I passed the NCLE thanks to your videos, you're a phenomenal teacher, Sam!
@@zerohiryu3948 CONGRATS! That awesome. Thank you for sharing 🙂
I'm taking the NCLE basic tomorrow, so watching your videos will hopefully help. Thanks for making them. My employer pays for an online training program, but your ABO review booklet from 2016 was a big help to prepare for that test last year.
@@sunflowerhelen9933 how exciting! You’ve got this 💪🏼 Let us know when you pass 💯
Just letting you know I passed the test this morning and several of the questions were about things I didn't know before I saw them in your videos. So thanks again!
@@sunflowerhelen9933 yay! CONGRATS. Thanks so much for letting us know 😊
I take my NCLE exam August 24th here in Nashville! Nervous fingers crossed! Watching all your videos and going through optician works. Have done this for 22 years just now doing my Tn license.
You’ll knock this test out, no problem! Thanks for watching and keep us updated! 😊
Passed my NCLE exam this morning. Thanks for your help
@@TheFalconEye26 Congrats! Way to go 🎉👏🏼🍾
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. The GOAT
@@SG-qh4jz 😊 thanks
Would it ever be appropriate to send a pt home with a gp lens empirically fit without checking the lenses with a slit lamp and nafl, .
No lol Even if the data suggests a lens would be a perfect fit, no two eyes are exactly the same so it’s always best practice to check the fit to make sure it’s not tight, flat etc… on the cornea. Thanks so much for watching 📺
Thank you for explaining this so simply I can finally understand it. Please consider doing videos for the ABO exam, I have coworkers training for it and they are having difficulty with it.
Thank you for your encouraging words! I wouldn’t be surprised if I ended up diversifying into more ABO-type content!
Hahahah 🎉nice!! Good job kids!!
Thank you so much for these videos! 😅
Amazing vedio thank you
Thanks my guy🕺🏾🔥
Btw great content on these v ideos
How do you calculate cpc values?
I have a question about multiplying the change in vertix dist and -10. It should be -1.12. The answer would then be positive and that isn't right. So what is the explanation here? I saw someone else had mentioned this, but I did not see an answer!
I believe I figured it out! He explains that we use + VD because we are moving closer to the eye, but viewing the VD as the patient, we are moving in a minus direction. I think he just switched the signs at the beginning filling out the formula, if that makes sense.
how did you get 8.12 at 90?
He mentions you have to compensate for vertex distance, and he has videos that go into that further.
Thanks for the video! Just wanted to let you know I passed my ncle! Thanks so much for all your awesome work ❤
So glad to hear. Congrats! 😃🎉👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you for the information. 👍🏼
You’re welcome! Hope it benefits you in your studies.
This video really helped me to understand why Vertex distance is compensated !! I would like to learn a formula as well though.
Hey! Thanks for watching. I have other vertex distance videos covering the formula 😀
Thank you for sharing your knowledge simple way
I appreciate you watching! 😊
Going to take my ncle in a couple of weeks! Thanks so much ❤
Thanks for watching! Let us know when you pass 💪🏼
Thanks! Quite helpful!
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Omg I just passed my ABO today, and a huge part of it was your free tutorials. Now for my NCLE already on your videos for that! Thanks a million 😉👍
So glad they were helpful! I appreciate you watching 😊
Hi Sam, in the last problem you go over, I got lost as to why the cylinder (- 0.75) and 180 axis get canceled out. I know you indicate we'd go with a gas perm, but I didn't understand the reason why.
Hey! I can’t believe you made me watch myself 🤮 lol You definitely COULD fit a soft lens for this patient. For this example I am assuming that your only options are RGP lenses. Mainly it’s focused on determining the power of a RGP lens. On the test you won’t encounter an appropriate soft lens answer and an appropriate RGP lens answer. I talk fast over the point but I say something like “assume our answers are all RGP lenses.” So GREAT QUESTION - I’m just only focusing on GP though!
Step-a-long method is much easier to get vertex compensation. Good presentation though.
Very good. I've got my ABOM, but lack an NCLE credential. I appreciate your depth of knowledge and presentation! It will greatly assist me. Thank you for your teaching.
That ABOM is huge! Thanks for watching 📺
You are awesome for doing these videos, man! Really appreciate the way you simplify complicated subjects. Keep it up!
Thanks for the video , it's great . Also amazing to hear the progess of the cl. Would love a shirt 👕
Message me a size and address and we can make that happen! Appreciate you watching.

I really like the video but I’m new to this so it’s a little confusing and I wish he had explained it more simplistic for people without expertise in this area
Keep rambling, I learned a lot from this video. Thank you for your time.
So glad my babbling is useful 😂
Thank you for the videos they are great! Any study material would you suggest to refer ,I have NCLE in 2 days
Thank you for watching! Honestly, the CLSA study material is really good. You may see if they have any online downloadable books or images to study. Keep us posted!
@@nclecontactlenstraining Thank you. I have passed my NCLE basic and practical combined today .I'm proud that I scored all greens in every content area, Could not have gained the confidence without watching your videos though I was in eye care since 5 years. You have made it easy for me! Thanks again.
@@manasanagaraj7589 sincerely so glad to hear this! CONGRATS 🥳🍾
just passed the (written) NCLE, like 20 minutes ago, in no small part thanks to you!! You broke down and explained stuff in a way that clicked for me and I really appreciate the time you've put into these videos! All that's left is the practical exams and I've got no worries about those thank you so much!
Congrats! I really appreciate you letting me know. Now go celebrate 🎉🥳🍾

You’re so good. You need worksheets and answer keys 😊
☺️ thanks! Maybe one day I will focus on more written content.
Hello, new to your channel and definitely motivated to learn more. Is there a book you recommend that can help study for NCLE certification
Thanks for watching! Honestly, the best NCLE book for study is going to be the CLSA contact lens manual. You can use that book and pass the exam. Of course, you’ll also want to watch these neat-o videos 😁
This is so helpful thanks.
You’re very welcome! Thanks for watching and such 🙂
Can you illustrate an example of average k reading for rgp lenses through any video!
I will make this my next full length video! I appreciate you watching 😊
Sam your videos were a game changer for me!! I passed my NCLE and now am taking my practical. Thank you for helping so many people. We appreciate you
That is so nice to hear! Congrats my friend 💪🏼
This was helpful
Awesome. Appreciate you watching!
I finally get to comment this, THANK YOU for helping me pass my ncle !!! I watched every single one of your videos and i passed finally thank u so much
Proud of you! Go celebrate 🎉🥳🍾
In my book i have RX +3.75 +0.50x90 Ks- 46.75/47.25 VD 8MM when I do it im either minus 0.25 or plus 0.25 /0.75 the answer in the book says ON K is +4.50 STEEPER is +4.00 and FLATTER is +5.00---- I transposed+VD (shouldn't we always?) and its not coming out to the answers in the book. I was able to figure out other questions but this one is hanging me up and I dont know what im doing wrong. Can you please help me see my error?!
Ok so let’s look at this: +3.75 +0.50 x 090 First step is to transpose: +4.25 -0.50 x 180 You always work in MINUS CYLINDER Get rid of the astigmatism component in the Rx for GP/scleral lenses because it’s insignificant and can be cared for by the lens (masked). So, we are dealing with a +4.25 sphere Rx BEFORE compensating for vertex distance. ALL CONTACT LENSES THAT ARE VERTEX DISTANCED BECOME MORE PLUS/LESS MINUS WHEN GOING FROM REFRACTED VD TO A CONTACT LENS Rx. That is why we are adding +0.25 to the +4.25 minus cyl Rx for ON K = +4.50 After that just remember SAM/FAP Steeper add minus and flatter add plus Please let me know if I his helps 😊
Thank you. Vertex distance has been the hardest for me. UGH! Tomorrow is my NCLE exam. You are an amazing teacher@@nclecontactlenstraining

@@mrsromancereaderreview7298 I REALLY appreciate that!
Do you have videos on the ABO as well?
Hey! While this channel is geared towards the NCLE - I assure you that understanding all of the anatomy and prescription interpretation in these videos will give you a huge “leg-up” on your ABO! In fact, a lot of these videos, go into great depth regarding key concepts, like a stigmatism, which will help you understand ABO material much easier. Appreciate you watching!
This was great haha!!! The kids did such a good job (you did too), too cute.
Very helpful video, thank u. I have aquestion though, you mentioned the case of 3 and 9 o'clock staining in the WTR astigmatism. So how can we act in case we have that? What modifications we should do to a lens so we avoid this?
Great question. The answer is - you can’t avoid it! Wife the cornea is steeper along the vertical meridian Fluorescein will create this pattern. What you CAN control is any unnecessary pooling! Anyways - thanks so much for watching, friend.
I did in fact have a light bulb moment!
Heck yes! Thanks for watching 📺
THANK YOU. I grasped something from these three videos that I didn’t the first time I took my NCLE. I appreciate that.
So glad that the videos have been helpful. Go crush that test 💪🏼
So powers in oblique meridians won’t be on the exams? I don’t find that method hard but I’d rather not waste time practicing it when I could be focusing on other areas
Hey! It’s not that you won’t encounter maybe ONE question on OMs but I wouldn’t waste too much energy on them… That being said - I believe you should learn how to work those questions and it sounds like you are pretty good already!
