I just watched this again 6 months later. The Rebel and the whole riding community owe you a debt of gratitude, brother. You have me and so many others with your wisdom and examples. I'm sure I speak for many when I say Thank You!
Hi Eric!! Always a pleasure to hear from you brother!! THANK YOU so much for your words of encouragement Eric, i sincerely appreciate your support!! Thank you!
I wish everyone did this good of a job on reviews. Awesome details. You covered more topics in 40 minutes than others would in 2-3 hours. No rambling or stammering. Good video editing. Thank you, thank you!!! There’s a few other bikes higher on my wish list but this is a great take. I’m also 5’7” so your comments are really hitting home.
Hi D L! great to hear from you brother! Thank you very much for your encouragement, it motivates me to be better, thank you! I'm currently on my way back home from a 5 day trip, during the trip i repeatedly thought to myself how happy i am with the ease of handling the bike due to the slow seat height and ease of operation, here's a fresh example: i took a ferry and i remember feeling a bit anxious about maneuvering onboard on a slippery surface, then the felt relief when i realized that i can flat foot the bike - i can't tell you how many times i've dropped bikes from the late 80s till now. Each time i go on a multi day trip i fall in love with the bike all over again, i wish you have the ability to test ride one out before you make a decision. If you have any questions that i didn't cover in the video please reach out and i'll be happy to answer your questions brother!
Hands down, one of the most comprehensive motorcycle reviews I’ve ever seen. I wish he was able to review bunch of different bikes in the same way but I understand that these kinds of reviews take time and a personal passion for the specific bike you’re reviewing but a guy can dream can’t he??
Congratulations and thank you so much for the most useful, comprehensive and perfect review I've ever seen. Please keep reviewing the Rebel! Ciao from Italy!🤟🏻🇮🇹🇺🇲
A great, professional, easy to understand and objective review. It's been a pleasure to listen to all those interesting comments and advices. I will certainly take the advantage of some of them for my Rebel 1100. It's a wonderful bike and the more I'm happy of having one after viewing this excellent review. Thank you and wish you next 30.000 km of enjoying your Rebel :)
The level of professionalism and educational input that you have provided in your vid on the Rebel bike is phenomenal!!! Ive been thinking of laying my hands on this nice Honda cruiser and your great video has helped me dispel any potential queries or worries…Great job!!! Many thanks!!!
I finally sold my sportster 48 and picked up a brand new 2022 rebel 1100 dct! Been watching all your videos and this one saved my side covers. The dealer installed an sae plug which was awesome since I took it home in low 40s. This allowed me to plug in my all my Milwaukee leather heated gear with an adapter. After a couple short rides I noticed those side covers just didn't look right and sure enough they didn't install those clips right exactly like you thought! Thanks for all your experience.
@On the Rebel 11 new muffler is first for sure! Probably just adapt the one from the ctx that was a sportster slip on. Then swingarm bags and a tail bag and probably a small windscreen for now. Absolutely loving the bike, its everything I was hoping it was!
@@genoapb fantastic to hear brother! So happy to hear that you like it, once you get it dialed in for your comfort, you will love it more each day you ride! 🤙
I have been the owner of a Rebel 1100T_DCT since June of this year. I have watched many driving review videos over the past 2 months and yours is the most detailed explanation. Thank you.
Thank you for the review. I appreciate your candor on what are the issues the bike has, how you customized your 1100 and that you truly love it. I wish you may happy rides in your future.
Fantastic review once again 👏. I am 61, and have been riding since I was 16. I have had many bikes over the years, and have been on Harleys and Buells since 1992. At 5 foot 4 inches, and joints that aren't so supple as they once were then ergonomics, and driving/manoeuvring characteristics are equally important as bhp, lean angle, and 0-60..... I applaud your comprehensive, and informative reviews, and feel that a departure from my beloved V-twins to a parallel may well be on the horizon. Thanks, and keep them coming. Ride safe 🙏 👍
Thank you for your kind words John, it makes it all worth it when people find the video helpful. I continue to appreciate the rebel and just can't find a replacement tbh.... I've searched believe me 🤣🤣 It's just so convenient and easy to own... Not to mention that it still makes me smile from ear to ear! Thank you for sharing your feedback John! 🙏
Greetings from France. I collected my bike only yesterday, Rain Mode imperative. I've been watching a lot of YT videos on the 1100DCT, some of only marginal utility. Then I happened upon this one. Excellent! You've acquired an enthusiastic subscriber.
Salut, et merci beaucoup! Congratulations on getting one of the best motorcycles in the market! You will grow to love it more each day you ride it! Thank you for your kind words 🙏
@@ontherebel11 De rien! Your review was superbly informative and will be very useful. A quick Q: Where did you find the custom exhaust? The OE is a swollen, obstructive carbuncle. I've no wish to desecrate the environment with noise, but I want to make it simple (and safe) to raise the rear wheel to clean and lubricate the chain.
@@m2menuiserie540 🙏 thank you!! My exhaust was hand made in sweeden, I got lucky because a fellow owner decided to sell it. It is a straight pipe so it is loud, but a dB killer can be added to it. I'm sure you can find a local shop in France to make one for you. It might be a little expensive because everything has to be done and welded by hand, I appreciate it because watching the welding process is like watching an artist, it is very difficult!
I owned an 1100 dct when 🎉hey first came out. Your video is the best and most informative one ever published. Ive created several and watched many over the past few years. Great job, and thanks!
Hi Jeff! It's so cool of you to stop by brother! I'm a fan! I really appreciate your support and encouragement brother, it means so much coming from you! Much respect 🙏
This has to be the best rebel 1100 review on RUclips. I’ve been doing a lot of research as I’ve spent 3 years on my mt-03 and want to upgrade, this video helped a lot. Thank you!
great overview! this just reinforces my desire to get one. I love that the DCT gives you the choice to relax and look around or ride harder when you want to and just switch back and forth at will. I can't wait until I can responsibly purchase this bike. thanks for the video!
Banger video as always Gus! Glad I got to partake in some of those miles/rides with you. I'm loving my Rebel 1100 everyday. I really want the new windscreen and hard bags from the touring model!
Hi Link! So good to hear from you brother! Yes, riding together is so much fun! We gotta sort out a long tour! I'm actually itching to go on a trip 🤣🤣 it's been too long!
Only 3.27k subscribers? Well you just got 1 more man. What a amazing, lengthy and informative video. I was thinking about getting a manual or a DCT and I might just get the dct for the fact you can just set it to Manual mode and have fun if you want.
@@ontherebel11 I hope you're recording that trip because i would love to see that journey! I found a DCT near me and told the dealer to get it ready. They still have it in the packaging box so it will be ready next saturday! Keep it up man, i'll be here for the journey
@@Soldier-In-Hell Congratulations!!! i can't wait to hear your opinion man! I am recording some of the testing of new additions on the bike and new gear! The Aux lights are a huge win for riding at night! Today's adventure will be in Nashville and first leg of the Natchez Trace Parkway!!!!
I've been in the market for a bike for sometime and the Honda Rebel has been on my radar for a while. Thank you for such a great review which has helped me decide. The Rebel 1100 DCT is going into the garage this spring, thanks for helping me make this very important decision.
Hi Calvin! Thank you for sharing that, you just made my day brother! I'm very excited for you, you will love the way the bike rides! Just be patient with the making the bike comfortable for your dimensions, that's the one thing that most people struggle with in the beginning. Would love to hear your feedback once you get the bike, it's fun to relive those memories through new owners! please reach brother!
WOW Without a doubt this is an outstanding review and well worth my time to watch. So many reviews out there are just a big waste of time. Thank you so much for being up-front and honest and detailed with your experience and spending so much time creating/publishing this video. Wish others would learn from you and post valuable content since most of the car reviews/bike reviews are garbage videos and a waste of time to watch. Great job!!
Hi Jeff! There are a few CTX owners that have switched to the rebel 1100, I've heard good feedback from them after they switched! Thank you for your feedback! 🙏
Excellent video, Gus. It is absolutely amazing how my observations are EXACTLY the same as yours. I have the same identical bike as you do. I have found the same issues as you have, and your workarounds are spot on. I also appreciate all the work you put into this video showing the different things you talked about. I have made a few adjustments to improve my comfort, (Corbin Gun Slinger seat and Burly Brand Mini Ape handlebars). I think the most significant improvement which came from your suggestion is the Cruisetec Tires. They have completely changed the handling and comfort of the bike. I cannot thank you enough for that suggestion. I have a little over 14,000 miles on my bike and ride it almost daily down here in Florida. Honda makes a great product and I think the only bike I would trade this one for would be the Gold Wing. (I have to wait until my financial manager (wife) approves it though.) haha Thank you again. You have allowed me to get more out of my bike and optimize its enjoyability. Peace, brother. Eric
Eric! Brother it's so good to hear from you! I sincerely appreciate your kindness and friendship! I am in the same boat as well, if i had the space and resources i would have a goldwing!!!!
Looks like the comments are unanimous, just wanted to say I own a 500 and still watched this for the excellent breakdown on your mods and maintenance, and really appreciate the overall thoroughness of your impressions and opinions. Thank you!
I am a 60 year young returning rider (10 year break) and itching to get back on two wheels. Until very recently, my only reference to Rebels were the 250cc bikes used in MSF beginner classes. Boy, have they come a long way! While I'm just beginning my new bike exploration and have yet to look around and see what's even out there, there is really something about this bike that is ringing all the bells for me. Thank you for your very thorough breakdown and especially including the recommendation for returning riders! I'm already pretty sure I know what my next new ride will be and getting crazy excited about it! I think Honda must get some kind of cut from Corbin or Mustang though. I owned a Shadow and could not swap out my stock seat for a Mustang fast enough. Man, was that a painful seat. I was originally leaning toward the manual version (it's what I know), but you've said some things that have sweetly been swaying me toward checking out the DCT. Your dragging the brake with one hand kind of blew my mind. I used to take great pride in slow maneuvers, but they did require a lot more coordination and definitely required two hands. Hmm... automatic...
Hi Spryttle, one of my favorite comments!! I was in your shoes in 2020, i had stopped riding for 10 years and decided to get back into it. After extensive research that lasted a year, fate intervened. I was not in the market for a cruiser, my background is motocross and sportbike riding. My search criteria was is there an "automatic" motorcycle as i was tired of the clutch - did enough of that. The results brought me to the NC750X which i convinced myself that i was going to love, only to be disappointed when the 2021 model never showed up at my dealership or anywhere.... that's when they released the rebel 1100 DCT - i kept an open mind and did lots of research and self reflecting. out of desperation i "settled" for the cruiser.... little did i know that i was going to fall madly in love with it! I was so shocked that i decided to document my journey so that if someone like me was looking for a bike, they will find the answers to the same questions i had - is it fun, am i going to like it, does it handle well, is it reliable, what the hell is DCT and how does it work, how do you ride a DCT, will i be able to control which gear i am in? how does cruise control work on the a bike, what problems does the DCT have and how much will it cost to repair if it breaks, a million questions as i'm sure you can imagine. In all honesty, my biggest disappointment with the bike is that it wasn't comfortable for me as i am vertically challenged. I tried to document my experimentations with comfort mods in hopes that it will help someone out - at least to present options for possible solutions. once i dialed it in, it fit like a glove! I just walked in the house after a 1,300 mile trip, i fell in love with the bike all over again! I am looking forward to the next generation of the rebel 1100! I am very excited about getting a second bike, but i just can't go back to a manual.... the DCT is superior in every way imho. Please feel free to reach out if you have unanswered questions or concerns. i just 23,726 miles / 37,961 KM, the bike purrs and is always ready to rumble!! Thank you for your comment, you made my day!
@@ontherebel11 And your reply made mine!! I honestly wasn't really even THAT in the market for buying anything. I've been in "One day I'll get back into it... " mode. But I'm really surprised at how giddy I'm getting over this Rebel! Just accidentally stumbled on a link for it and I feel like I'm having that shock of love at first sight! And I know this feeling well. It means it's pretty much a done deal. Maybe not the next week or month, but I'm gonna have to get that MC insurance added back to my policy soon. lol
@@ontherebel11 I rode the new scooter home today! She finally found her way to the Honda dealer. I felt a little dusty, so of course needed to get a quick hour in to blow some of the cobwebs out. Yours is the first video I'm rewatching now that I can actually look at specific aspects of the bike. I think the risers, seat and mid-controls will be the first to change. It's a fun bike, but the riding position make my shoulders a bit angry. I'm actually really enjoying the DCT, although I find myself ghost shifting constantly. lol! Pretty jazzed! Thanks again for this gem of a video. I more or less bought the bike unseen and you helped to answer a lot of questions I had... and many I DIDN'T know I had! Looking forward to getting many miles of asphalt therapy and learning more about this sweet machine. Stay safe out there!
@@spryttle WOW, congratulations!! I am so happy to hear that you like the DCT!! the comfort is definitely the first priority!! Thank you so much for sharing your journey with the community, this will be so helpful to many people! 🤙
I really appreciate your very detailed explanations! Thanks. I just purchased an 1100 DCT and am anxious to start my modifications. Your videos will be a great tool!!
Congratulations Buck!!! Once you have the bike dialed in for your comfort, you will fall in love and you won't get bored!!! Please reach out if you have any questions!
Hi Brian, keep in mind that these issues have been gathered from owners all around the world over a 2.5 year period, in my experience they are minor and insignificant, but i respect that others may find them as a deterrent to owning the rebel, hence i wanted to keep the review as honest as possible for potential owners to make an educated decision before committing. Thank you for your feedback brother!
Gus, best piece of advice you've provided... Know when to run the transmission in Automatic mode, when cruising, and when to run it in Manual mode anytime you do the twisties or roads with lots of curves where you don't want the bike shifting in the middle of a turn automatically. Experience is the best teacher! My HD Sport Glide is the same way in curves... it's much much better to have your bike in a lower gear and have the throttle control less sensitive than have it in a higher gear and having an engine with a lot of displacement and torque, having a twitchy throttle cause your rear end to sag, front end to come up, and destroy the line you're riding through the turn on a high HP high torque engine. I was looking into a Rebel 1100, but at 6' 5", there was no way for it to fit me properly with those mid peg controls.
Thank you brother! 🙏 I have seen taller riders be comfortable on a Rebel, especially with forward controls, but it's very difficult for me to relate being 5'7 🤣🤣🤣
Probably the best and most useful mc review I have ever seen. Thank you. Currently on a 2012 NC700X (non-DCT) with 45K miles owned for 3 years and thinking about the next bike. You really got me excited about the DCT with your demo using manual and cruise control. Rebel 1100 vs Suzuki DE800 but even at 5 feet 10 inches I don't really like tall bikes.
Hi Paul!! Thanks man, that's very kind of you!! BTW, after a 10 year break from riding and a whole year of research, i had decided to get a 2021 NC 750X, after failing to located any in the states i couldn't wait any longer.... The rebel 1100 DCT was released and i chose to keep an open mind and give it a try with the option of trading it in when the NC showed up. Little did i know that i was going to fall in love with this bike, the only NC i'm interested in now is the State (excellent roads)!! Things happen for a reason and i'm proud of myself for not being my usual stubborn self and keeping an open mind instead. The Rebel with the DCT rekindled my passion for bikes and i'm always looking at something to top it, nothing out there with such a package that fits both my stature and riding style! I also predict when i get a second bike, that i will gravitate to the rebel for it's ease of use and addictive high. come on Rebel 1300 DCT already!! LOL Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions that i didn't cover in the video. Good luck with your decision Paul, i know it isn't easy.
@@ontherebel11 the problems with the nc700x as follows: 2tall means it's trickier to deal with because of the height and getting solid footing when you're say backing the bike up and there's a little sand on the pavement. Second problem is you sit up too high in the Wind third when you corner you've got a long way to go to get the bike down into the Curve third I find myself tempted to occasionally scrape eggs and that's not really safe on the street. Thus a cruiser solves these issues. The rebel 1100 is more than a knockoff Harley and I really like the touring package with the hard bags and batwing fairing, cruise control and DCT is something you can't get in any other brand. Parallel twins are today's go to engine and 82 horsepower is perfect more than 50 that the ncx has but less than 100 which opens the door to unsafe speeds.
@@pcofranc well said Paul! I've dropped so many bikes because of the footing issue you describe, got so tired of it over the past 30 years.... The rebel solved so many of my issues, both the known and unknown, the tangible and intangible! Love this bike!
Fantastic video, very detailed and answered to all my questions even to the non existing ones. I got my Rebel in March 21 And got 12,100 miles on it. So far no problems and my tires are still look good. It's interesting about the vibration. I never had it ,but now I now why. I adjusted my rear socks the same way you did. On the end of the first ride and didn't go faster than 60 miles hour. The only thing bothers me is the ergonomics. I'm 5'10.5" 181 Lbs. and my shoulders and lower back was hurting after an hour. Finally I got a driver's back rest from Japan maid for the Rebel. Made by Daytona. What a difference. Strongly recommended. No more back pain and my shoulders are 50% better also. I wish I vould of gotten them a year ago. They are $275.00 One more funny thing. I ride my bike with the cruise control exactly the same way you are doing it. By the way I'm always in the manual mode custom sporty setting by me. I just love to pull that trigger all the time. I wanted to trade it for Something else, but just couldn't do it. I think I'm going to get the same tires you recommended when I need them. I also got an air seat cover. a better horn a cool GPS and soft grips and still love the bike. Thanks again for your efforts, take care.
Andre! It's so good to hear from you man! Yes, I have my eye on the Daytona backrest, I just wish it could attach to the bolt under the seat, I may end up fabricating a steel single point bracket to attach the same backrest as the passenger, I want it to be as low profile as possible! Thank you for chiming in brother! 🙏
@ 17 minutes in I got inspired. Yeah, we don't want no wheelie control or traction control. This bike makes sense. In the early days BMW was known for making dependable lightweight touring bikes that could hold a lot of weight. However, either what people wanted, or what people thought they wanted, or what designers and engineers thought people wanted, whatever it was, they no longer were lightweight tourers. I believe this bike should have a long historical run. It makes sense. Maybe I should buy one before they're not lightweight anymore. I like the soft luggage. Hope it will keep stuff dry in the rain.
Hi Ray, we thing alike! I was asking myself why i love this bike so much when there are so many others out there, the simple answer is that it is so easy to ride and own! In the sense that it is so light, nimble, fun, powerful, exciting and just a breeze to roll backwards or just roll it around. I have done sever trips of a few thousand miles each, the longest being 3,000 miles. I love the light weight setup for touring that i have, and the bags have a waterproof liner and have been tested in heavy rain over several hours per day, no problems at all.
Great video! Love mine so much, got a couple thousand miles on it already since summer. It's my daily for work and I really think it's as good of a city commuter as any other bike out there. So comfortable in traffic (especially with the dct), quick AF, and more maneuverable than it should be for an 1100cc bike. They're tough too! Wrecked mine pretty good, but after some new forks and handlebars, it's back to riding like new. I'm 5'9" w/ short legs and use the T-Rex extenders on my pegs. I've got em set at the first adjustment spot, and it's almost perfect. Just enough forward to relax the legs, but still have a sportier/scrambler feel. Gonna check out those bar extenders you have and see how that'd make mine feel. I'm in the process of bobbing it out, so trying lots of different ergonomic stuff out while I do.
I'm sorry to hear about wreck brother, the most important thing is that you are alright! Good on you for getting back on the horse, and thank you for sharing that with the community! 🙏
Great review. I have a DCT Wing bagger and though I hated the DCT at first I've come to love it. It took about a year to explore and appreciate all that you can do with it much of which you covered. Thank you.
currently own a 2018 NC 750 X DCT but now especially after viewing this video I really want to add a Rebel DCT for touring (longer rides). I think I've watched almost every YT video out there on this bike and this one is BY FAR the best video hands down. New scriber here. Thanks!
Thank you for your kind words Kenton! As fate would have it, the 2021 nc750x was delayed to arrive at the dealership, and at the same time the rebel 1100 DCT came out, I couldn't wait to get back to riding after a 10 year break, so I got the rebel 1100 DCT instead, I couldn't have been happier, I doubt that I would have loved the nc750x as much as the rebel 1100, such a fun bike to ride! I'm at 24k miles and still loving it! 🤙
An excellent video, very informative and detailed. A huge thank you ! for taking the time. Your videos are a delight to watch, this one sets the bar very high in terms of quality. Greetings from France.
Thank you very much for this. I very interested to get a Rebel 1100 T on Xmas. The only thing I don't like is how tuned down and "dead" the engine is. I saw Moore finally tuning the ECU and making into a beast.
@@ontherebel11 thank you, I will. Just going around the neighborhood has been crazy 😜 not shifting. Left side of my body is not sure why it’s there other than to hang on, honk horn, turn signals, oh, and use the paddle shifters, and the turn signals. Time to order mods however. Everyone is correct with replacing the seat, a bit uncomfortable.
Great video. I have the manual rather than the DCT variant and some mods, including a cheap small screen, engine guards with cylindrical steel footpegs, none OEM saddle bags, bar end mirrors, hand guards, re-upholstered seats with extra padding by a local firm that my Honda dealer recommended themselves, but the best mod you can possibly do is get rid of those god awful Dunlop tyres. They are absolutely shocking. After around 2k miles, I had so much vibration on mine that I came very close to selling the bike. I had no idea what was causing it. Tried removing the screen and changing the pre-load thinking it was maybe a variation of the wobble problem (not that I've had that myself). Rear tyre was close to being worn after 6k miles and thankfully no OEM tyres anywhere to be found, so went with the Avon Cobras, but the Metz that you have were a very close 2nd. It's a completely different bike now. No vibration, better grip, especially in the wet and on poor road surfaces, they perform so much better than the Dunlops. I'll never use those again. Happy New Year from the UK.
Thank you very much for sharing your experience, the community will benefit from it! I've heard quite a few owners complain about vibrations due to the OEM tires recently!
I'm very happy to hear that it was helpful!! Please don't hesitate to ask me questions you may have that were not covered in the video! I still remember the amount of extensive research i did before pulling the trigger on the Rebel, back then there was very little information available....
Thanks for providing such a detailed review of the Rebel 1100. I may have missed it, but earlier in the video you mentioned a work-around for the foot pegs when on longer freeway rides. I'm currently shopping for the same bike, but concerned about not having a place to install freeway pegs. Looking forward to your insights. :)
Thank you Richard!!! Here is a demonstration of how i use the highway pegs while touring: ruclips.net/video/s88imO8lzzw/видео.htmlsi=YKlvskZxe7Iss7hF&t=100 Here's a detailed video: ruclips.net/video/axvLeqUsTjY/видео.htmlsi=PGJ3uaNtDjUcdNCL Hope this helps brother.
Maybe a vendor will design a front fork brace, that would help eliminate high speed wobble also make sure rear tire is in alignment after adjusting. if the rear shocks are set too soft, can cause that as well, These are all adjustments I made on a older H.D. sportster to eliminate wobble. maybe it would work for you.? The new 1100 T model is very interesting, fuel tank could be a little larger as well. Sounds like a purchase of extended warranty might be needed too, Since I think Honda only give a 1 year warranty. Best review I have seen so far on the Honda Rebel 1100 , Thankyou for taking the time to do it !!!
Thank you for your kind words! 🙏 I agree with you, I got the extended warranty right from the beginning, headache free ownership for 6 years. I did see a brace, I don't think it is available in the states yet. My high speed wobble went away when I stiffened my rear shocks and changed tires like you mentioned! Thank you for your valuable feedback! 🙏
Thank you!!! This bike was made for shorter people! one of the very few bikes out there for shorter riders! 25,000 miles in, and i'm still in love and investing in upgraded components.
hey buddy, welcome back. I was wonder if you stop doing videos 😆. I just bought my rebel on 11/4 and love the few miles (+200) I put here in Denver, already purchased a lot of accessories which I recommend you: The T-Rex center stand (got it today installed), The T-Rex headlight guard and the Coffman's shorty black out version. Everything else you already have: windscreen, saddlebags, heated handles etc.... I'm glad you got a nice weather; we are having right now the Antarctic storm "no bueno". See ya around and bring more videos please :) don't forget the high heel lady 👠 LOL
LMAO I'll let her know that she is missed! Congratulations Julio, The timing isn't ideal but it will give you plenty of time to touch her in all the right places, if you want her to be happy, get her red shoes, she'll love you!! LOL Can't wait to hear about your journey brother! that storm will be here tomorrow.....
Hi Christian! That's a tough one brother. Just be honest with yourself about what you want, let it be an emotional decision so that you don't regret getting something that might be better on paper but your heart is somewhere else. Compare what turns you off between the two rather than what you like about them. If you are able to overlook brand loyalty, the decision will come to you, sleep on it.
That was a great video covering so much! I've never had a wobble, even up to 100... could be a combination of things. I also love the really big Batwing Fairing from Memphis Shades, its great for doing tons of miles, or in the cold. I'm glad I never had any of those issues you listed. I added tons of lights and hooked up a wireless charger for my phone... and added a front and rear camera to record all the time on the bike, and guess i didn't mess up the electrical doing it, even though I made it all up as I went and spliced into things as guesses... 20,000 miles and it still working. Only thing i hate on my bike is the stupid chain... really wish it had a belt or shaft or something i didn't have to clean, lube, and tension so much.
to be clear. - I mean the the small one about 13 minutes into this video - I clicked on the viking link and see a different one. you're definitely the accessory king!

Great review Gustav, as a fellow 1100 DCT owner can only fully endorse your comments on use of the DCT, if you want to go for it in the curves use manual, DCT for a chilled ride or coping with traffic congestion. I'm now 67, been riding since 17, but for me now this bike offers more than enough performance, looks great, handles really well and so far ultra reliable. Only thing I disagree on, forward controls. I went for the De Pretto Moto set and with arthritic hips, a game changer, tried highway pegs on crash bars but didn't work for me but that is personal ergonomics.
Thank you Derek! 🙏 I had the opportunity to ride a friend's rebel with forward controls, I think I have issues because I have short legs.... Regarding the hip, surprisingly the Corbin seat helped since it raised me up a little!
Excellent video, guidance and explanation clear and to the point with clear demonstrations. Just hope other people cosidering making an instructional/guidance video follow your wonderful example. Opinions about your choices are all just that.......opinions..........!!!!!! You clearly made your judgements on sound, analytical experience and are therefore correct for you. Safe enjoyable riding.......
Great video as per usual.👏 Had exactly the same idea about a pannier/s on the sissy bar. You beat me to it. But have to disagree with the riding hard in automatic mode… I actually find it works pretty well. I’m full on power, minimum or off on T, min on EB and max on shifting. And as soon at it is twisty and I go hard it holds the gears really well. Only thing is that when I brake moderately hard into turns it wants second when often third would be my choice. Just my 25 cents.
Hi Bjarke! Good to hear from you brother! Thank you for sharing regarding the panniers on the sissy bar! I can't believe how well it works tbh! And it's so convenient too! The DCT is amazing no doubt! Thank you for your kind words sir! 🙏 Please share once you have the panniers on the saddlebags
@@bjarkebechfeldt3684 WOW! Thank you for sharing that Bjarke! I'm glad to hear you are not disappointed! the same thing happened to me, if i can help it, i don't think i'll ever own a manual bike again, except if i get a small adventure bike like the XT 250 for a little off road fun. Have you thought of a way to connect the carrier to the sissy bar? i am trying to come up with a way that will allow me to attach it and remove it easily, the 2 options i'm considering is to fabricate and weld a bracket to the slc carrier and use the 2 backrest screws to attach it to the sissy bar. The second option is to use swivel pipe clamps if i can find the right ones for cheap. but in all honesty, the zip ties are rock solid!
Fantastic, complete, honest review. Thank You so much for your work putting this together. I'll be getting one of these to park beside my Versys 650 so I can pick a mood for riding. Best review on this Rebel 1100 on RUclips
Superb review and video. The geometry of the loox is a bit odd where the frame rides up to the to the front. That said looking at the engine which is quite tall that's probably why. I'm also 5'7" so the low seat is a definite positive for me. P.S nice roads you were riding.
Thank you Simon! That's very kind of you man! Yes, I agree, the way the tank rises was a turn off for me when I first saw the bike, but in person it looks very different, sexy even! We are a similar height, hopefully you can see what the will look like with you on it from the riding section at the beginning, I tried to record me on the bike so people can see a 5'7 average build guy on the bike, it's a perfect fit tbh
Hi Simon! Thank you brother! 🙏 Congratulations on hitting 4k! As it's pretty obvious, I love the bike more now than when I was at 4k! Who would've thought?! My dumbass thought i was settling on the rebel.... I'm proud of myself for keeping an open mind 🤣 (former sportbike rider)
If there is speed wobble, check to see if you are supposed to have some steering head bearing preload. On my old BMW, whe you have the front wheels off the ground, you check to see if the steering head bearnings have worn, by looking for a worn notch type condition when you turn the wheel left and right. If the bearing races have word a slight valley in them, you will feel the notch. It it turns smooth the same from left to right, without the notch in the middle, then you look for a slight resistance in turning left to right. The front wheel should not just flop over 'till it clangs against the stops. There is supposed to be some resistance. To adjust that you turn the adjustment wheel on top of the steering head. I believe when this is set right, it might alleviate some slight front wheel wobble at speed due to worn tires or whatever else. If you feel a notched condition, Do Not Tighten The Steering Head Bearing Preload. Replace the bearings and races.
Hi Ray! You are correct, Head bearings could definitely cause this, however in my case it is a result of the sag, the stock suspension sucks, i have recently upgraded my rear shocks to ohlins and the bike is solid as a rock at 100 mph, i recommend that you watch that video to see the high speed testing.
Very good observation on source of whistle at speed over 40 mph. I would offer this, and I hope it's not TMI, that, having tried various windscreens, I realized it often can take a lot of trial and error to locate noise sources. In general, the higher the pitch the sharper the edge or groove that it's generated by. So if your aftermarket screen or fairing has sharp edges try filing (or filling as you did) to smooth airflow. Cockpit turbulence can also affect noise. Your jacket, helmet, etc, can be sources of noise also.
Kudos to you, excellent video and I echo all of the things you said in praise about this motorcycle (DCT). 17,000 miles and you can hear the giddy glee in your voice at the end of the video when you are ripping gears in the twisties. I have 3900 miles on my 22 DCT and have had zero issues with it, literally zero. I will watch out for things you listed (much appreciated). I'm with you on trying to find another bike to add, and honestly I'd probably end up going for a Africa Twin DCT (this engine is too good, DCT of course, and Honda reliability), but my hope is that Honda releases a scrambler version of the rebel with the 1100 in it like they did with the 500. I appreciate what you do, the time you have spent, and the advice you give. Thanks and Happy Holidays!
Thank you man!! You heard correctly, I'm still smiling from ear to ear every single time i ride man! it's unreal! In my head, i have bought the Africa twin at least 10 times, the NC 750 X at least 50 times, and the NT 1100 at least 75 times! My issue is that i'm short and tired of dropping bikes tbh.... i keep going round in circles and when reasoning brings me back to the Rebel, i fall in love all over again! LOL the other part is that these bikes will look butt ugly when lowered..... I'm nowhere near getting bored with the rebel yet, just eager to see what the future models will be like. Happy holidays brother!!!!
Thanks for your review. It gave me some good ideas to try. I bought my Rebel in early November only has 1k now love the DCT due to tendinitis and arthritis, but the shift timing is harsh at times. I’m going to try the manual button and a little more comfortable seat is in the near future. I went with the Memphis Shade Batwing for me it has been a great investment.
Hi Gary! Congratulations man! Yes sir, with a little adjustment to make the bike fit you, it becomes amazing! Had I not sorted the seat, and reach to the bars, I would have sold the bike as the pain was unbearable for my awkward dimensions 🤣

@@ontherebel11 I'm likewise compelled to be as honest in my comment as well.. Thank you for your effort...Helps a lot in my decision to choose between the rebel and the triumph bobber...
@@hafo1979 wow, that is quite a difficult decision to make! Thank you for sharing that! I went through a similar situation back in 2020 when I was researching bikes and the rebel wasn't even on the list! But things happen for a reason and I don't think I would have been as happy as I am right now with any other bike! I was comparing the Indian scout bobber and Vulcan, as well as many others lol. I just got back from a 3,000 mile trip and crossed 22,000 miles on the clock, nothing comes close to the rebel in terms of performance in this segment.
This is probably the BEST review I have ever seen of a motorbike - Thankyou!
Thank you Ted, I appreciate your kind words sir! 🙏

Congratulations man! I'm so happy to hear that, how do you like it and what mods have you planned for it already? 🤙

Hi Greg! Thank you very much for your kind feedback, I sincerely appreciate it! 🙏

It might be a little expensive because everything has to be done and welded by hand, I appreciate it because watching the welding process is like watching an artist, it is very difficult!

(I have to wait until my financial manager (wife) approves it though.) haha
Thank you again. You have allowed me to get more out of my bike and optimize its enjoyability.
Peace, brother. Eric

That seems like a lot of problems. Thank you for being so in depth.
LOL
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions that i didn't cover in the video.

So far no problems and my tires are still look good.
It's interesting about the vibration. I never had it ,but now I now why.
I adjusted my rear socks the same way you did.
On the end of the first ride
and didn't go faster than 60 miles hour.
They are $275.00
One more funny thing. I ride my bike with the cruise control exactly the same way you are doing it.
By the way I'm always in the manual mode custom sporty setting by me.
I just love to pull that trigger all the time.
I wanted to trade it for
Something else, but just couldn't do it.
I think I'm going to get the same tires you recommended when I need
them. I also got an air seat cover. a better horn a cool
GPS and soft grips and still love the bike.
Fabulous, thorough review.
Thank you Norm! 🙏
I like how you present the bike as an longterm owner, hoping I can find a presenter like you of the small brother of this bike the honda rebel 500.
Thank you Name Less! 👍
Incredible video, well done and we thank you.
Thank you Aramis7, I really appreciate it! 🙏

Thank you.
Thank you George! I really appreciate it! 🙏 I've definitely grown to love the DCT!
currently own a 2018 NC 750 X DCT but now especially after viewing this video I really want to add a Rebel DCT for touring (longer rides).

@@az57man65 Excellent, enjoy the journey, with every little mod, you and the bike will become one!👍
Great in-depth review. Good job!

I agree with you, I got the extended warranty right from the beginning, headache free ownership for 6 years.
I did see a brace, I don't think it is available in the states yet. My high speed wobble went away when I stiffened my rear shocks and changed tires like you mentioned! Thank you for your valuable feedback! 🙏

Thanks for this review. Actually indecisive about the H-D Nightster and the rebel 1100t DCT.
Awesome review mate, incredibly complete! Keep the good content.
Thank you Douglas! Really appreciate it man! 🙏
Aya!! It's so good to hear from you!! Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us, 20,000 miles! WOW!!!!

Thank you so much George!! I'm a little anxious about that project but i really want to learn how to do it!!!
Thank you for your comprehensive overview, really appreciate your depth of knowledge.

Great video as per usual.👏
Had exactly the same idea about a pannier/s on the sissy bar.
You beat me to it.
But have to disagree with the riding hard in automatic mode…
I actually find it works pretty well.

Oh, should have mentioned: You were actually THE reason I gave the dct a chance - and never looked back.👍
@@bjarkebechfeldt3684 WOW!

Perfect review from start to finish well done my friend , subbed and liked .

Thank you for your insight Mike, this will help others in identifying the source, much appreciated brother! 🤙
LOL
the other part is that these bikes will look butt ugly when lowered.....
