I like your setups, Nice to see people using spinning gear. I have a Stella 14K 65lb Sufix Braid, 60lb Fluro, on an Ocea Flex Drive rod. Sick setup....
Taking tuna off the oil Riggs in the Gulf, we always change the hooks out to Owners circle hooks and the Roosta Poppers always work the best. Redfish around here love the pink and orange 135’s
Excellent Video Craig. Great info and great details. I fish out of same marina as Sean and recognized him in your clips. Very well explained and learned a few more things. Looking forward to appling some of these strategies this year.
Hey Craig where I find this rod calstar blue Jr. To buy like that size , awesome video congrats, hopely you will put a lot tuna in your boat this year .
Hi. I never tuna fishing before. I do want to. I have a 232 for boat. How do I start with. Rod and reel ect...if you don't might share. I live near Cape cod MA. Thanks for the video
hi bro thanks for video, i want to ask you, can you tell me what is best rod popping CHEAP for fishing 100 lb tuna blue fin with shimano tp 10K?thanksagain
@@CFalicon Last year I bought the wrong rod it's more of a stick bait rod It has a really slow Taper and it pulls poppers underwater So this year i'm gonna try again But I don't wanna buy The wrong rod again So you think I should go with the 200 ST I don't need the Monster ledge 250 or 250ST
Any one of those rods will work fine for poppers. The weight is more about the size class of fish you’re looking to target. If you’re targeting the 250-300 lb class then yes you should go heavier than the 200st but if not they’d be overkill.
I'm typically fishing 60 lb Cortland C16 hollow or 60 lb solid braid for jigging. 60 lb seems to give the best line strength to line capacity for 10k-14k sized reels. For 18k and 20k most guys typically go up to 80 lb.
Awesome video, had to rewatch 3:33 four times 😅
Smellin' Mellon.... hundreds of hours of on the water information packed into a timely video. Great cabin fever video...

Nice video, what kind of boat do you have and are you a guide ?
I have an Onslow Bay 27 and no I just fish privately no charters
Another awesome informative video! Thanks a bunch! 💪💪💪
hi bro thanks for video, i want to ask you, can you tell me what is best rod popping CHEAP for fishing 100 lb tuna blue fin with shimano tp 10K?thanksagain
Centaur Constellation or Combat Arm would give you most bang for your buck. Or a Ghost hunter 200.
@@CFalicon thanks bro
@@CFalicon do u sell rods. I cant find this rod on my county i can buy it from you and send to me ?
I was looking at that monster ledge 200 St But I thought it was a stick bait rod I wasn't aware you could work poppers with that rod
It’s a great popper rod. The tip is plenty stiff to work poppers. The el maestro 77h is another good option for throwing poppers.

The topwater fish in this video are all on the 200st, you could get an idea of what it looks like. ruclips.net/video/rr1YvyDuBgM/видео.html
Thank you so much I will go with the 200 ST then Your videos have some of the best information you can get
You mention braid brands, what's the PE# rating or how many lbs though?
I'm typically fishing 60 lb Cortland C16 hollow or 60 lb solid braid for jigging. 60 lb seems to give the best line strength to line capacity for 10k-14k sized reels. For 18k and 20k most guys typically go up to 80 lb.
@@CFalicon Cool! Thanks a lot!
Hello captain, how do you tie the hooks you use for tuna fishing?
For anything over 80lbs I usually crimp. For anything 80 and under I tie a uni or palomar knot.
What size bkk hooks on the siren lure?
2/0
That was Great tyu..!
Do you run a Twisty leader when you run a Stickbait/Sinking Lure and RonZ?
Yes I'll still run a twisty for a sinking lure at times, but if I'm trying to be very stealthy I'll go with a wind on leader of 60 lb fluorocarbon
What do you connect to the popper with do you use a barrel swivil?
I use a ball bearing swivel to a split ring
@CFalicon thank you sir that's what I was thinking basically the same hardware as a jig setup
@pavetech6980 Yep basically the exact same setup so you can easily swap lures with split ring pliers
@CFalicon appreciate the info sir and I have a pair of shimano split ring pliers there a game changer
Are those Ghost Hunter rods one or two piece?
They are two piece with the joint at the forward grip.
Hello captain, what length do you recommend for a spinning rod for tuna fishing?
For casting I like 7'4" to 7'8", for jigging 5'2"-5'4" usually. Different rods for each type of fishing.
@@CFalicon Thank you Captain, I really appreciate your information. Good luck on your fishing trips.
How heavy a fish can daiwa 8000BGMQ with 7’8ft phenix 25-65lb rod handle?
That would be a good setup for school fish 50-75 lbs I would say
Would you Be Interested doing a Seminar at The Forked River Tuna Club?
I am very flattered Eric. I'd have to think about it as I haven't done any seminars in the past.
Craig, do you run charters? Jeffrey
I do not. I just fish for fun.
What solid braid (non hollow core) would you recommend? And what lb test?
Varivas make good solid braid as does the diawa J braid x8. I like 60 lb for the 10k-14k sized reels. Larger you could go 80 lb
@@CFalicon thanks man. You need to put out more videos. Great content
Great video Craig. What size leader you generally use
For a twisty leader I’m using 80 lb mono to 80 lb fluoro. For a wind on leader I’m using 80 fluoro typically and 60 for fall bluefin at times
