Rich Rod was smart and he knew what he was doing. When he met the players, he said they will work harder than they have ever worked. He immediately set the tone and it scared off the lazy unmotivated players. Those are the players going into the portal. Very smart to filter out the problem players right off the bat. A very Trump like chess move by Rich Rod.
There are so many questions that need answering. Heck, we don’t even have an offensive and defensive coordinator yet. Until we get those positions filled, it’s going to be hard to get portal players.
SPOT ON - Garrett would of been more successful in a Rich Rod system for sure. I thought at the beginning of last year that was what Neal Brown had learned. But Nope, for a coach who claimed to look at STATISTICS, he refused to design his plays around what Garrett did best. Rich Rod does this. Rich is a coach on a completely different level. It is like the old saying " You don't realize what you had until it is gone!" We have seen three coaches after Rich. It showed us how much we needed a coach like Rich Rod. Hopefully we can find another one when Rich decides to retire.
@Drumwolf62 - My gut feeling is Tony Gibson is a diamond in rough and has belatedly gotten the opportunities he should have gotten earlier in his career. We'll see how he does at Marshall.
@@jonathangore5254 Another run away beer truck! Never did understand how that sports broadcaster came out with that metaphor unless he himself had drinking on his mind! Maybe there was a lot of beer commercials during that game!
Just lost our complete offense line yesterday we had 3 seniors an our great LG just hit portal.. Completely different team for next season.... Gonna be huge for Rich rod to get really good players in the portal. Even with a great staff if he cant find good players on both sides of the ball dont even expect much for next season .
Greene often played outside of his ability/forced passes etc. Nico would have helped them win a few more games this year in Neal Brown's offense. It would have been interesting to see how GG would have done in RR offense
Greene was stubborn and difficult to coach. He was often guilty of playing outside of his ability and forced passes / make plays. Rich Rod would send him packing in my opinion
@@CouzsCornerSports Agreed. If GG was the choice, then the offense should have been constructed to set up opportunities for Greene to make big plays. Hurry up. Less motion. Timing pass routes. Occasional shots down field. We could have benefited from a true option run game. RPO takes a little longer to set up.
Oklahoma has 2 freshman all american players on defense that may follow coach. , lets build a defensive stud loaded team . Pay them 2 all americans & the coach
Zac Alley had to decide if he wants to stay with his mentor in Brent Venables and coach in SEC or go down to coach in Big 12. I would stay in SEC and wait for a better job than WVU. Zac was the GA with Venables at Clemson.
Is it me or do these NB teams seem to have a higher level of injury that keep players from playing? I know it’s football, but it seems year after year we have a large number of players out for injury.
From the NFL? Doubt that’s legal. Of course, all it will take is for someone to sue for extra eligibility and the rule that says once you go pro you can’t return to college. 🤷♂️
It was poor clock management, bad play calling, they should have had CJ in there softening their defense up a bit in the first quarter, then white as RB
R.R still needs to bring in another QB. And give Nico some competition. Nicole isn't as a great runner. He can run but he's not great at it. You could use CJ like they used Owen Shmitt.
WVU gonna really struggle next season, and they could fight UCF for bottom of Conference....lol But probably turn it around in year two, but dont think this will work as well as WV fans think it will.

If you know anything about Rich Rod is he always has an athletic and solid offensive line. WVU will be just fine with the offensive line.
Wow Couz i agree with you he didn't let Green do his thing.
I think CJ could be the Owen Schmitt of this new overhauled team

Couz, I agree that Garrett would have excelled in a RichRod offense and looked pretty close to what Pat White was.
Nicco, Wilkins, and Fox are all mobile QBs.

That 9 o clock start was poetic.
Lol
Wren Baker is on 365 right now. The interview started at about 4:30 eastern.
Another wvu football channel said that the last pass was tipped.
I heard that on the broadcast as well. Forgot to mention that here. I’m not sure it changes the fact it was a bad decision.
Zac Alley would be my choice, with a coaching turn over possibly coming there he may be able to bring some of the others guys on that staff with him.
Brown seemed bent on making GG a pocket QB; which negated his biggest strength.

@@phillipanderson8067 if Brown had played a more hurry up style offense, I don’t think it would have been as glaring of an issue.

Pat Whtie wants the QB coach. I don't think Rich Rod's son is better than Pat White.
