  • In this video, I'll show you how synchronise your Google Drive in your Debian or Ubuntu based Linux file browser using Rclone and the graphical user interface application, Rclone Browser.
This will enable you to have copies of your Google Drive files on your computer and you'll be able to sync your computer with your Google Drive easily.
I’ll be doing this beginner-friendly walkthrough in MX Linux 21 XFCE but you should still be able to easily follow along regardless of the operating system you use.
    IMPORTANT!
Removing the Gnome-Control-Center in Ubuntu or Ubuntu-based systems will also uninstall Ubuntu-Settings.

Thank you, it is a great resource. I wanted to sync a local folder to a shared folder on Google Drive and use the local fodler as a vault in Obisidian. This is exactly what I needed: it's free, you can pull the remote vault and you can push your updates, then everything is visible on other devices synced to the GD as well.
A note: it might go without saying, but I was rather puzzled for the first time. If you want to use this to have a local, persisted copy of your GD folder, you only want to create the download and upload tasks. You definitely don't want to mount the remote folder to your local one. Otherwise, your "local files" are going to be gone upon restart.

    One question that wasn't addressed:
How can I automate the tasks? In an ideal world I wouldn't want to manually execute the Sync Download/Upload tasks in order to sync my offline folder. Can this be automated to run every X minutes when I'm connected to a wifi?

    PS.
You would know better than I do, but I would personally avoid (what appears to me to be) somewhat unvetted github forks. Rclone browser as vetted and approved by debian community pulls straight through apt, and I was able to do everything you described in this video on whatever that stock version is.
