Remove Snaps and Install Firefox as a DEB in Lubuntu (and Ubuntu-based distros).
Просмотров 7 тыс.2 года назад
A hot debate in the Linux realm is around the 'forced' use of Snaps in Ubuntu. Snaps do have many benefits such as sandboxing and not requiring your system to have all the dependencies required to be already be installed. Quick question on Oh My Zsh! I installed it BEFORE deciding I might also want iTerm2. All guidance says install iTerm2 FIRST. Would everything still work if iTerm2 is installed AFTER Oh My Zsh? Or should one uninstall Oh My Zsh and start over...because of possible dependencies or configuration issues?
@readwriter You shouldn't have to uninstall Oh My Zsh before installing iTerm2. iTerm2 is a terminal emulator that can work alongside Oh My Zsh without any conflicts. Oh My Zsh is a framework for managing your Zsh configuration, which works with any Zsh-compatible terminal, including iTerm2. Hope this helps.
@ Thank you for the help! - Follow up question will be under your previous video!
@@readwriter I've actually removed the previous video on Oh My Zsh. I had made a mistake in the video saying to edit the ~/.zshrc file using sudo which would've changed the ownership of the config file to the root. A community member let me know I'd done so. So rather than have incorrect info uploaded, I'll redo the video sometime in the future. Cheers!
Sweet. Don't have macOS right now, but I've been back to your MX Linux live USB series several times and have made several installs for myself and friends over the past 10 months. It's been awesome.
@solanaceae2069 That's great to hear, it's great knowing my videos have helped you and your friends! I have some new Linux videos in the pipeline so hopefully I'll have those uploaded soon (when I get the time). Cheers!

why we need to uninstall gnome to install rclone??
@gadingrizani4642 That portion of the video continues on from the previous video (ruclips.net/video/T5qqR1yuC5Q/видео.html) where I installed the Gome Online Accounts app. If you didn't watch that video then ignore the uninstall Gnome part and go straight to the 'Install Rclone' chapter: ruclips.net/video/ff8Ogk8NIPU/видео.htmlsi=jf3yuEs7wxelfogq&t=229
thanks, this method helped me on linux mint actually :V
I currently have this issue cause I upgraded my unsupported Mac to Sonoma and I faced connectivity issues. Now, I want to come back to Monterey but I can't connect to the Internet once the PC is fully on but can connect when I press "shift + options + command". How do I go about it? I mean the demotion in the upgrade.
@FatimahKutashi-f6x You might need to get a USB stick and create a bootable installer of Monterey so you can downgrade.
@@StaempunkTV Okay thanks!
Why are you gae?
Gets error during "starting internet recovery with Globe sign".... the only thing works with my MacBook is the "OPTION" key, it lists up all connected disk but clicking on it doesn't work... no sound when the apple Logo appears.... It doesn't shtus down completely, the Apple logo goes and comes without loading... any advice what to do, or what is wrong with it,,,, Recovery and Safe Mode don't work either,
Bootable disk recovery doesn't help, cause clicking on it goes back to the Apple Logo
@Steinar_kristiansen It might be a hardware issue. My advice would be to try changing the hard drive first and while you're at it, make sure your RAM is mounted properly (I've experienced that issue before). Are you connected to the internet using an ethernet cable?
I had tried to install MX Linux on my PC in dual boot with Windows without success. With your guide I did it, following your suggestions step by step. Thank you very much for your work and congratulations! 🙂
@diegocappelletto3573 Cheers!
0:23 - I'm using right now Lubuntu 24.04.1 Noble Numbat on a Macbook Pro 7,1 (mid-2010) and I don't have this "Muon Package Manager" installed. So what I did was to open the Terminal (QTerminal) using the Ctrl + Alt + T shortcut and typed: sudo apt install pommed After saying yes, it installed 4 packages and the keyboard backlights lighted up right after install, so I didn't even need to reebot. Thank you for the video! 😉👍🏼
@carlosbarreto4695 Nice one! I too have noticed that the Muon Package Manager isn't preinstalled now. The Synaptic Package Manager can be installed and used instead. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I'm trying to run Resolve on a new Asus Tufbook with AMD 7700 Radeon GPU and MX Linux 23 with Xfce 4. All the dependencies installed, and Resolve loads up but doesn't see either the built in or additional GPU. Any suggestions? It works fine on Windows 11.
Stæmpunk TV, I installed the "MX 23.4 Libretto" version in my notebook, and you are right, I found very difficult to resize a window. It is indeed almost impossible to find a window corner with a touchpad. I didn't have a similar problem with Linux Mint Xfce. So your suggestion at 29:04 was lifesaver, I must thank you very much, you are indeed very knowledgeable.
Thank you for this video!! If anyone is having trouble with libssl1.1, install libssl3 instead
is there a way to automate the two sync tasks rather than having to press the run button every single time?
When you click on the config button in the rclone browser, nothing happens. What to do?

@keithconti9666 I agree, I don't use it as my main browser because of its incompatibility with Windows and Linux which I also use. But it's fine for setting up macOS.
I have some questions, in the minute 30, you put in blank where the word ESP was, why this is necesary? (sorry if my english is not very good), then in the minute 31:52 for default take de EFI of the wndows and you change for me external disk EFI, it es clear to me, but in distro like Ubuntu, always take the Windows EFI, I understand that in MX there is nor this issue right?. I understan that this metod is the same if I have two ssd and I want install MX-Linux in the second is it right too?. Thanks in advance for your answers
@jlom48 Hi, at 30mins I put a blank everywhere except the external HDD where MX is being installed. That way the external HDD is bootable on different computers because it has the grub bootloader. If you are installing MX onto an internal HDD, you can use the main ESP bootloader.
Congratulations!, very good video, clear, simple, very good tips too, thanks
@jlom48 Thank you so much for the kind words, I'm glad you found the video helpful!
It is now Dec 2024. It worked for my BCM4318 by following your steps. Since the BROADCOM WIRELESS TABLE was updated on July 29, 2024, the commends changed slightly. Use 'sudo apt install firmware-b43-installer', and 'sudo apt install linux-firmware' to complete the installation for Ubuntu 20.04. Thank you!
very good. thanks
This seems to replicate the functionality of Google's own desktop drive app. Could you expand on why this rclone solution is relevant?
@dba2-js7mj Rclone is useful for Linux users because Google's native drive app doesn't work in Linux. Thanks for your comment!

I can’t access the laptop through Apple becuase I had signed out the Apple ID before I deleted what ever I deleted I suppose the drive and the OS won’t let me internet recover, flashing file with question mark. MacBook Air 2017
@memedaily5653 It sounds like you're in a tricky spot. Are you using an ethernet cable? I've never had much luck recovering while WiFi. Can you sign into your Apple ID online? You should hopefully still have your MacBook in iCloud or Apple ID and you could remove it from there.
Thank You So Much It Worked For Me❤
Just revisited this video for the info on theming after reinstalling Antix 23.2. Really helpful for getting round this complex but brilliant distro.
Now this is what i'm talking about! A viewer request is done and uploaded fast. My man ! A like is too little to appreciate the work you do for "us" !
Cool
Thanks mate for producing a good tutorial video. I like your desktop theme when youre creating the antix usb media. What linux OS is that and how did you configure the theme? Is there a ready made linux distro ISO for that?
@noelespinas7258 Thanks for the cool comment. The linux distro (OS) in the video is MX Linux 21 using the XFCE desktop environment (I currently use MX Linux 23 XFCE). I love it because it is so stable and fast and highly configurable but also works amazingly right out of the box. I made a settings configuration video for MX 21: ruclips.net/video/EO7yd5yWN7c/видео.htmlsi=gGmHtzdCg9MvA1nt as well as a theming video that follows on from the configuration video: ruclips.net/video/80YHVuv-eVs/видео.htmlsi=NgMRWGew6IMVA-S3
Hi, can you downgrade a new Mac Mini M4 with Sequoia to Sonoma?
@PhilipClark Hey! This page will let you know if your Mac is compatible with Sonoma: support.apple.com/en-us/105113 Incidentally, I'm about to post a video showing how to downgrade from Sonoma to Monterey and the process is probably the same or very similar for downgrading from Sequoia to Sonoma.
@PhillipClark Here's a link to the downgrade video: ruclips.net/video/VbL01l9eAeU/видео.html Hope it helps.
@@StaempunkTV Thank you for replying! It doesn't look like the M4 Minis are compatible with Sonoma. But thank you.
@StaempunkTV Thank you for you well done video, but I have reinstall Ventura three times and so far every time after 1 or 2 days of putting my usual software back, the same problem is persisting. I am have MacBook 12inches, 1.4 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i7, Intel HD Graphics 615 1536 MB, 16 GB 1867 MHz LPDDR3 (2017 version) Any tips that could be helpful to me? Should I go back to Monterey ? if so, any helps is appreciated. Thank you for your time
@peterpengkai7163 It's difficult for me to diagnose without seeing your computer. Is the issue only happening with Ventura but not Monterey? It could be anything from a corrupted hard drive or RAM or even motherboard. What software are you installing?
@@StaempunkTV Hello, and thank you for replying to me. I had Ventura that I reinstalled twice, but I went back to Big Sur and same problem and it was locked in interrogation, so I downgraded to High Sierra, It started a couple of times, but then back to the interrogation symbol with a folder. Even now the internal SSD is not visible in the Disc Utility. I have ran a code inside the Terminal chat but the 512 ssd is not showing (macbook 2017 16gb ram) I bought it second hand 7 months ago.
@peterpengkai7163 If your SSD isn't showing up I would venture to guess that's the culprit. They're usually pretty easy to replace. If you plug in an external hard drive does it show up in Disc Utility?
@@StaempunkTV Thank you very much, your suggestion was good, I inserted a usb and it was visible, I inserted 1TB Seagate hard-disk and after a while, the internal disk (apple APFSMedia 499.96 uninitialized) is visible or showing again. my question, if I may, what should I do know now ? install High sierra again ? or still try to change the Culprit ? one of the time the system was asking me to do the Guid Partition Table Scheme, but I was not able to do it since the Hard-Disk was not visible, now maybe i can try .
I should have had this dude as a IT teacher.... So calm, with so much info and still i understood everything at once! No video pause no nothing
@NavisV Cheers, I love hearing feedback like this!
This is a great video and very helpful. Thank you. However, it would have been nice if you showed the bookmarks menu functionality, as I am one of those people that have hundreds of bookmarks in dozens of folders. It wouldn't suit me to add them as tags. I'd never remember what to search in the search box.
@FederationOfLight Thanks for the helpful feedback. I will endeavour to demo software post configuration more in the future. Cheers!
@@StaempunkTV No worries. FYI: I have subsequently installed this, and found that it simply populates the bookmarks toolbar without an issue. I also tested adding a bookmark and it added to the other computer just fine as well. It's a great tool. Anyways, thanks for the video. It was very well made and helpful.
@FederationOfLight Awesome, thanks for the feedback. I should mention though that xBrowserSync hasn't been updated since 2020 so that is worth consideration. These days I use Raindrop.io for cross browser bookmark management. I'll be doing a video on that sometime soon. Cheers!

dose it work on chrome
@Jinnbi I personally haven't used Chrome OS but on doing a search online I found this: "While Rclone can work in Chrome OS, it may require additional setup and configuration to access the mounted filesystem or use the GUI. Users may need to enable debug mode or use the web-based GUI to interact with Rclone".
@@StaempunkTV ok thanks for the help
Could you make a tutorial where you show how to make a persistent antix USB as well as how to use / maintain it (ie installing updates, running remaster afterwards, deleting the .old files / cleanup etc)? There seem to be a lot of smaller fragmented tutorials on the subject but no big cohesive crash course type videos like this video.
@someuser4166 I'm pretty sure @runwiththedolphin (one of antiX's devs) has made videos on persistent antix usb management. Perhaps check out his RUclips channel or the antiX forum. If I can find the time I could look into creating a video but I'm pretty time restricted with work and life atm. Thanks!
