Hi Gus, another great video:):):). Before I have seen the last part of your video I was wondering why to change it......... But definitelly good idea. I also remember on my Rebel I had so "soft" brakes. I totally agree with you. When I saw your video I went to check what hoses do I have on my bike and I have reinforced ones so this problem is already solved for me :). I have one comment - I saw nice metal surface of your new hoses, which really looks great. But If I would do that on my bike I would bend those part, which goes above your front fender by electric tape or maybe heat shrinking electrician protection becouse I think those metal surface will not be so friendly to surface of fender....... I do not know if I saw that correctly, but I saw there touch....Other parts are fine and it looks amazing..... Perfect video, better than producers manual :)

11:14 do you have anyyy idea what size washers these are? OEM replacements are $5 each 😂 Can’t find it in the service manual or any videos on the brake line extension etc
Hi There, i don't know the exact measurements as i haven't measured one personally, but you should search for banjo bolt washers, they might be 10mm, but i'm not sure. If i get a chance to measure one, i'll share it with you.
@@ontherebel11 As per usual you’re just so awesome! No worries if you don’t get to it. Preliminary research tells me 10mm too so I’ll get an assortment or measure. Thanks Gus!
@topherlions714 I'm glad to hear that brother, but just in case I didn't mention it, if you decide to replace the top line from Spiegler, they'll include the washers in the packaging 👍
Hi Gus, aren't the OEM brake lines braided stainless steel under the rubber? I bought new break lines for my Valkyrie and they are braded stainless mesh under the rubber housing. This keeps dirt an grime from accumulating on the line. By the way, the old brake lines on my Valkyrie are 27 years old with no cracks in the rubber and no leaks. I just bought new ones for no real reason besides, just in case. I suppose that if you want the aesthetics of the exposed stainless mesh, that is fine but grime accumulation may be an issue.
@@ontherebel11 Granted, the Valkyrie is in a league of it's own. However, the only thing similar to the Gold Wing is the block and gear box. The Valkyrie has "full raise" cams, solid lifters, six carbs vs 2, different rear gear box and on and on. However, regarding the brake lines on the Rebel, after you change them out, could you cut one open to see for sure it is not braided? To me, it only makes sense to have braided brake lines for the extra reinforcement so as to handle the extreme pressure of emergency braking.
@@jamescampolo7824 Hi James, sure thing brother, if you go to 1:46 minute in the video, you will see a demonstration of me cutting through the oem lines. You and i think alike, i also was very curious and wanted to see the cross section.🍻
@@ontherebel11 The replacement brake lines I got for the Valkyrie are genaric. I just bought lines that were pre made with the banjo ends that were the correct lines with a "T" for dual calipers. These lines are rubber clad stainless braid. I would think that lines with exposed braid would a pain to keep clean, especially if you ride in all weather. If you ride it like a Harley (back it out of the garage, look at it and put it back in) it wouldn't be a problem.
@jamescampolo7824 hi James, it's probably not easy to see in the video, the steel braids are covered by a clear plastic material, they'll never get dirty, just wipe them clean, the metal isn't exposed 🤙
Hi Gus, the front brake on my Rebel isn't spongy like in your demo. I wonder if you have an air bubble somewhere. You may never know since you have replaced all of the brake fluid.
Hi James, if you squeeze your brake lever hard enough, you will see the same results as mine. I assure you that i replace and bleed my brakes often and they are at their best, but that's just it, that's their best, Clearly they work and have been working for 4 years, they've served me well for 32,000 miles, i've even taken the bike on the track with the OEM brakes. The steel braided lines are an improvement, the illustrations in the video are to have a visual reference for riders that may not know these things.
@@ontherebel11 Your bike cannot be older than three years. 2024-2021=3. Anyway, changing your brake fluid as often as you say always leaves the possibility of leaving an air bubble either in the master, caliper or line. Do you "tap" on the master or caliper as you are doing the bleed? There is always a possibility of leaving small bubbles sticking to these due to surface tension.
I noticed it looks like you have multiple risers on your bars in this video. Or is that just a 4 inch risers? By the way, great videos you have been a big help.

Do you have the measurement for the stock brake hose? I’m looking to replace mine with Hel branded steel brake hoses but I can’t seem to find the stock brake hose length.
The bleeding procedure you use here is the same as on a non-ABS brake system. Don't you have to do something different to make sure there aren't air bubbles in the line to the ABS modulator?

Hi Gus, I agree with you to a large extent in your opinion, but your claim that the brake hose is only made of rubber is not true. The fact that you can cut the 'old brake hose' with the knife is because the hose is reinforced with Teflon and Kevlar to keep the hose flexible. A brake hose cannot age that much in 3, 4 years. If you can squeeze your brake lever so far that it almost touches your handlebars, then it is time to bleed the whole thing, because then something is really wrong. With all due respect, but I do not think Honda will install brake lines that are not safe. If you only look at the appearance, it is fun to install colored hoses or whatever, but do not claim that the hoses are already worn out after a few years.
