It has a solid foundation and an unbeatable value imo, it affords us the luxury of morphing it into the machine we desire - from cafe racer to tourer, it's so versatile!! I still love mine and i am still smiling after 3 years! Thank you for your feedback Donnie!
I've had similar Viking bags on my 1100 since I got it last August. Bought the bags for my Rebel 500, they were a pain to install, and because the 500 and 1100 are different, my bags have extra air vents in them. The right bag felt like it was too close to the stock exhaust so I fixed it by replacing the exhaust with a Coffman thunder. I am glad they are finally making mounting kits for the 1100, I had to make several trips to the hardware store to get everything I needed to mount mine.
You're videos are absolutely awesome man!! You are doing us Rebellions a great service 🙏😁 you are taking almost everything in consideration and providing good methods for installation . Though I have a remark about the passenger foot pags.. Did you consider to install the bags few centimeters towards the back so that the pags will be abled to open? Seems there is still a space till the bags are approaches the signal lights. Or maybe there's not enough flexibility about that. Anyway, you are doing just great!! Thank so much Gus🙏
Hi Amir! Thank you for your kind words and encouragement brother! Thank you! Unfortunately, the front mounting bolt is at the maximum forward position... I tried very hard to move them back, but because of the shock cutout, there is no more for the front bolt to mount....
I just installed the same bags on my 1100 (leather wrapped) but one difference with my bike is I have the Honda rear cargo rack installed. This posed a bit of a problem using the fat brackets provided because the cargo rack has bolt stems that are over an inch thick. That along with the fat bracket makes the bag sit off the bike too far and I would need to use 100mm length bolts to hold them. I didn't feel comfortable with that length, so I ended up buying some flat steel brackets and drilled the holes and mounted them to the bag as support brackets instead which brought the bags in closer. I also found the passenger pegs too close for my wife to sit on the back, so I also added another bracket horizontally that mounts to the bike, then the bag attaches to the horizontal bracket instead allowing me to move the whole bag backwards a few inches. It all worked out and the bags look great and are still very solid on the bike. It would be nice if Viking took into consideration the passenger pegs in their design. I'm up here in Canada and the Passenger seat and pegs are standard on the bike. I also still have the factory exhaust installed.
Good evening, Viking is now offering quick detach saddle bags using the OEM brackets that Viking is offering with the bags. the good thing is that they are lockable from the inside so they can't be removed. Sadly they are only offering the leather hard bags. I hope they soon release Lamellar bags with the same system.
Hi Daniel!! Good to hear from you bro! Thank you for pointing it out, i will try to get my hands on a pair to test out! This would be ideal because it will allow me to use different bags using the same mounts, so exciting!!!!
Gustav, do you have any updates on the quick disconnect system you mentioned in this video? This week I had a collision wit ha deer which broke one of the latches on my factory saddlebags, and I am seriously considering replacing them with these big beauties (based on your recommendation) Am I correct that the Lamellar XL saddlebags are not actually made for the Rebel 1100? When I try to find them By Bike, they're not on the list. Thank you for your time, and I love the content you put out!
Hi Fox, so sorry to hear about the collision, but i am so glad that it wasn't worse!! Unfortunately they did not make a quick disconnect for these bags and they don't have these bags available for the 1100 anymore, but they are listed for the sportster, if you decide to order these bags, i would recommend that you get new bolts M8 80mm bolts that are class12.9, these are much stronger than the ones they provide, as i learnt the hard way while i was on a trip to Canada. They do make a different looking bag that is quick connect using the SLC system, i might try those out in the future.

Hi Gus, well nice work👍👍👍. The best "self-made" attitude. But I think they should release these bags just when they finish mounting system. According to me they should prepare all holes and mounts without any "users drilling". But your attitude is perfect as usual😉. I would do it in the same way👍👍👍👍👍👍. And those bags looks perfect. Much better than honda canvas bags and even better then their touring plastic bags...... I would choose these Vikings ones👍 Havr a nice day😁
Hi Miro, i hope you are doing well my friend!! Thank you for your continued support brother, it means alot to me! I agree that it would be nice to get them predrilled, but i understand why they don't do that as these bags are universal for many bikes and no 2 bikes are alike, maybe it will cost too much to manufacture and stock bags for every model bike out there and they won' be able to keep the price this low anymore....
You installed the Saddlebags to forward. You're supposed to install it far back by the turn signals so you can have a passenger place there foot on the pegs.
Hi Geraint, that's as far rearward i could mount them due to the shock cutout, you'll be able to see in the installation section where the forward hole is drilled.... i wish they were to the rear by a couple of inches too.
I have a couple of questions. 1. What do these bags cost and how much will the quick release brackets cost? 2. Why did you mount the brackets at a slant? Wont they fit straight? 3. When they do come out with the quick connect brackets, why dont they just mount them on the bags at the factory and save everyone the hassle? Thanka for the nice vid?
Hi There, good to hear from you brother! 1. The cost is half the cost of the SW Motech, under $500!!!! Best value out there tbh. 2. I had to mount the front one slanted so to keep it uniform i matched the rear, turned out great imo. 3. great question! These bags are universal for many bikes, i guess it makes sense to them to keep them that way as it gives the end user the flexibility to account for exhausts and other accessories, it would be nice to have a model for each bike predrilled..... Thank you!!
At the that time they were available for the rebel 1100, but for some reason they don't have them listed anymore.... But the Lamellar bags are the same for the 500, just make sure you ask for the FAT brackets if you decide to go this route. They have several options for the rebel 1100 available now though 🍻
Hi Tim, Here is a link to a short clip about the screen, you'll find the link in that video's description if you decide to get one. ruclips.net/video/mqzl_dE7SrQ/видео.html&si=Vp5RftiJQQ6LaQzt As for the exhaust, it is a custom exhaust, basically a straight pipe that you can have a local exhaust shop make for you.
Hi Shawn, i was waiting fo the quick release that viking were developing. I really miss being able to remove the bags... need to figure something out..
Please advise what top box you had on at the beginning of your video. I'm interested in something I can put my full face helmet and jacket in when I park for lunch. Thanks for all you do for Rebel owners.
Hi Jeff! The top box is awesome man, i took it on a 2,000 trip to test it out, made the ride so much more conformable and convenient, great value too! here's a little segment where i review it on the last day of the trip. It can fit a large full face helmet with room to spare, not sure about being able to fit a jacket in there too though. ruclips.net/video/8LKyBVvni6U/видео.htmlsi=A8TGOugsteVlw8pt&t=1093 Here is the link, mine is the 32 L, they have a larger one as well, the cool thing about it is that you can buy so many other top boxes for the same base plate from Givi. www.t-rex-racing.com/2021-2022-Honda-Rebel-1100-1100T-Luggage-Rack-p/n26-21luggagerack.htm

Hi Gus, have you done a video on cam chain adjustment? I would do it every 15kmiles. Yours is way past due if you haven't done it. If the cam chain gets too loose, it will slap the tensioner guides and possibly skip a tooth.
This is the bag that i am using, i've had it for 3 years and it's still going strong!! sw-motech.us/en/products/luggage/Legend+Gear/bags+accessories/4052572041253.htm?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwoa2xBhACEiwA1sb1BEFGjFUWuy1UG7hSqLqyH2ev4vP1kJv5nDGKE5ShJzB4c2fQgR-XpBoCh_AQAvD_BwE
Quick disconnect would be very nice... I've had Viking Bags on mine for years, but its a custom made mount, nothing anyone made would fit it. Its a pain to take on and off.
Hi David, I'm sorry to report that these have been discontinued for the rebel 1100. You might find them listed for another model. Lamellar XL Raven 34L bags with shock cutouts. Call them and ask them for those bags and ask for the FAT brackets, you will probably need to buy M8 bolts to mount them if you have your heart set on them, otherwise you could check out the new quick release bags they have 👍
Hi! Initially they had bags similar to the one you see in the video with a quick release only to discontinue them once again lol. They have other bags that are quick release that I'm not too sure about... They look great, just concerned they might be tool small for my needs.....
@ontherebel11 Thx, I just saw them. They're only 20L. I'd like to start traveling so I'm not so sure either. I was looking at their trunk to maybe make up for the smaller bags, but they're already all sold out. Thx!
Hi Donnie, i got the Lamellar raven XL 34 L bags that come with the new FAT bracket, i don't see them listed on the 1100 page.... please contact viking bags directly as i don't want to give you any wrong information. sorry about that
Love the channel and the bags look gorgeous. One question tho as someone who is looking into buying a Rebel fairly soon. In what order would you upgrade parts on this bike if you had to het them one at a time ? I often hear that the seat isnt comfortable and that the rear shock could use an upgrade.
Thank you!!! Great question!! 3 most important mods to do are: 1. Seat 2. Risers 3. Screen But everything will depend on how you intend on riding, if you ride below 50 mph and only ride 20 miles per ride, you don't need to change anything. It also depends on your height and weight. I am short at 5'7" so the risers were a must, without the risers i would have sold the bike as i have back issues and need to be straight up instead of leaned over. I use my bike for touring so most of y mods are related to prolonging the ride with comfort items. Let me know if you have any questions, we were in your shoes not too long ago and had a million questions.
@@ontherebel11 Appreciate the swift response. I'm 5'9" , 260lbs so on the heavier side you could say haha. That is why I'm worried about comfort on longer rides. Planned to be used mostly shorter rides with 1-2 longer trips per year. Had a two week exploration of Italy last year that would have been so much more enjoyable on a motorcycle rather than a car.
@Jevta624 in your situation, the budget you set aside for the upgrades is the limiting factor, I would highly recommend better rear suspension that have a spring rated for your weight. Another factor to consider is your pain threshold, back in the day we rode the bike as is and never complained 🤣🤣 Getting older forced me to have to invest in all these mods. In my case it was easily justifiable because the platform of the rebel 1100 DCT is perfect for me, so I was committed to making it my own. I don't want to buy a goldwing due to weight, size and price, and I don't want to ride tall bikes such as the Africa twin, so the DCT, cruise control and low seat height are unbeatable for me, hence my journey to make it work for my needs. It's all in the approach brother, I've seen quite a few people buy the rebel only to get disappointed then sell it to buy something more comfortable such as the goldwing and Africa Twin. Just sharing what I've seen in case it will help you in your journey.
Is there a best practice to determine how to line the tops to be level? It looks like you used your luggage rack as the plane from which to level off although there is a rear pillion in your video. I'm so afraid of wrecking $300 bags.
Hi there! Great question! My recommendation is to use the template and a level to get the bags level, the rear mustang seat isn't a good reference point as you can see in the installation portion. If you have a cargo carrier like mine, it will be helpful, mine just happened to align with it after I leveled the bags. 👍
@@ontherebel11 Thanks! You answered my question but I didn't ask correctly, I think. I mean the height of the bag in relation to the fender or seat. The tops of your motech bags looked to the above the plane of your fender, but the tops of your Viking bags seem lower. I fear mounting the bags too high or too low.
@@Gorillakilla304 to get the bags in the apx position height wise, look at the section where I measure the bolt hole on the template. I was roughly in the middle. That should give you an idea of how high mine are relative to you, I'm sorry but I can't remember the exact distance of the bolt. The nice thing about using the template is that you can keep adjusting it until you are happy with the height. Once you like where it is, you can reference the video to see how it compares to mine. 👍
@Gorillakilla304 if you take a look during drilling the holes, you'll see that I had to because of the shock cutout, if I had the front bracket vertical, I wouldn't be able to bolt the bottom hole to anything. You'll see it in the section where I am marking the holes.
@@ontherebel11 That's just what i meant, one slipon on the left, and one slipon to the right. And then at the hight of the swingarm, so there is plenty of room for streched saddlebags, and of course a streched rear fender😅
Two things: 1) You don't have stock pipes therefore the right bag won't work on a stock bike unless the bag sits on the pipe and melts. 2) Where is the passenger going to put her A__?
Hi James, i personally haven't installed these bags with the stock exhaust, but i did include a picture that shows the bags mounted over a stock exhaust.
Oh no!! Already out? something isn't right, my friend just received his yesterday! Unfortunately my contact will only be able to respond on Monday.... sorry about that..
These bags look great, it is the tinkering and tweaking that is the pain in the ass. This is not a solution but a nightmare. Unless saving a hundred dollars is woth the frustration.
Those brackets look nothing like the ones they sent me 2 years ago. As I said before, the setup they provided stripped out the fender threads due to wobbling. They have sat in my garage for years now. And, I paid $499, they're only $349 now. I got robbed. They should give me the quick disconnect hardware free for my trouble.
@@ontherebel11 I "reached out to them" two years ago and their response was "that's all we have for hardware". I'm still pissed. Yes, maybe they may make it right but I am not calm enough to talk with them. I'll eat the $499 and go back to my soft bags. I have seen other nightmares from people who bought their crap. For instance, some got SAE bolts to bolt up to a Japanese bike. WTF is that. Everyone in the world knows every thread on a Rice burner is metric. I hope all of this gets read by many wanting to deal with them. Their bag hardware IS NOT customized to the Rebel. They are the only ones that I have bought bags from that required drilling/modification by the purchaser. Buy Givi or some other brand that bolts right up! To get their crap to even mount, I had to drill, measure, go to the hardware store to try to make it fit and it still failed. They have my information on record, have them contact ME!
@@jamescampolo7824 I understand how that can be very frustrating James, I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Keep in mind that sometimes a line associate or a phone operator can make us feel that way, it doesn't mean that the company and the people behind it train them to be this way, it is not in their interest to mistreat customers, their objective is to maximize sales. With any saddlebags we decide to invest in, it will always be some sort of compromise in one way or another. My objective is to present options for current and future owners so that they don't go through the frustrations we went through with a new model bike. 👍

@ontherebel11 mounted ours and it looks way high with the quick release ans sticks out far. I wonder if the viking ones will look better.
Those bags are beautiful. Imagine the first time you lay it down, how you're going to cry. lol
hahahahha i have a tendency to drop bikes LOL seems like you know me well hahaha
It can fit a large full face helmet with room to spare, not sure about being able to fit a jacket in there too though.

at 1:21 you mention a discount code is there one? I've been looking at getting these and a discount would be perfect
As soon as they provide me with one, i will post it in the description, they were running an easter discount of 25%, it might still be running, Try EASTER25
Hi Gus, I contacted Viking and they are sending me the updated mounting hardware.
Hi James! That's fantastic news! Thank you for sharing!
Hi Gus, have you done a video on cam chain adjustment? I would do it every 15kmiles. Yours is way past due if you haven't done it. If the cam chain gets too loose, it will slap the tensioner guides and possibly skip a tooth.
It's pretty easy to do.
What is that side back you have attached to your bike on the right side below the seat? I’m interested in getting one!
This is the bag that i am using, i've had it for 3 years and it's still going strong!! sw-motech.us/en/products/luggage/Legend+Gear/bags+accessories/4052572041253.htm?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwoa2xBhACEiwA1sb1BEFGjFUWuy1UG7hSqLqyH2ev4vP1kJv5nDGKE5ShJzB4c2fQgR-XpBoCh_AQAvD_BwE
Quick disconnect would be very nice... I've had Viking Bags on mine for years, but its a custom made mount, nothing anyone made would fit it. Its a pain to take on and off.
Hi Aya!! I'm so excited about the quick disconnect mount, and it is lockable!!! I can't wait!
Can you be more specific about which Lamellar XL bags these are? There are several different versions. Thanks
Hi David, I'm sorry to report that these have been discontinued for the rebel 1100. You might find them listed for another model. Lamellar XL Raven 34L bags with shock cutouts. Call them and ask them for those bags and ask for the FAT brackets, you will probably need to buy M8 bolts to mount them if you have your heart set on them, otherwise you could check out the new quick release bags they have 👍
Hi, did Viking Bags ever get back to you about the quick release?
Thx!
Can you please advise what bags and mounting kit you used. Thanks
3 most important mods to do are:
1. Seat
2. Risers
3. Screen
But everything will depend on how you intend on riding, if you ride below 50 mph and only ride 20 miles per ride, you don't need to change anything.
Another factor to consider is your pain threshold, back in the day we rode the bike as is and never complained 🤣🤣
Getting older forced me to have to invest in all these mods.
Last question: what made you determine the brackets needed mounted on a slant?
@Gorillakilla304 if you take a look during drilling the holes, you'll see that I had to because of the shock cutout, if I had the front bracket vertical, I wouldn't be able to bolt the bottom hole to anything. You'll see it in the section where I am marking the holes.
Now waiting for the streched version, and a dual exhaust😊😊 Just kidding, it looks great! Are they similar in size?
LOL i've been thinking about a project to install a dual exhaust.... these are identical left to right !
@@ontherebel11 That's just what i meant, one slipon on the left, and one slipon to the right. And then at the hight of the swingarm, so there is plenty of room for streched saddlebags, and of course a streched rear fender😅
Can you share the Part Number for these exact bags? THANKS
Hi Thomas, it is best that you reach out to Viking bags, i am not sure why they are not listed on the rebel 1100 page, maybe they are out of stock.
Can anyone link the specific product page I can’t find them
look for them under "sportster 1200" page.
How many liters of capacity does each one have?
17 L each i believe
I want to see your review after you put 500 miles on the bike with these bags.
As soon as i get some free time, i will be taking a trip with these to stress test them in the field.
ciao.

unless I'm missing it they don't have these bags available right now, they can't have sold out that fast
Oh no!! Already out? something isn't right, my friend just received his yesterday! Unfortunately my contact will only be able to respond on Monday.... sorry about that..
These bags look great, it is the tinkering and tweaking that is the pain in the ass. This is not a solution but a nightmare. Unless saving a hundred dollars is woth the frustration.

very nice señor, u can even fit candy in the bag, plenty of room ;)
Hi Julio! Thank you bro! 😅
Viking bags are great.
Yes they are great, i am very happy with them and can't wait for the quick connect version!
I'm sorry to hear that James, i recommend that you reach out to them to them, you never know they might work with you.

The hardware we sent would be the only hardware we have to send you." This to me is like "go fuck yourself".

They're going to send you a "disconnect syteem". They should send me one and maybe I can mount them the way they should be on my Rebel.

I totally understand your frustration, i was looking forward to your feedback regarding the new brackets.
