- This video covers soft contact lens basics, as well as deep dives into the topic of spherical equivalent. Why do we use spherical equivalent (circle of least confusion)? When would we NOT use SE? How do we fit lenses using spherical equivalent? This video is geared towards helping an optician pass their NCLE examination.
Your channel is awesome. There isn’t a lot of valuable information online, open to opticians. You are doing a service and I appreciate you.
I really appreciate you watching!
Dude, I’m so thankful for your lessons. Hours of other training didn’t help with this concept, but you verbally explaining what a spherical equivalent is just made it click. You’re a hero for doing this kind of quality educating, thank you so much! My test is in 8 days and I feel much more confident now. Time to binge more of your awesome work!
So glad you are finding these videos helpful! Let us know when you rock your test 💪🏼
And a 4 minute response time on comments?! You’re amazing!! Will do 💪
Nailed the NCLE this morning! Thanks again for your invaluable help. Sending all my coworkers your amazing channel and I'll be sure to point anyone studying towards you as well. Go Sam!!
I really appreciate that! And CONGRATS that is a HUGE accomplishment!
p.s. the best way you could help grow the channel is to put a “testimonial” up on Opticians of Facebook 🙂
Thank you for the videos. Sometimes one little thing you say makes the lightbulb go off and then I finally understand the portion that has not made sense. I have learned so much 😊. I appreciate your help!
That’s why I create them! 💡 So glad to hear 😊
Thank you Sam! I really appreciate this videos, I have my NCLE test by the end of June 2021 and is my 3rd time, English is not my first language, and NCLE material is sometimes confuse, Your videos are helping me a lot!! Thank you much!
Paola - So glad the videos are helpful! I appreciate you watching 😊
I dumped all these into a Playlist so I can listen to them for the ncle
That’s the way to do it! FACT: I did the same thing as I was preparing to speak for some upcoming CEs. PS It is very awkward listening to yourself 🤣
Let us know when you crush your NCLE 💪🏼
Hey Sam, do you have a slit lamp video with all the illuminations?
Also, do you have a disease workbook video?
I don’t know if you explained this in your videos but can you go over how to understand the following question (and ones like this) :
What would be the power of the GP lens with the given patient:
Rx- -3.50 -.50 x180
Ks 43.00@180/43.50@90
GP bass curve 43.50 D
I truly appreciate your videos!
Hi!
Thanks for interacting!
It’s in minus cyl form ✅
The corneal astigmatism matches the refracted astigmatism ✅
The lens is being fit .50 diopters steeper than K (flattest k is 43 BC 43.50) ✅
S.A.M Steeper Add Minus
Contact lens power -4.00 sphere
Hope that helps 👁
@@nclecontactlenstraining yes! Thank you! I just needed help breaking it down!
Love all of your BIG ORANGE shirts!
GO VOLS 🍊 🏈
Thank you Sam. In the exam will they talk about Slab-off?
Not even a little bit on the CLRE/NCLE.
Hi did you work in hussam optical before
How do we know when to use spherical equivalent? will the problem ask for it?
t
You will use spherical equivalent on soft contact lenses when there is less than 1 diopter of astigmatism. That being said, the test will not have an Rx with .75 cyl due to it being subjective.
You will see soft contact lens Rx’s that have -0.50 cyl (you would know to add have of that to the sphere and select a spherical lens).
