    Traded my 2015 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 at 120K miles for a 2021 Ford F150 with the coyote engine, STX package, super crew cab, 4x4 drive train with 3:73 gear ration. The venerable hemi produced 395 horse power at the crank and had great acceleration, but not as much as my new F150. The Ram towed very pratically and was a very reliable truck--it just developed the awful hemi tick at 118K. My new F150 has 400 hp with the coyote but doesn't tow quite as well at low speeds as the Ram, has more nusianse aggressive braking applications when towing and is either ready to yank the tongue from the trailer or slowly engage the power. It does, however out performs my former Ram at interstate speeds, pulling hills and when hauling heavier cargo--could be the smaller displacement. My Ram would average 15.6 miles per gallon when towing my boat at 65 miles per hour, the F150 gets 17 to 18 based on the wind. The F150 has a noisy brake boost relay, windows vibrate on concrete interstate pavement (many Ford forums) and has a tendancy to skip second gear during casual driving. The transmission temperature gauage has a software issue ford is working on, because many of them fail to register the accurate temperature consistently. The gauges could be rearraged to improve visibility--I heard for is working on a heads up display. Ford and Ram are both reliable trucks, would buy either one again. Ford sold me more options than Ram for the price I was willing to negotiate. Took my F150 home to South Carolina, got some mud on the tires and did several 0-60 runs, that 5.0 animal is a beast.

    The 5.0 never left the truck. Against a 2.7 and 3.5 the 5.0 is the slowest to 60 mph,,, 70 mph even. The 5.0 never catches the 3.5. It is a fast motor really though. Faster than the Ram 5.7, it even comes close to the 6.2 in the Chevy pickups. Prior to Chevy getting the 10 speed, the 5.0 was faster than the 6.2 even. So it is a good performing motor with a torque band that’s a little too high. The 3.5 and especially 2.7 have such significant torque down low and in the case of the 2.7, it’s really free revving as well. All 3 powertrains are individually unique. The 5.0 “bringing back performance” to the trucks???? It sounds better is all. The performance was always there.

    • @HawkeyeRides
      @HawkeyeRides  2 года назад +1

      That shouldn’t happen but it depends on the work you do with it and if the person maintains it with different paint protection. Once the dirt or debris gets though the clear coat the paint will only hold so long. If it chips than rust can build even quicker. Ford does back the truck with 5 years so if it’s within that time I would talk to Ford or work with your dealership to fix this. You might want to go to a couple different dealerships or the one you bought it from.
