    I think I did this right. Chain measured within spec. But right afterwards my ABS light came on, stayed on and then started blinking/flashing :( Anyone have any troubleshooting advice? The whole point of trying to DIY it was not to pay a shop to adjust the chain and now I might still have to go into one.

    • @ontherebel11
      @ontherebel11 8 часов назад

      I'm sorry to hear about your issue, how many times have you ridden your bike since the adjustment?

    • @MarcGarcia-y4m
      @MarcGarcia-y4m 7 часов назад

      @@ontherebel11 Just one day's worth. The ABS light comes on as solid. Then at about 30mph starts to flash. The manual says that this could be caused by turning the rear wheel while elevated (I did that as I cleaned and lubed the chain) but that the simple solution is turn the ignition to off and then on again and then the light should go off with some driving. Still hasn't happened yet so fingers crossed. If anyone has tips I'm all ears.

      @@MarcGarcia-y4m start the bike ride over 30 mph, and then turn it off with the key, let it rest for a couple of minutes and then repeat for 3 times. The system usually resets after 3 cycles. good luck.

    Goodness! I keep on saying I am torn between the Rebell 1100T DCT, Africa Twin DCT....but then I find myself watching goldwing videos, and I immediately want a goldwing! I am just a bit "afraid" of the 800+ lb bike.

    • @ontherebel11
      @ontherebel11 8 часов назад

      Hi Lula! No matter what bike you decide to go with, it will be some sort of compromise. There is a reason why i didn't make the switch to the goldwing yet.... I know that i will struggle with the weight, and i have a tendency to drop bikes, so dropping a goldwing could easily be a couple of thousand dollars in damage... again, weight wise and financially out of my league.... I would recommend to test ride them if possible and let the decision come to you, just be honest with yourself on what you really want and what the intended purpose of the bike is.

    • @LulaPlays
      @LulaPlays 8 часов назад

      @@ontherebel11 lots of good points. I went to a local Honda place last week and just sat on the 3 bikes I mentioned. I was surprised how light the Goldwing felt and how easy it was to move off the stand…it genuinely didn’t feel any heavier than the rebel or Africa twin. But I’d imagine you can definitely feel the weight at low speed driving. I do honestly like the value proposition of the rebel 1100T and IMO it is a great looking bike. I just worry that I will look “goofy” on the bike since I’m 6’ 240lbs (but I’ve been on a weight loss journey and hope to be down to 200 by the end of the year, already down 75 lbs!)..so maybe I won’t look too big for the bike if I get down to 200.

    • @ontherebel11
      @ontherebel11 7 часов назад

      @@LulaPlays Wow, congratulations on your weight loss journey!!! i'm glad you shared your height with me, it could end up being a determining factor... Based on the feedback i've received over the last 3 years, the Rebel might not be a comfortable bike for you, i've seen it time and time again where a rider of your height invests significant money by adding forward controls, new suspension, seat and apes, only to accept that the bike doesn't fit them and then sell it and complain about it. FYI i am 5'7 with short legs and arms, so the rebel is ideal for my size with the aforementioned modifications. Another factor to consider is what do you intend to use the bike for, is it for touring long distance or just a 30 min ride around the neighborhood? If comfort is what you are looking for, the goldwing is the best of the best. Based on your height though, the Africa Twin is a very strong candidate for all around value/compromise. I wish i was tall enough to get the Africa twin, i'd get it in a heartbeat!

    That wobble there without the luggage?

    • @ontherebel11
      @ontherebel11 16 часов назад

      Great question! The added weight of the luggage increased the squat under hard Acceleration which changed the geometry of the bike due to weak springs on the stock shocks, which in turn increased the likelihood of the wobble. I have since changed my suspension and the wobble hasn't been felt since. 👍

    Is it not necessary to pull the chain either up or down, to set zero at that point, then pull it in the opposite direction to measure complete chain slack? You seem to be measuring only one direction of play.

      Hi Mark, you'll most likely find 10 different answers to this question.... This is the way i've always done mine, but it's up to you how you would like to do it on your bike. There is a tool out there that takes the guess work out, i haven't personally used it though.

    Do you know if the Noco NLP14 can be jumped if it dies? I've seen conflicting information that lithium batteries shouldn't be jumped, however the NOCO support site notes that the NLP line is safe to use with the NOCO Boost products (not sure about other booster packs). I would like to go to a Lithium battery but also don't want to end up stranded if there is an issue with the battery and it can't be jumped easily.

    • @ontherebel11
      @ontherebel11 5 дней назад

      Hi Jeff! Great question buddy! I had the same exact question! After research and seeing Noco answer the question by stating that it can be jumped with a noco jump pack, it also stated that one might need to press the boost button, that's what comforted me since I have the noco booster along with the cable to attach it from outside. I haven't needed to try it, but rest assured if I have a dead battery, I will do my best to document jumping it with the noco like I did with the oem battery. Thank you for asking this question, it will help others. 🙏🍻

    Hello brother! I’m riding Rebel 1100, and I’m planning to go to Dubai this coming December which is about 800km. My question is how do you cover such a distance without getting tired 😅. Any advice?

    • @ontherebel11
      @ontherebel11 6 дней назад

      Hi Mohammed! That's going to be an awesome ride! I try to take breaks before I get tired, because once the discomfort and pain starts, you can't stop it. I prefer to ride no more than 400 km per day if possible. I try to stop every hour for a break. But most importantly is to have the bike comfortable for you. I added bar risers to help my back stay straight and a comfortable seat as well as a screen, those are a priority for a more comfortable ride. Keep us updated bro! 🤙

      Hi Mohammed! Not this particular model, but I have seen other owners get highway Pegs from Amazon and place them on the frame. Some mentioned that they had a tough time getting them on, but I personally don't have experience with them. Hope this helps brother 🤙

    I think Honda recommends new bolts because they automatically have threadlocker on them. Can't imagine the material is worn out.

      Hi Prince, it's possible that you are correct, but I have to report what the service manual states so that you are empowered to make a decision. 🤙

    Something interesting about the 1100 DCT (or even the manual version). There was a review from Yammy Noob recently about the Yamaha MT09, that here you can cancel the cruise control with a back-flip of the throttle (and that this is unique to this bike). I observed also before that the throttle of the 1100 can be turned backwards a bit, but I was not aware, if this had any meaning or function. After the Noob report, I tried to cancel my cruise control on the 1100 by counter-rotating the throttle.... and it worked every time, I repeated the procedure. Nobody has ever talked about this feature. Seems to be a hidden Easter egg from Honda, since I couldn't find any hints regarding this. Did you know anything about this feature? Or does this "malfunction" exist only on my bike? I am interested to hear your take on this....

      Hi there! Yes that is a great question! I still remember how happy I was to discover it, I use it all the time but it has become a reflex that I totally forgot about it! I also use the paddle shifters to disengage the cruise control, an example is that I have cruise control set to 70mph and I am on the highway overtaking and there is a car in front and another one behind me but I want to disengage the cruise control and control the throttle manually, what I do is open the throttle slightly and simultaneously press the shift up paddle, that was there is no engine Braking to catch the car behind me be surprise, it is safer that way. It's an amazing cruise control system by Honda, I love it! 🤙

    The Gus-video-drought is over, finally.... I already developed withdrawal symptoms - LOL - I bought my 1100 DCT last Nov. 9 because of a recommendation of my wife's relative, who instructed me that Honda had an automatic Rebel version now, but 1100 cc. I was all ears right away, since I was about to get the Yamaha Bolt Spec, which also an US friend of mine in my former neighbourhood bought 3 years ago. After that, the Bolt was out of the picture, but I was lucky to get the 1100. Since this bike here in the Philippines sells like fresh sliced bread. Our mayor wanted to get one too, after he had ridden my bike, and was not able to get one up to this day. Why an "automatic"? Because I am lazy. Want to ride a bike, not fight or work on it. Nature here is too beautiful to be ignored, just because you have to focus on riding a bike properly. I am too old for that "shit".... LOL Thanks for your adventure. A great pleasure to watch - as always.

      You are too kind brother! I had rented the bolt before buying the rebel 1100! I can confirm that the Rebel 1100 is head and should shoulders better! I totally agree with you and you feel about the DCT! I just want to ride as far and as long as I can! 🍻

    Absolutely amazing ride and informative video! It was a very wise and excellent riding decision to just pull over and let the tailgater pass! I absolutely love my 2022 CMX1100 DCT!! Thanks for taking us along! 👍🏾✌🏾

      Thank you Rebelations! I really appreciate your support man! I am always worried about tailgaters tbh and i'm often gesturing for them to slow down when they are too close for comfort, 99% they understand and give me a little room, for the ones that don't, i look for the first opportunity to let them go, i know my place LOL I try to set my ego aside, i'd like to ride another day, everyday....

      @@ontherebel11 I absolutely agree. We are the “little guys” on the road and it’s definitely unwise to be the “bully” with so much tonnage out there that could cause us a lot of unpleasantness, damage, pain and outright death! Thank you for the reply. 👍🏾✌🏾

    Really REALLY looking forward to longer trips with my Rebel 1100. Just hit 800 miles driving around locally the last few weeks. Only been about an hour away from my home and back at most. Planning a 3 hour ride this fall here in Michigan (would be 6 hours total, 3 there and back.). Looking forward to many many more trips like yours! I really want to ride this baby thru the desert our west. Slowly building up to a trip that's a few weeks long, maybe in a year or so! Great video as always friend!

      Hi Ryan, thanks for stopping by man!! You are definitely going about it the right way, start small and work up to it, that's how i did it as well, the rebel is a fantastic tourer, you just have to dial it in slowly over time - priority being risers, seat and screen. Enjoy the journey Ryan!!

    Great video, Gus! I look forward to your review of the dash cam, specifically with info on installation. I have a 22 DCT Rebel and that would help me decide on getting one. You have already helped me with installation on other things. Thank you so much, brother!

    With the E-Clutch isn't necessary use the hand, if you don't want too, also. The DCT weight 10kg, while the E-Clutch 2kg, so isn't possible a widespread diffusion of the DCT.

      Yes, the E-clutch is also interesting as well as the smart clutch by MVAgusta which helps provide many more options for me!
