- Many cloud services don’t support the Linux platform, so if you’re looking to transfer files back and forth you’ll need to use a third-party solution. There are many types of solutions that enable Linux users to access third-party cloud services (like Google Drive, Backblaze, etc) but Rclone for Linux is the best by far, as it allows users to have multiple connections to many different services. Definitely the simplest tutorial I went through for setting up rclone.
Thank you for this video. The written instructions I found via google search were confusing/unclear, so this video was perfect!
is this work just like we do in the windows? I mean they are online in our file explore as a folder and sync in both computer and gdrive?
This video was my lifesaver. Now I can sync my Linux/Chrome OS with Google Drive. Thank you!
@4:37-Be careful when using rclone sync command. If used incorrectly. i.e. for uploading the first time, when there is no files on the google drive, it will delete all the files on the local folder. Luckily I had a backup.
Just happened to me 10 minutes ago. Wish I read the comments :/
FYI, I was able to set up Google Photos in the same manner as Drive :) using different mount and cache directories of course.
I am just setting up rclone for google drive. To setup a 2 way connection that I can see through thunar for example, I have used rclone mount with success using the file caching options. I was able to copy files to the mount and update files in the mount. The writes/updates appeared on Google Drive. I will either set this up as a systemd service or start it up when my window manager starts with the --daemon option.
The mount command I used looks like this: rclone mount gdrive: /home/tames/gdrive --cache-dir /home/tames/.rclone_gdrive_cache --vfs-cache-mode full --daemon
To view the daemon running: ps -ef | grep rclone
How that test folder came...did it came bt default or you have created it sir...
the simplest tutoriel ever, thank you very much, i'm subscribing to your channel
This is an excellent tutorial. Thank you. Who downvoted this video and why? It's straightforward and easy to follow.
how can I set up Rclone to sync with my NAS over ssh ? do you maybe have a tutorial for that? Thanx.
Good video. However, nowhere have I been able to find out how to set up a Web Disk from cpanel. I can set up everything else eg Mega/Google/Onedrive but despite cpanel provides the settings, simply cant get Rclone to work eg I use Webdav option with host, username and password but no go. Would be great if you know how? Cpanel provides a Nautilus script, but for consistency I need Rclone.
i have problem ... can you help me ? when i wrote the command " rclone mkdire googledrive|rclone-test-folder, i have a message saying "order not found" ... I tried many things but nothing works.. thanks
Wow! I was looking for help. It saved me! Thank you!
if I have some stuff in a folder which i want to sync , but the folder is inside a shared drive , can you please help me with the syntax for that
Thank you
Good video, helped me get it setup. I thought I should mention tho even though it might seem obvious. I am using a remote server to send files to google drive. Make sure you put 'n' when it asks about remote config. Thanks
at 1:30 when it asks about client secret and I default it brings up a screen that says remote config use auto config say yes if not sure say not if your are working on a remote or headless machine or y didn't work y) yes n) no y/n>, what should I do? Thanks, Mike

nice desktop which is it ?
KDE Plasma
Whats the command to download/sync the entire contents of G drive?
Why don't you maximize the window ?
Amazing brother! thanks a ton! please continue making these videos! #LinuxForLife
There's any way to have 2-way sync or simulate it with rclone?
This is what I'm trying to figure out as well, haha.
Cron jobs. Create a cron job which will start a sync at some hour, or day, and get what you want or need.
Has anyone else failed to get the GoogleDrive token? How can I deal with it?
What if I want to do this in my cloud server which does not have a browser? It has command line only
I have the same question. Did you get any solution?
When the config asks if it should "use auto config?" just select No instead, that way you can auth it on a headless machine.
I'm trying to just download my entire library how do I do that?
For rcclone sync delete your files en your computer, is best in other file new, no rcclone sync in files existing in your computer
Thanks a lot bro you saved a lot of my time.
Which Linux Distribution are you using?
It looks like KaOS kaosx.us/
I believe he could be using Kubuntu as well, it is hard to tell though since he most likely has his Gui pretty customized. kubuntu.org/
