That top water strike was insane even on camera, I’m sure in your memory it’s even crazier. That was a tough loss, but let’s be honest hooking a tuna that big from shore is like showing up to a gunfight with a squirt gun 😂
Hooked up on a 12ft sturgeon once and when I saw the thing breach I instantly knew I was screwed! same exact thing happened. 😅 I stood no chance! all I was going for was stripper so at least seeing a sturgeon that big was cool but I'd probably have lost it even if I came prepared.

I had the same experience in Norway with a giant halibut. Threw out a half-pound saithe in a strait and hooked on something that took all line and snapped it like a sewing thread. Before I caught fish up to 20 kg but this was on a whole other level. I will never know how big it was.
The sound of the drag just burning with that monster on the other end gave me a smile. It’s not everyday you catch something “too big”. That rod and reel are screaming “watch me go”. 😂
If you fish for 100 kg tunas, you must be prepared for 200 kg tunas.... But in the end, any of them can throw you on the rocks instead you throwing them over the rocks.....That is fishing! You never know what runs around your lure..... Fantastic video! Congrats my friend!!!!
I don't think there were any tuna's over 110kg caught from shore. Even with the best tackle in the world you stand very little chance. Must be an amazing feeling to fight such a majestic creature...can't wait to get out there next year. Well done Ivan.
It’s not all the time about landing a fish and take a picture. This is what a real fisherman dreams for. To hook up a monster and fight with him ,to feel his strength and at the end of the day to have a feeling that can be described. Good job tuna King 🤴. 🍾🎣
Exactly. I’d rather have fought it for a while than to have never felt the power of the mighty bluefin. I’ve lost many many bluefin that sometimes still keep me up at night going over what I did and what I should have done. But in the end. Better to have done battle than to get nothing. Great video. I’m supposing this took place in the Mediterranean somewhere?
That fish is huge ! That would be hard enough on 24kg and a boat ! These tuna I’m seeing these days are getting massive again !!! Love the sound of fish peeling off line

Yes that's right. Stuck on shore with a 450lb rocket shooting away 50mph, I don't think anyone on earth would have landed that fish. But the excitement in that moment at the remote possibility you could must have been the experience of a lifetime.

It was totally out of strength and sweated like a pig at the end, but it was worth every minute of it, and to see that fish slowly swim away brought such joy over me that nothing else in this world could compare to it. I hope your knee is ok. That looked painful. I think that people should just buy lightweight gear when shore fishing, unless they really intend to hook into a large fish. That way the fight is not so long and less line gets spooled out / wasted. I have been in lakes in faraway places (Canada) and gathered hundreds of meters of wasted fishing line. I lost a Lake Michigan-run sturgeon the same size. Of course they hit your bait on the bottom, so not as exciting as a top water take. Peeled my reel in no time before shaking me off. When these big fish get away, there’s nothing to be upset about as they’ll pass on their genetics or give another angler that special experience. Tight lines brother.
The reel drag on the line steadily increases as the spool line diameter decreases due to the fish taking line (removing line from the reel spool). Therefore as the line diameter decreases, you must loosen the drag on the reel, otherwise the line will not be able to withstand the increased drag and will break. I landed a 236.6 Lbs yellowfin tuna on a boat a 10 day trip with 26 fisherman. I used a braid 100lb with a 150 floro carbon leader on a live sardine. A 2 speed Okuma n a hybrid carbon rod. It took me 1hr 40 mins n I lost count how many times it crossed over the anchor line!! That was 2017 my personal best for tuna.
@@localguy8 yes, you were on a boat which given you a higher chance to land the fish than from onshore location like this guy. If the fish spools you too much then the boat can chase after the fish to recuperate the fishing line easily. While this guy had no chance since he stucked on the rock onshore. Sound like you used a conventional reel type which would hold a lot more line to play with the fish than a spinning reel.
@localguy8 so a slower tuna, half this size, on a 2 speed conventional reel, from a boat. Basically that experience and this one are so far apart you almost can't call them both the same sport
No kidding ! I'd love to know where that's at, to be able to encounter a fish like that from shore. I will say that if it was me and I knew that there were fish like that swimming out there, I probably would have started off wearing the fighting belt lol.
Great try man. Can’t even be mad. People do not realize the difference from a 100kg to a 200kg but will sit here trying to talk like they know. Most people would give up on a 50 kg tuna from land. Good stuff man. That was one of the nastiest top water tuna strikes ever. Epic stuff. 👍👍
What a legendary eat! I'll bet you won't be forgetting that Leviathan. Hooking a fish like that top-water is the pinnacle, landing it would have just been gravy. You got the best part of that fish hardwired into your memory now.

That is some heck of a rod, check out that bend!! 🎣👀💀
@localguy8 so a slower tuna, half this size, on a 2 speed conventional reel, from a boat. Basically that experience and this one are so far apart you almost can't call them both the same sport
Great fisherman! Keep it up! Let me know what reel and size, rod and line you were using, please! It would mean alot to me!
Tnx man! I will write you message, best!
Its in the description, i dont see option for messages here :)
The rush!!!. One in a lifetime. Some of us dream about that. No matter it got away. ❤
3M tuna from shore!?! You did alright, buddy. I don't think anyone expects you to actually land a fish that big on shore.
I would say now..bug fish happens. I dont expect also, waiting for a bit smaller one
The way the tuna jumped out the water for the lure was epic!
🙏
That was definitely a world record from the rocks you fought that thing as good as anyone could good job
Yeap...hell of a fish it was..
Man O' man! Glad your arms are still attached. Geesh!
At least you got a chance with that bucket list fish! Great job
That was a great fight!!!! Cheers buddy! sve najlobjle u idniny!
The best fishing video I’ve seen. This is what all fishermen dream off at night. Great fight that fish was amazing 🤙🏼🎣
Thanks man, apreciate!!
No kidding ! I'd love to know where that's at, to be able to encounter a fish like that from shore. I will say that if it was me and I knew that there were fish like that swimming out there, I probably would have started off wearing the fighting belt lol.
One of the best fights I have ever seen. Fisherman never had a chance. Good effort!
That was epic. I can’t even imagine how much adrenaline was pumping 🔥 🤙 🔥
Great try man. Can’t even be mad. People do not realize the difference from a 100kg to a 200kg but will sit here trying to talk like they know. Most people would give up on a 50 kg tuna from land. Good stuff man. That was one of the nastiest top water tuna strikes ever. Epic stuff. 👍👍
Just stumbled across this absolutely humbling experience, huge props for attempting to turn her what an absolute unit of a tuna.
Thanks man
Wow....that initial strike was epic. That will live with you forever......fantastic 👏👍
That's insane, must br a crazy adrenaline kick! What a fish!
Jaooo bas bilo prevelika!... Jebiga sta ces brate, samo napred! Poz od Australije!
neki drugi put, pozdrav za Au iz Srbije :)
I'm giggling like a little school kid what a rush...tight lines lads ❤
Thanks man 👌
One way to de-spool your line , epic fight ,good effort 👍
Combattimento incredibile e meraviglioso! Bravo e grazie!!
🤙🙏🏼
Got too excited brother. In times like these just slow down and don't get hurt man
Yep..low concentration that morning..not in the best mood for big mamas
I’ve not had a fish that big in that situation, but I’ve definitely fallen on rocks like that and man. I felt your pain through the screen. Ouch!
🙏🏼🙏🏼
What a legendary eat! I'll bet you won't be forgetting that Leviathan. Hooking a fish like that top-water is the pinnacle, landing it would have just been gravy. You got the best part of that fish hardwired into your memory now.
That was a GIANT, damn bro. You’ll get em next time
I can’t believe you hooked that thing right from the shore. Amazing.
Sweet friggin video man what a rush. Ice that knee partner!
What an awesome experience! It’s great that it jumped and you got it on camera. Running across jagged rocks was a poor choice
Sometimes you win, sometimes loose :)
@@nasticivan should’ve jumped in and see where it takes you haha
Awesome..good stuff !!
