    Great to see another one of your awesome videos! Those were breathtaking views and the entire ride was very scenic. In my opinion the tires might require a longer break in period! The cruise control not working properly is a little disconcerting to me, but ultimately it just seemed like a temporary glitch. Thank you for another awesome video, see you on the next one. 🏍️💨 👍🏾

      Thanks bro, I appreciate your encouraging words man! In the 3 years I've had the bike, this was the only time I've experienced the cruise control doing that, I'm glad it was caught on camera so we can possibly learn what cause it, right before the light went out, the rpms dipped ever so slightly, hard to hear it, maybe that was what caused a dip in voltage, I'll keep an eye on it and will report everything I learn about it 🤙

      Thank you Frank!! In my experience and riding style, i prefer the cruistectecs and will be going back to them asap. The cruisetecs felt better in the rain and cold and also felt more comfortable in my experience, the dragon carcass is a bit too stiff. When the night dragons are still cold on a warm day, i often see the traction control light flashing under moderate acceleration, i didn't experience that with the cruistecs in the dead of winter with temps in the 30s under much harder acceleration. This could be because i have the night dragon GT on the rear which would imply a harder compound, regardless, from this end user's experience i prefer the cruistecs as i have more confidence in them when it matters most.

    Thank you for your insightful videos my friend.
    I wonder if the buzzing could also be attributed to the new parts you installed, wheel bearings, chain, etc.
    That plus the new tires have mave made a lot of small changes (surely all for the better).
    It may just be a condition of all these things having to "get used to " each other.
    It will be interesting to get your thoughts after a 1,000 miles or so.

    Hi. Been watching your channel for lots of tips, very helpful and I thank you very much as your videos help people like me who owns an 1100. Any update on the night dragon tires? How is it in the wet? Where I'm from it's the only 1 available aside from stock Dunlops and been holding off pulling the trigger to put this night dragons on

    • @ontherebel11
      @ontherebel11  4 месяца назад +1

      Hi there!! Great question as i have finally made my mind up! I recently rode in the rain for an extended period of time, and relative to the cruistecs, the night dragons felt less grippy, meaning i would lose traction much sooner than i did with the Metzeler cruisetecs, I am aggressive in my riding as i am always testing the limits of my gear and equipment, understanding and knowing the limits helps keep me safe. The dragons also lost traction much sooner in cold temps below 50 degrees, it caught me off guard at first, but after repeated tests, the dragons don't like the cold. Based on switching directly from the cruisetecs to the dragons, my personal choice will be the cruistecs, so i will be going back to the metzelers very soon. This is subjective, and also keep in mind that the rear dragon that i have is a GT, so it might be a harder less grippy compound.... regardless, i will be going to the cruisetecs - they gave me confidence in any condition, almost too good to be true tbh. if you've followed along long enough you know that i took many trips in freezing cold rainy conditions to very far away places and with the tires having 14,000 miles on them , i then took them to the track where i rode at the limits of the bike. I have no dog in this fight - both tires are made by the same company as pirrelli owns metzeler, i paid my own money for them, the only thing i care about is having the best tires, brakes and suspension available for my bike as i view these as safety items - cost is not a factor when i get these items. Long story short, i will be getting the metzeler cruistecs all day long.

      Thank you very much for your reply, I really appreciate it. I was trying to get Metzelers cruisetecs here in the Philippines but really is not available. I’m pretty sure that’s the same set of twisties that you shared video of a while ago. Interesting to see the difference between you taking it easy on the night dragons versus getting after it on the cruisetechs. I know you were intentionally taking it easy on the new tires this time.

    • @ontherebel11
      @ontherebel11  Год назад +1

      I'm glad you caught that! I deliberately took the exact same route I took when I test rode the cruisetecs, it made sense to do that since I have the original video to refresh my memory. Took the exact route a second time on the dragons last weekend, the turn in characteristics are definitely different, the dragons seem to turn a tighter radius, a more sporty feeling (not sure the average rider will like that feeling). I experimented with the suspension to try and get a better feeling. The dragons are very stiff so softening the rear suspension helped in reducing the bounce I was feeling. The buzz is still there and it's definitely the tires and not the new chain and sprockets. I have about 300 miles on them, hoping to put 1,000 fairly quickly. I still feel that for the average rider the cruisetecs are a better choice. Fyi, I didn't feel a wobble at high speed when my rear preload was at 18 clicks, but dropping it to 14 clicks it came back slightly.

    • @SuperChonus
      @SuperChonus Год назад

      Thanks for the added detail. Interesting to hear about the new buzz/vibration you're feeling. I hate feeling vibration through my handlebars. I have issues with my wrists, and I spent a lot of time and energy fixing that issue on a previous Yamaha FJ 1200 and my current Yamaha FJ09. I also installed a Magura hydraulic clutch system on the FJ09 to lighten the clutch pull because of wrist pain and that is another reason I'm looking at the Rebel DCT. I'm curious to know your thoughts on the Night Dragons once you’ve passed 1,000 miles.
      Your description of “turn a tighter radius” and “ more sporty feeling” sounds good to me, but if you have to sacrifice high-speed stability that requires sub-optimal rear suspension settings to correct, I can see that’s not ideal. You seem to make the stock suspension work just fine, but have you ever considered throwing some Penske shocks on the rear? shop.penskeshocks.com/collections/rear-shocks-cruiser-motorcycle/products/8900-single-adjustable They offer a 13” length, and I think they would be a direct bolt-on, but I’m not sure. Of course, they’re not cheap.
      It seems you could ride as hard as you wanted with the Cruistecs and were touching pegs before reaching the limit of those tires, but…”Pirelli Night Dragon” sounds more badass than Cruistecs :)

      I was wondering the same thing. I wondered if the vibrating could be from the new chain? Did the vibrating ever stop. Nice video, I'm most likely going to be getting some night dragons for my vmax 1700. There is not a lot of tire choices for the size tires mine takes. Cruise techs are not an option for my bike.

    • @ontherebel11
      @ontherebel11  4 месяца назад

      @bplaizier1 thank you! It wasn't a vibration, it was the tread pattern creating a buzz, similar to the buzz heard on adventure bikes with off-road capable tires. It did get better, I don't feel it or hear it anymore. I will be going back to the cruisetecs though. 👍

      Is that to do with the carbon filter dumping fumes into the throttle body on start up? I sometimes have issues if I start up too soon after switching off when the bike is hot and the valve still opens and dumps fuel vapours into the engine causing the bike to over rev when I try to slow manouver.

    Have you had the cruise control issue happen again? I had it happen almost daily during winter here in Aus and could not work it out for the life of me. Now that the temperature is picking up its only happened once or twice so I’ve put it down to a temperature thing but it really puzzles me.
    Simply turning the bike off and on again fixes it so it could be a voltage thing too. But would really love to know what’s going on. Honda themselves couldn’t find it either.
