@@CFalicon exactly, i have the 14K on an Ocea Flex Drive (JDM rod) and the 4K FK for fresh water/Long Island sound. I want the 8K on an Ocea Quick Jerk (medium Setup) 👌👌

The first thing you want to take care of is your safety gear. Even 15 miles off the beach you want to have all the basics covered there. Next would be figuring out your fuel burn and what your safe range is. I would think you should be able to fish any of the typical midshore areas out of squan. I fished today about 17 miles from the inlet and there were boats much smaller than yours there.

About 40-45 miles on this trip.

Sure thing. My jigging rods have 50 or 60 lb Diawa J Braid x8 solid braid with either 60 or 80 lb fluorocarbon leaders and my popping rods have 60 lb Cortland C-16 hollowcore with twisted leader systems, 80 lb mono for the twisty and 80 lb fluorocarbon for the bite leader.

This was about 45 miles. I typically look for the most condensed birds and slicks in a situation like this. Another factor was marking the fish and getting a pattern of where on a particular lump they were holding.

I was out in the hudson today, 8-24-24. Not one single tuna bite. Marked a few at 400 feet. Had a blue/white marlin smack the spread, and then tile fished the rest of the day.

For jigging the PG is best, generally the rule of thumb is high gear for faster line retrieval for casting and low gear for better jig presentation for jigging. I have caught with HG jigging before however.

I'm typically fishing 60 lb Cortland C16 hollow or 60 lb solid braid for jigging. 60 lb seems to give the best line strength to line capacity for 10k-14k sized reels. For 18k and 20k most guys typically go up to 80 lb.

​@CFalicon yea I heard that there was a bite out there for a couple of days then it just went out like a light hopefully the big storm offshore doesn't mess up the bite to bad

@@CFalicon do you or have you done any seminars on tuna fishing I'd be interested in sitting through one with you most people who do them either concentrate on chunking and trolling I like the topwater action and jigging

I have a how to topwater video that’s pretty informative but no I haven’t done any seminars. Usually a lot of the seminars get done in winter or early spring. I think shorecatch does a few at the fishing expos that focus on jig and pop.
