Thank you for your insight and a heart felt thanks to France for their crucial aid in establishing the United States as a new nation.
Thank you very much! All my friendship from France :)
I truly hate communism but it's great on people but always ends in genocide Great on paper*
Yup, I caught that one too and it raised me off of the couch to comment. WW1 he was sadly mistaken about France surrendering. The opposite was true. What should be the right strategy for France now? I'm struggling to figure out what my own nation's (US) strategy should be. It can be quite convoluting and lots of gray area. Both of our nations are struggling to preserve their own identities. Anyways I think you have cool commentary and I look forward to checking out more of your history uploads. "Lafayette we are here". Cheers and vive la France
Thank you very much! Well I am not an expert and I've followed the war less in recent months, as we've suffered a major political crisis. But as the Kremlin and its bots are also part of the chaos that was created in my country, I'd say that we have to do anything to contain the expantionism of Putin. The more he gets influence, the more our democraties are in jeopardy. All my friendship from France!
@@ToonStory-fh4gn Thanks for your reply. I'd say that you have a solid purchase on history and current affairs and part of me is with you, on the other hand, American and western policy I believe are partly at fault for passive aggression and posturing closer to Russia's border over the decades than were agreed upon, causing the Kremlin to get quite concerned too. I don't condone Putin's invasion but it's complicated and could have been avoided if the US chose a different path. Unfortunately we are where we are at today and it's scary especially for you European nations. At the end of the day the US and France are watching each other's backs as has been the case an should be. Fraternal partners since our founding.
I love watching reaction videos from people who have some sort of in depth knowledge/training of the subject. I don't care what Jane Doe has to say about a music video, but listening to composers or vocal coaches talk about it teaches me something new. You are, by far, the best reaction to TFE that I've found. Excellent work and thank you!
Thank you very much for this heartwarming comment. All my friendship from France :)
I hope many more people find your channel. The French were crucial to American Independence and deserve more spotlight during that timeframe. Many Americans don't even know that one of our most famous monuments, the Statue of Liberty, was a French gift.
Thank you very much, long live the friendship between our countries!
"History is always better than fiction" well said. Keep up the good work!
That is why I love History so much, thank you very much!
Wow I've seen the movie,an it's fantastic. Wow based on a true story, man dose that make him a french samurai,I wonder what the Japanese thought of him staying behind because of loyalty to them, another fantastic video my friend.
It's one of my favourite historical movies. I don't know what they thought on him, probably they must have had a tremendous respect for him, the same he had for they. Thank you bro!
During the American Civil War, despite saying they were neutral leaning towards the CSA, the British gifted the CSA warships, one that would become the CSS Alabama. The CSS Alabama would be used to attack merchant shipping and other targets. The CSS Alabama was eventually sunk off the coast of France by a US ship. Because of these ships, the US would go into disputes with the British Empire over the damage caused by the ships and them not keeping to their neutrality. This was called the Alabama Claims (1862- 1872).
I knew that France and Great Britain were supporting the CSA because of the cotton economy. But I didn't know that France had sunk the CSS Alabama, thanks for the information!
Congrats on the elections! 🙂
@@Summer_Dream3r thank you ❤️❤️❤️
What gets lost to history is America's Constitutional government is the second government. The US started with The Articles of Confederation. It was purposely designed to restrict central authority and it was too weak. A few years later it was dissolved for the current government.
Thank you, I was totally ignorant of that fact!
Marquis de Lafayette brought Thomas Jefferson over to France after the Revolution. They tried to make a more liberal government. It use to be there were more 150 places in the US named for Lafayette.
Someday I'll do a full proper video on Lafayette!
Did I miss hear, or did you say " the Hapsburg's and their chins?" 4:30 P.S. or maybe you said "the Qin."
I mentioned the legendary Habsburg's chin

I love the detail you add to the story. Thank you. Best wishes from Alabama, USA P.S. You might find this interesting- a 16 year old girl, Sybil Ludington, rode twice as many miles that night than Paul Revere. They did not shout, “The British are coming,” because these colonials were also British. Instead, they told the people that “The regulars are coming.” 😊
Thank you very much for the comment, and for the anecdote I really like these stories :) All the best from Lyon, France
As an American from a military background, I understand that France gave us the Statue of Liberty, and we still fight for it. New sub from NC

It was very fun to review, and I was totally unaware of this crazy episode 😅Thank you!
Really loved the extra history you provided in the breaks!
Thank you I am glad you enjoyed it!
The French Revolution was easily one of the biggest turning points in Europe’s history.
Oh yes, it is incredible to see how it influenced almost so much of what happened after on the continent

@@ToonStory-fh4gn absolutely! Just binged watched like 5 of your videos 😂 I GENUINELY loved your input of North Korea propaganda into the “world war tree” video because I had NEVER seen those! Did you say that french soldiers carried baguettes in their pockets?
That's a legend or a widespread rumor that Baguettes were designed to be easy to carry for the soldiers in their bags or uniforms... But tI am not sure whether it is true or not

Oh yes, we have a busy History
Snooty and expensive? Sure great people? Sure.
Napoleon
Various times in this reaction (parts 1 & 2) your statements reminded me of Vietnam (I spent 18 months there). The French couldn't defeat them .. we took over and the same thing happened. Seems that unless you kill off enough of the enemy (Culloden) ... you are defeated piecemeal .. I think mostly it is not defeats in battle but the underpinning support at home.
Yes, good point! It is kind of "easy" to conquer a remote country which is militarely less advanced but staying there and maintaining an effective control will require ten times the ressources you needed to invade it. And without the approval of the population and assistance of local elites it's going to be a nightmare for you
Great reaction!
@@theblackbear211 thank you!
Fun fact. The last vessel to leave Wake Island before the Japanese attack was the Tugboat Arthur Foss - it was under weigh between Wake and Hawaii when it learned of the attack. It is still afloat as a museum vessel in Seattle, Washington, USA.

Monroe Doctrine, I love the discussion of such topics as they come up. Your brief summary of your knowledge on the topics that's mentioned is terrific. <3 Lafayette from America, Vive la France, Vive la liberté! America and France, Liberty means so much to both of our people. <3
Thank you so much, Long live the friendship between our peoples, and glory to our shared History!
I loved your description of Iran "Pissing on their shoes" - because yes, from 1979 on, starting with the debacle of the hostage taking at the US Embassy in Tehran, Iran had been doing just that every chance that they got. Constant belligerent posturing and provocations - but never quite enough to provoke an official armed response. All of this happening with the background of the US and USSR navies pushing each other's limits during the "Cold War". So, the US Navy had been waiting for this for the best part of 10 years.
Informative. I didn't expect to learn anything new because we were taught a lot about France here due to Lafayette. Such a badass, Lafayette was. I have been enjoying some of your videos lately and I wanted to tell you that your videos are thoroughly satisfying. Greetings from Virginia, U.S., France's Sister Republic
Thank you very much, someday I'll do a proper video on Lafayette. Greetings from Lyon, France
I never knew 'dragoons' got their name from the small arms weapons the French issued to their cavalry units in the 18th century!
Yes I discovered it a couple months ago. Their were equipped with this weapon designed to be easy to carry and helping them to stay mobile. Cheers!

16:00 Frenchy said, "What is this man made of?" That question prompted me to share the fact that Daniel Daly had extraordinary actions that were NOT discussed in the Fat Electrician video. Here is my favorite omitted incident: "At the outbreak of the Battle of Veracruz on April 21, 1914, Sergeant Daly landed in Veracruz, Mexico, with a combined force of 1,200 U.S. Marines and sailors. The American objective was to seize the port and customs house to prevent a shipment of German weapons-200 machine guns and 15 million rounds of ammunition, potentially to be used against the United States-from reaching shore. The ensuing battle saw intense street fighting, and the day after landing, Daly's platoon was pinned down in an arroyo, facing heavy sniper fire from a rooftop. Daly covertly crawled out of the ditch, entered the building from the rear and killed its entire seven man garrison, five by rifle fire and two by bayonet. By the end of the day, the Americans had captured the city." Edit: My great uncle is buried at Menin Gate. He died in Belgium before the US had even entered WW1. He, along with thousands of other Americans, had volunteered to fight in the Canadian Expeditionary Forces. He died near Ypres. These men are mostly forgotten today in America, but the Belgians remember. They perform a ceremony every evening at 8pm called "Last Post", and they've been doing so for over 100 years now (with a hiatus during WW2).
I had watched a few of your reaction videos, and followed for that, but I've been binging your original content like this, and it's absolutely amazing. You deserve a lot more subs!
Thank you so much!!!
Shoutout to our best French ally of this time period - Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette - hero in both the US and in France. After the War of Independence he returned to France, but he did visit the US again in 1784. He addressed the Virginia House of Delegates where he called for "liberty of all mankind" and urged the emancipation of all slaves. Maryland's legislature honored him by making him and his male heirs "natural born Citizens" of the state, which made him a natural-born citizen of the United States after the 1789 ratification of the Constitution. He visited the USA for the last time in 1824 and was awed at the love the Americans had for him. Lafayette arrived at New York on 15 August 1824, accompanied by his son Georges Washington and his secretary Auguste Levasseur. He was greeted by a group of Revolutionary War veterans who had fought alongside him many years before. New York erupted for four continuous days and nights of celebration. He then departed for what he thought would be a restful trip to Boston but instead found the route lined by cheering citizens, with welcomes organized in every town along the way. According to Unger, "It was a mystical experience they would relate to their heirs through generations to come. Lafayette had materialized from a distant age, the last leader and hero at the nation's defining moment. They knew they and the world would never see his kind again." Lafayette died in France in 1834. President Jackson ordered that Lafayette receive the same memorial honors that had been bestowed on Washington at his death in December 1799. Both Houses of Congress were draped in black bunting for 30 days, and members wore mourning badges. Congress urged Americans to follow similar mourning practices. Later that year, former president John Quincy Adams gave a eulogy of Lafayette that lasted three hours, calling him "high on the list of the pure and disinterested benefactors of mankind". Today there are hundreds of streets, cities, and towns in the USA named after him - so many that they have their own page on Wikipedia: (List of places named for the Marquis de Lafayette).
