at a different rate compared to the rear. So in order to keep the ABS system happy on an AWD dyno the dyno needs to be linked so the front and rear wheels are spinning at the same rate, just like they would be on the road. What does that mean... it means the rears are not being powered. So all the power is going to the front even on an AWD dyno. So the only difference on these vehicles would be the weight of the rear drum that it's spinning... that's it. So the difference is very negligible.
