I want to Thank You so much for your time and support for your fellow opticians. I’ve been watching your videos for 3 months and learned so much from you. I’ve been in optical for 22 years and you’ve broken down this training in away that I’ve never seen before. At the end I said I got this, because of Sam!!!! I just passed my NCLE Today!!!! Thank You!!!! I definitely couldn’t have gotten it done without you!!!!
Hi! Watching through these videos will definitely give you a great foundation for much of the “theory” on the NCLE test. I have playlists on the channel designed to immerse you in the content. Sorry - I’m not aware of any free practice tests. That is definitely something that I would like to roll out in the future. Good luck - you’ve got this 💪
I passed the NCLE exam yesterday on my first try. Your videos were a big help, you really helped me understand K readings and lens selection. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! for taking the time to create these videos. I'm recommending you to everyone that need to take the exam.
I needed this reassurance. I passed my ABO with flying colors and have been sweating the NCLE because I’ve heard it’s so difficult. Glad to hear another opinion, as I take my NCLE in three weeks. 😅
I have been licensed since early 2000 but moved to Arizona and they require NCLE but did not pass my first time. I felt like the study material did not give me all I needed based on the material that was given on the test . I will retake in 7 weeks and have been watching and listening to your videos daily during my workouts and commute. I have bought new study material which I feel is better suited for what was on the test. I am determined to pass this time !💯thank you for all the videos , they are helping a lot as well as others .
Hi, Anna! I really appreciate you watching and listening to the videos. I mean, if a micro-lecture on bitoric lenses can’t get you through a set of lunges I don’t know what can! 😂 You will pass this time! Let us know how you do 💪
Hi, Chloe! Most opticians would adamantly state that the NCLE is tougher than the ABO, but the stats say otherwise, so… Thanks for watching the videos 😊 I hope they benefit you as you prepare to annihilate this exam 💯
Oddly, I agree. I was able to pass the NCLE the first time, whereas I had to take the ABO twice to pass. I'm revisiting your videos for the boards because I am struggling with the NCLEP, and have failed that now twice. I just really appreciate the motivation that you inspire in your videos. Thank you!
Hey Sam! Just wanted to say thank you so much for all your helpful videos- I just got back home from passing my NCLE on the first try thanks mostly to your videos. They really helped me grasp the concepts that I just couldn't understand reading from a book. Thank you for all that you do!!
I passed the ABO the first time I took the classes, whereas on the NCLE I had to take it twice mainly due to not having the familiarity with the contact lens on a daily basis, at my clinic we did not work much with contact lens so it made it more difficult to comprehend the material.Regarding the statistic I wonder whether the 60% NCLE passage was first time takers? vs 58% ABO passage?
Thanks for watching - Those stats were based on ALL attempts during the 2019 year. Obviously, the NCLE is not an easy exam (and that’s probably why there is 1/3 the amount certified versus ABO). Press on - you’ve got this 💪
Interesting! I only heard about it being more difficult than ABO. I passed my first take on abo a year ago. Thanks for this video… I’m in CT so I have to pass both ;(
Hello. I have taken all your videos and u help me out tremendously. I was wondering if u have done any videos for just the practical end portion. Or can you talk about this part of the exam. I know it can’t be easy to describe the slit lamp or Keratamoter. Maybe the different type of findings on the lenses or cornea and what they look like. Would greatly appreciate more info. Keep those videos coming. I recommend them to everyone I know who is taking their exam. 😀 TY!!!
Thank you so much for watching! I am glad the videos are helpful 😊 I have a lot of requests for NCLE practical instruction. I am doing some research and will put out a video soon!
I've been told that the NCLE is harder than the ABO just because where I work at, we don't really do fittings for the contacts we mainly focus on glasses. I am currently studying for the NCLE. Wish me luck!
@@jahjahgalang that’s a common thought - which makes sense; however, most of the ABO is theoretical and not what one would encounter in an optical on a daily basis anyways, sooooooooooo…. You’ve got this 💪🏼 Thanks for watching 📺
Good morning Sam. Thank you for the videos !! I’m looking into taking practical test for NCLE in Az. When you have time can you make a video on that exam??
I passed my ABO a couple weeks ago and would like to take the NCLE in November. I started watching your videos recently, however, is there a text you can recommend or where can I get study material? I did take an online course a couple months ago and a part of it was on contact lenses but I would still like to get additional study material.
I can attest to this, the NCLE is more so fact based while the occasional formula/math problem that you have to think through does come up at some point, id say its easier than the ABO for the simple fact that the ABO requires constant calculations you have to memorize wayyy more than just sam and fap, you have to be able to calculate prism, dioptric power, constant transposition, ansi standard, decentration and soo much more.
I work in optical that does not deal with contacts at all. Passed ABO first time and going to take NCLE for the 4th time tomorrow. Still have that nagging fear of failure. Hoping that watching your videos will help fill in the gaps. There isn't a lot of study materials out there for NCLE.
I passed the ABO on my first attempt but failed the NCLE. I work in an optical that doesn't deal with contacts at all so it was certainly a foreign concept to me prior to taking the exam but now that I have seen the material I feel better prepared to study the proper information for this go-around. Taking the NCLE again on Friday and feel a lot better but still not 100%.
@@nclecontactlenstraining Thank you for the support! I passed it Friday and certainly have you to thank for filling in the blanks left by my study guide!
Hi Sam Thank you so much for your videos. The course I took for abo and ncle exam prep are independent so by just watching your videos I was able to fully understand the concepts specially with the k's. Wish me luck taking the ncle this Friday.
I passed the ABO and NCLE Basics on the first try, although I took them about 6 months apart. I’m currently working to become licensed in NC and was not successful on my first attempt on the NCLE Practical. I really struggled evaluating contact lens fit and pathology with the slit lamp. Do you have any suggestions for study material that may help with this?
The only source that I can think of which may benefit you is the Cobtact Lens Society of America has an atlas CD that has images and a practice test with it. Check out the CLSA - Thank you so much for watching 📺 you’ve got this 💪
@@nclecontactlenstraining Thank you so much for the reply. Wonderful direction, the Atlas CD from CLSA was perfect. I’m now an NCLDO! Thank you so much for the wonderful study guides and educational videos.

You can register for the tests on ABO-NCLE.org The only prerequisite is a high school degree so you are more than good to sit for the exams! Thanks for watching 👁
