SURPRISING Names Emerge in WVU Football Coaching Search
This is probably the worst opinion I've heard on a ACC Big 12 merger. Where does he get the idea the SEC wants to play B10 in non conference? It's proven they'd rather beat FCS or MAC teams instead. His Notre Dame take was weird. These guys are dumb.
The DELUSIONS in the CHAT is STILL STRONG. I cannot wait until JUNE and JULY to read your CHAT. Going to be GOLD.
Supposedly Memphis and Tulane spurned the Pac because they've been told by ESPN they are getting ACC invites. I like the merger solution better though.
COUZ the ACC has been SAFE the WHOLE TIME. What have I been TELLING YOU for TWO YEARS? 1... every year the EXIT Fees go down... no reason to renegotiate 2... Notre Dame is going to play OTHER ACC schools more too 3... The NEW Revenue differences thing MUST come from NEW MONEY that ESPN pays the ACC... they cannot pay anyone LESS than a Full Share (except for the Expansion Agreements) Next Moves... JUNE. But 1st we finish the Look-In. ACC Revenue has INCREASED TWICE already this year and the Look-In will add a 3rd Increase. Down the Road... EXPANSION and a 4th Revenue Increase for the ACC. The current number is UP by $28 Million per school. More than 1/2 way there. That is $28 Million BEFORE this Look-In gets factored in AND BEFORE Expansion is discussed. Whatever SOURCES you have that aren't saying something like what I am saying.... are NOT sources on where the ACC is. They may know what certain schools ae thinking but not what the ACC and ESPN are going to DO.
LIKE I TOLD YOU, Notre Dame will move from 5 ACC Games to 6 ACC games. Notre Dame will have to drop SOMEONE that is NOT in the ACC. PURDUE is a CRAP game. It does not HELP the SOS or SOR. Notre Dame needs a better schedule. 6 games means 3 games in NBC and 3 games on ABC/ESPN. STOP ASSUMING things will GET WORSE for the ACC. That is where everything goes away from REALITY. ACC was NEVER in Trouble. That was all BS from IGNORANT PEOPLE that knew NOTHING TRUE. ACC was THRIVING the whole time because THIS was always coming. So was the $28 Million Increase... although I expected it to be only $26 Million $16 Million of the Increase was BUILT IN on the ESPN TV Contract. The other $12 Million was BUILT IN to the EXPANSION. Wait until JUNE before you get too tied to anything on the ACC. The next HUGE SHOE to drop is when you see that $28 Million with your own eyes. It's there.
COUZ the ACC has been SAFE the WHOLE TIME.
I'm a Miami fan. Mark Richt did this. His son was our QB coach. Name one decent QB we've had that didn't come from the transfer portal. I like Rich Rod, but this was a bad idea unless his kids have already made a name for themselves. (Which they may have. I don't know who they are.)
No, but I would like to see a scheduling alliance
My second cousin - he showed me how to be a real man as a child and I will never forget the knowledge and lessons he gave me. Legend 👏 Aloha
No he didn’t- it’s a mole hilll
On paper, did Rhett benefit favorably over more experienced candidates. Probably, particularly fans remember Pat White is still out there. In reality, this guy’s been trained for this job at the breakfast table for at least a decade now. By the dude whose offense he would be helping implement. I don’t think QB play is going to be the kryptonite of this team.
The answer to the question: Did eSECpn just save the ACC? HELL NO! The best thing that could have happened for the ACC would be for eSECpn to decline the option. That would have freed the ACC up to get a media rights deal with a competent company for a fair price. This is why I correctly told you over and over and over that eSECpn was ALWAYS going to continue the deal. I mean even eSECpn isn't that stupid.
Agreed
Let’s just say, all Big 12 and ACC programs get PE. I highly doubt they will be able to catch up to the SEC and Big 10 overall. If they can, it will take some crazy things to happen. Maybe the bigger programs do catch up, and join the SEC and Big 10, all that will happen is, they will then be overshadowed in their own conference. Not only that, ESPN will do everything to take those programs down, and rig games. The only way, I see a way out of this mess, and an overall better future is, a Big 12 and ACC merger. Where it becomes a super conference between all avenues. Even if things get ‘better’, there’s no way we can catch up. Even with PE, we will run out of steam. With everything going on, the merge is becoming more and more inevitable.
I don’t believe ESPN will rig games, but otherwise a great comment. As for the ACC/Big 12 merger conversation, I did a show on it just a few days ago.
@ Thank you, I don’t hope they rig games, I’m not wishing for that at all. Though we all know what ESPN is capable of, especially if the money and benefits are there to do so. Disney owns ESPN and ESPN+, which could open up some more problems. We have lost quite a few games due to some calls, that shouldn’t have been made, both in the past and present games. Along with other things that go wrong in games (injuries, legit fouls, other things before games, sickness, etc) it could destroy any program. Like the Colorado basketball game, we almost lost because of those calls. To give a football example, our fate was sealed on the last call during the coffee bowl. We had a chance to win that game, but I don’t think they wanted that to happen (it might have been a good thing we lost that game though, maybe it gave all of us both fans and the program, a reinvigorated double down spirt across all sports, to win a conference championship and national championship). ESPN commentators mainly talk down on us, and make who they want to win very clear, (ESPN pregame show in 2012, when we went against Clemson in the Orange Bowl, even after the game they were still trashing us I think), when it shouldn’t be biased either way. Like I said, I hope I’m wrong about the rigging, but anything can happen in the SEC and Big 10 response, to the Big 12 and ACC merger.
ESPN allegedly wants UNC in the SEC. If that's true, they'll make it happen since they sign the checks. Also, supposedly the Board of Regents in North Carolina would make UNC and NC State a package deal. So there's that as well. Some speculate that UNC will push for Virginia to come as well, but who knows.
COUZ!
I keep hearing "Florida State, Clemson, Miami" (both ND schedules and revenue sharing). Anytime there are "have's" there are "have nots". This deal is bad news for anyone other than those 3 (perhaps plus UNC). If you're Duke, Va Tech, Pitt, Louisville... start making phone calls right now.
I totally agree. It’s the middle tier of the ACC that should be mad.
if he wins 9-11 games a season then I don't care if he hires his dog.
💯
Win games the right way
I like the idea a lot. I would actually go bigger and bring in some more schools. After adding a few more schools the playoffs can break away from the remaining G5 and you can bring back some college football nostalgia in the process. Here’s how I would do it: PAC Pod Stanford Cal ASU Arizona Oregon State Washington State WAC Pod Utah BYU Boise State UNLV San Diego State Fresno State BIG 8 Pod Iowa State Oklahoma State Kansas Kansas State Colorado Colorado State Southwest Conference Pod Texas Tech TCU SMU Baylor Houston Rice BIG East Pod UCONN Syracuse Boston College PITT West Virginia Virginia Tech Atlantic Coast Pod Virginia UNC NC State Duke Wake Forest East Carolina Metro Pod Cincy Louisville Ga Tech Miami Tulane Memphis America Pod Army Navy Air Force UCF USF UTSA
Not a bad thought.
I don’t blame you WVU fans for not caring but if this blows up in your face it shows that nepotism and expecting your descendants to follow in your footsteps doesn’t really work. Theirs a reason why Roman Emperors didn’t have their son or descendants usually succeed them and when that happened think about Commondus. Bill’s son is a rare case and but still he isn’t as good of a coach as they say. Not saying his kids aren’t good people but they wouldn’t be in a position close to where they are without their daddy. A lot of us don’t have daddy’s like that
It’s blatant nepotism, Brett seems like very intelligent dude but he would not be in the position he is without that last name on his back but at the same time you really expect millionaires to play by the rules.
Worst thing Louisville has ever did was joining the ACC, I wish certain B12 schools had not blocked their entry.
I don't see it as an issue.
No matter what the rest of the ACC teams are stuck until at least 2031. The Members in the ACC , I assume, still have to vote on this. Maybe the idea of an ACC/Big 12 merger might be the best way to go. I would think most all of the ACC teams would merge with the Big 12 Conference if it meant more money to compete against the Big 10 and the SEC.
ACC does not want a Merger. It wants 3 to 7 Big 12 Teams MAX. Less if UConn ends up in the mix. And ACC can get WHOEVER it wants from the Big 12... this JUNE you will FIND OUT what I told everybody more than 2 years ago. Everybody just found out that ESPN would definitely NOT Give Up on the ACC Contract... I knew that 2 years ago too. In JUNE you are going to find out the ACC has seen its REVENUE INCREASE TWICE in the last year... and a 3rd Increase COULD be on the way. 1st Increase- ACC got a $16 Million Increase per school right after Revenue was posted from last year. 2nd INcrease- ACC Network has made an extra $12+ Million per school due to EXPANSION since last year. 3rd Increase- The LOOK-IN with ESPN is not over.
No matter what the rest of the ACC teams are stuck until at least 2031. The Members in the ACC , I assume, still have to vote on this. Maybe the idea of an ACC/Big 12 merger might be the best way to go.
ACC has 0 interest of merging with the XII. TBT the only programs the ACC should consider are WVU, Texas Tech, Kansas, and the 4 former Pac schools. I could see them adding 3 of those to reach 20 teams.
Winning cures all, but that's the hard part. Will he fire his son and/or daughter if they underperform? I think you all know the answer to that.
1.last thing. In this agreement, ACC wants the lawsuits dropped, but Clemson & FLst want in return for not suing, they want(in a but shell) the penalty's for leaving early dropped to a lower amount{yr2030 if I remember right} Thus why I said its a bandaid, & thats if the agreement(s) actually pan out
I agree with you.
I think if Clemson, Flst, UNC & probably UVA leave the ACC, then yes, I think the b12 will pick up a couple to a few teams for once those teams leave...a newly reformed ACC won't be able to get the $ the current B12 will get, muchless the $$ the B12 will get if it adds certain ACC leftovers
It a bandaid for sure. In 4-5 yrs FLst, Clemson, UNC & (???) will announce where their next landing spots will be.
A wild day, 1st the Acc news, then the Big 10 having bids on PE. It seems that no matter what the Big 12 & Acc do the Big 10 & Sec will counter. Meanwhile ND continues to use the Acc like a car wash.
Yep
Miami, Florida State and Clemson will always be given helmet sticker bias. I think WV is looked at as a "fun" team like Boise. Problem is Boise is still fun and we arent now.
BTW, Allen got that first down by an inch. Hey NFL, get freakin chips in the ball and GPS! Get it right! Sorry, one of us has to beat the Chiefs, cant stand em'!
Couz, this is way off topic, but, would you call me crazy, as a from the beginning Ravens fan, if I would trade Lamar to the Commanders for Jayden Daniels? That kid is cool and collected, Lamar is STILL piecing together how to win playoff games! I think I'd do it. Is that crazy talk?!
Not crazy at all.
My only question would be does Brett have expertise is teaching quarterbacks how to be better quarterbacks? These other talents he has are wonderful be don't make quarterbacks better.
They just ensured its death…gone by 2036 or sooner
As long as we play Pitt every season i can live without playing VT , BC , CUSE . As nice as playing our old rivals again , i won't lose any sleep.
Honestly I don’t give a shit. I don’t know why people spend so much effort on these things. Is it nepitism, of course, will this make the program more or less successful? Absolutely not. If this was a politician or something like that it would be an issue but this is just kinda par for the course for a lot of coaches and colleges as a whole.
Well said and love the new profile pic.
@ lol yea I figured it was time to change it.
Sounds like WVU will not have more regional conference help from B12 being able to add ACC schools had ESPN had not opted to continue the ACC media deal. Does the B12 just sit right? Or do they look at boosting BB and try to add UConn, Memphis?
It sure looks that way.
@@CouzsCornerSportsamended the post to add another question
I wonder if ESPN factored some top ACC brands leaving in extending their media deal? I get the feeling that FSU/Clemson and the ACC will reach an agreement (to end the lawsuits) to leave in 2031 with just an exit fee and not a huge GOR fee. ACC needs some certainty in order to tap PE money.
I think the B12 getting name coaches like Rich Rod, Deion etc helps the conference get attention. Maybe when there are openings, Brett Yormark could help get quality, attention getting head coach candidates. What if Arizona job opens and Rob Gronkowski joins the AZ coaching staff? Do you think AZ would get more eyeballs?
Do you think the ACC would let Clemson & FSU leave with a lower exit fee so that there will be less schools that may get together to dissolve the conference (have less that 10 votes)?
Is any of them making 1.1 million to sit on the bench?😊
In every part of business people hire family. Who cares ? If he doesn't work out they all go too. Give them a chance.
I think he is the head coach let the man build his staff however he wants to. That is his job. If I knew how to build a coaching staff I would be the head coach at wvu right now making millions.
Where is Texas tech.
Mountain Pod
The problem with giving them the 4 auto bids is the Big 10 & SEC Greed. They get their 4 bids what to stop them from taking spots from other conferences in the future or during the current format with a few at large bids that remain. With an expanded playoff, does anyone really think they will not try to get 5 or 6 teams from their conferences in and screw over other conferences that deserve an additional team in or possibly take the spot away from Notre Dame in the future if they are on the bubble. The fact is they are slowly maneuvering their way towards squeezing everyone else out & just creating a playoff system for themselves. Simply put, they are ironing out the wrinkles right now or in the Beta testing phase & all of the other schools are the guinea pigs until they get it right. 🤔😯😫😫😫
If he wins, I don’t give a rip if he hires my dog.
Agreed
I don't understand or share the accusations being brought against Rich Rod. He wouldn't hire someone that couldn't do the job and do it well. If you think any different he will get on them to get them right.
How about this? Because THIS is actually happening. West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Boston College - every year Miami, Louisville, Georgia Tech, NC State, Wake Forest - every year SMU, TCU, Oklahoma St, Kansas St, Iowa St - every year Stanford, Cal, Arizona St, Utah, Colorado - every year That is 20 schools. Still going to have a scheduling agreement with Notre Dame and have them in every other Sport. That is 21 schools. Say GOOD BYE to Houston, Cincinnati, BYU, UCF, Baylor, Tech... they can go to the PAC with Memphis, Tulane, USF and UConn. North Carolina, Duke, Virginia, Clemson, FloriDUH State and Kansas, Arizona the SEC and B1G are going to snap them up.
It is happening? That would be great but I’m not getting my hopes up.
@@CouzsCornerSports I'm not going to promise those 20 exactly. But something much like that. Play the 4 other teams in your "Pod" every year. ROTATE to play all 5 teams in each other Pod in a year for 9 games. Basically a 2 Division Set up... But you rotate the pod that is in your Division. Play everybody not in your Pod 2 times every 6 years.
KNUTSKUZZ is SO HALFWITTED. He gets so close to being SMART. But he only gets HALFWAY there. He says ESPN cannot afford to LOSE ALL THIS... but he doesn't seem to get that ESPN has already figured this out more than a DECADE AGO. And ESPN has already set the ACC UP to be the 3rd Member of the POWER THREE by raiding the Big 12 very soon. And not for everybody. Just for the TOP of the Big 12. And I wouldn't be at all surprised to see ESPN make a deal with the PAC that will take the MIDDLE out of the Big 12. KNUTSKUZZ has obviously NEVER BEEN to North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, New York, Massachusetts if he thinks those are TRUCK STOP Country.
Why be so disrespectful?
@@CouzsCornerSports Just responding to KnutSkizz in the way he treats everybody that doesn't kowtow to everything he says. BTW... did you hear the News? Just like I have said since over a year ago. ESPN is NOT Opting Out. ACC stronger that ever but I knew the whole time. Everything I tell people is TRUE
THIS MERGER IS NOT HAPPENING... BUT... something BETTER that is SIMILAR IS HAPPENING. And it involves WVU unless your Admins are totally Stupid. ACC... is in much better Financial Shape than people know. It always has been. It is already making 160% more $$$ than the Big 12 and that is about to RISE. How? Well... as I have TRIED to EXPLAIN many times the ACC has been BUILDING the ACC Network for almost a DECADE and that COSTS MONEY. READ AND LEARN Basic Economic Fundamentals - REVENUE is what you EARN SUBTRACTED by what you SPEND. So when Big 12 fans pound their chest about how their 9 Game TV Contract makes as much REVENUE as the ACC 8 Game TV Contract they forget something. That thing is the ACC REVENUE was being depleted by $16 Million per School to BUILD the ACC Network. So the ACC schools have been EARNING $16 Million MORE the whole time but it was not REVENUE... not yet... because they were BUILDING their FUTURE. Then last year came and went' And Last Year everyone just looked at the REVENUE and thought WOW Big 12 = ACC in Revenue. But while TRUE... it was NOT TRUE at the same time. Then last year the ACC made their LAST PAYMENTS on the Build of the ACC Network... so that EXPENSE is GONE... and that INCOME is NOW REVENUE. So this June... based on what I just told you... the ACC REVENUE will be UP by $16 Million per school. Big 12 will still be at $40 Million. ACC will be at $56 Million. BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE. The ACC Network makes $$$ and it makes money Per Subscriber. And it makes MORE $$$ from a Subscriber that is in a State that the ACC is IN. A Subscriber to the ACC Network in Minnesota is worth $0.25.. but a Subscriber in Virginia is worth $1. (Actually a little more $.) Well the ACC just got into CALIFORNIA and TEXAS... the 2 Biggest States... so all of those Subscribers are now worth 4X as much $$$ and their are MORE of them than before. BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE. Subscribers to the SEC Network and B!G Network are AUTOMATICALLY Subscribers to the ACC Network. So since last year.... as for SUBSCRIBERS the ACC picked up not just SMU... but it added Texas and Oklahoma and gets 4X what it used to get from A&M fans, The ACC didn't just pick up Stanford and CAL... it added the fans of UCLA and USC at the 4X rate. And got Oregon and Washington fans too. And those 2 HUGE STATES And those 10 Combined Fanbases have added up to more than $12 Million per ACC school. So this June... based on what I just told you... the ACC REVENUE will be UP by $12 Million per school. Big 12 will still be at $40 Million. ACC will be at $56 Million just from Paying Off ACC Network but it will make $68 Million. BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE. As you may know the ACC has a Look-In during February... and it is going to get a PAY RAISE from ESPN. ACC is going to get a better TV Package from ESPN for better exposure. ACC is going to get additional TV Partners that are going to pay to Air ACC games other than ESPN. And SOON... the ACC is going to EXPAND AGAIN to add MORE of the Best Possible Brands and STATES. Well... where would the ACC go to get the MOST $$$ and Best Brands. You think about that. If it can get a School in a LARGE State... maybe a State it SHARES wilt another Large Fanbase that Subscribes to the SECN or B1GN. HMMM. Who could that be? Could you possibly make MORE $$$ off of a Fanbase & State than getting Ohio State? How do you do that? CINCINNATI is in OHIO. Oklahoma... Oklahoma State. Louisiana... LSU... Tulane. Tennessee... Memphis. Alabama... Auburn... UAB. Oregon... Oregon St. Washington... Washington St. NOT saying all of those schools are even a PRIORITY. But... All of those schools BRING THE ACC a NEW STATE... and NEW FANBASES that SUBSCRIBE to the ACC Network. Even if they only watch the SECN or B1GN... the ACC gets the $$$. And as for West Virginia... obviously that is also a New State and a Large Fanbase... but not such a Large State. BUT there is the WVU DIASPORA... which is a fancy way of saying WVU Fans MOVE OUT of West Virginia and live in OTHER STATES. And where do WVU Move to? Ohio, Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland, Pennsylvania. So WVU punches above the weight of their State... especially if the ACC get Cincinnati because except for Maryland the ACC is IN all of those States. So WVU makes Louisville, Piit, Virginia Tech, NC State & Cincinnati all more Valuable in their Home States. Just like Ohio St, Kentucky, Penn State and even if they LEFT Virgina and North Carolina would ALL PAY the ACCN by subscribing to the SECN or B1GN. So... you can speculate however you like. But if you think the ACC is NOT POWER THREE you know NOTHING. And the ACC does not NEED the Big 12. But some Big 12 schools need to see the writing on the Wall. And they need to JUMP to be HERE.
I'm a Big 10 guy, and like the idea of a ACC/Big 12 merger, as well as the pod set up. I love college football and would like to see a strong third conference counter balance the Big and SEC. I'd hope you could also hold on to FSU and Clemson. Love the Appalachian pod!!!
The only thing that might give one pause is if the positions were created just to employ his kids. If the positions already existed, then I don"t have a problem with hiring his children.
If your new roof doesn't leak and it was installed on time and on budget, would you care if the crew was a father and his two children?
Nope. Ironically, I do indeed have a roof leak. So I definitely don’t care. 😂
