Great video. Thank you for sharing. I’m also getting into the tuna fishing game. Caught my first yellowfin this past fall on my friends boat. Looking forward for more great videos.
Great content! What trolling setups do you run? Was that a Shimano TLD 30 2 speed I saw in the video? Curious what rods you have paired with them? Thanks! Fish out of Barnegat Inlet
You make some awesome videos. I live in NJ also. Id love to collab a video with you. I've always wanted to catch some TUNA! I went out one time with Team Fish Whistle. We were unsuccessful in our attempt. Id love to give it a shot with you!
I'm not doing this in a 22' Proline, right? I'm looking at boats to go out on the Bluefin Grounds and I don't want to make a mistake. I've got gear, no boat. I looked at a Proline221 walk around with a 200merc on the back. Not enough, right?
It depends on where the fish set up. The last few years in June the bite has been good in the 15-25 mile range, easily do-able in a 22 ft boat on a good weather day. I've fished the 30 fathom line in a 21 contender, though that's not something I would recommend.
@@CFalicon I understand, does a foot or two make a difference? If they're set up 30-35 miles offshore, I might not be in the comfort zone for a 22' boat. I'm running out of Raritan Bay, so I don't even know where to head from there...Mudhole? Mudhole then out? Would I better off waiting and getting something a little bigger, maybe 25'? Bunch of stuff to ask, I know, but there are levels of "undergunned". Thanks for the reply.
@@mikemelina7395 I started out catching football bluefin around the BA buoy and oil wreck areas out of sandy hook, the last few seasons the areas inshore of the mud hole around little italy and ollie's lump have produced in June. That would be a good area to start in. It's a farther run from the hook but you aren't very far offshore from the Manasquan area.
@@CFalicon So I could do that in a 22' Proline. I was thinking of looking for a 24-25' center console I could tow up to RI or CC where they're in closer, but watching you and the rest of the NJ guys getting tight on good fish, I'm more inclined to stay local. The boat I'm looking at isn't really set up: no hard top, antique depthfinder, no outriggers, small cockpit...not perfect, but does stuff come available this time of year?
@@mikemelina7395 Cape Cod still is in a class by its own, but NJ has been coming close the last few seasons. I used to go to the Cape every fall for topwater bluefin and I haven't in a few years because there's no reason to leave NJ. I think you'd have more margin for error and more fishable days on a 24-25 so it might be better off holding out for something a bit better than what you're currently looking at.
Just found your channel and subbed. Love this stuff. Cant wait to get out there. From another NJ brother. Good stuff. Hey tell us more about your boat and electronics. Would love to see that. Brian

Those are TLD 30 two speeds on Pinnacle 20-50s with short bent butts. I also run Penn 30 VSWs and Talica 25s on 30-80 Calstar baby boomers.
@@CFalicon Appreciate the response. I am looking at the Pinnacle 20-50's and 30-80's XR series.
