Great video, one more thing, when you work on a file in this folder it takes forever to respond because it is editing the file on google drive in the cloud. Is there a way that you can work on the files locally then sync later with google drive? thanks
Thanks! I use a shared computer. Is there a way to only sync the calendar and not everything else like photos, contacts, and Google drive etc? or does everything Google sync?
Yes there is. If you use Thunderbird email client you jan sync just the calendars. However this video was just for Google Drive. This post should help you a1websitepro.com/sync-your-google-calendar-and-tasks-in-thunderbird/
I have linux mint xfce and it doesn't work "sudo apt-get install gnome-online-accounts Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree... Done Reading state information... Done gnome-online-accounts is already the newest version (3.44.0+mint1+vanessa). 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded." It shows me this, but when i search for the program, it doesn't exist. I have updated yet.
It is only syncing files from "My Drive". But if I have specific folders synced up from my Windows 11 machine like dokuments, pictures and videos which are stored under "Computers" i don't see a possibility to access them in any way. Even when I have Insync installed I am not able to choose the specific folders which I syncronised from Windows to Google Drive. Do you have a solution for this?
@@MaximusMcCullough Maximus, I have the same question / issue as Nikjas L. I sync a Windows 10 PC to my Google Drive. The folders from my PC that I sync are placed in a "folder" on my Drive called ¨Computers -> My Computer". The same as you can see in your other youtube coverage ruclips.net/video/flMe2LQtHWs/видео.html on the left of the screen. That "folder" is not accessible / visible on my Ubuntu online account. There I only see "My Drive" and "Shared with me", but no "Computers".
@@gerritlasker3692 Ahh thats an interesting problem. It makes me thing that Windows is setting private permissions on the files that it syncs with Google drive, no? If that is the case then the sharing permissions will have to be set before it is synced I would think?
struggling with this. I added my google drive, can open it in the file browser and see all my documents, but when I click on any of them, instead of opening the document it opens my mail client (thunderbird).
It sounds like your computer may be configured to open documents in your email client by default, instead of the application that is associated with that document type. To fix this issue, you can try the following steps: Right-click on the document that you want to open and select "Open With" from the drop-down menu. Choose the application that you want to use to open the document (e.g. Microsoft Word, Google Docs, etc.). If the application you want to use is not listed, select "Choose Another App" and select the application from the list that appears. If you want to make this application the default for this type of document, check the box that says "Always use this app to open .[file extension] files." Click "OK" to open the document in the selected application. If you have trouble with this method or if it doesn't solve your problem, you may need to change the default file association settings on your computer. This process varies depending on the operating system you are using, so you can search for specific instructions online for your particular system.
@@MaximusMcCullough Thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately, that didn't work either. I love Linux Mint, but sometimes I don't like it very much 🙄
@@MaximusMcCullough From your smart phone... That is ONLINE. This is NOT a sync. It is a way of accessing your Google Drive from Linux. This is why it places a shortcut in the NETWORK section of your computer. You also can not have a file on the desktop or in some other folder and have it sync to your Google drive using this method. It MUST be in the *****@gmail folder that is placed under NETWORK. Try this. Turn off the wifi and unplug your network cable. NOW you are off line. Try to open the google folder now. YOU cant.

This is great. Thx. Not sure why whenever I searched in the past the internet kept pointing me to every other sync option but this one.
I just had exactly the same thought. Why use insync, rsync and all those other names when this here is possible. Thank you!
Installed it but used the OEM option and didn't verify the ISO as it was tooooo complicated. Please advise and shall I reinstall like you say?

There is a problem that google drive encripts the files, so if you try to use something like Obsidian on those files it won't read it correctly

how do you add an existing folder to sync ?
