There are two reasons why vegans comprise a fraction of one percent of the population: The main reason is due to humans’ failure to care about what they put into their own bodies - as long as it tastes good, who gives a damn about the consequences to one’s own health or the ethical concerns regarding other creatures or the environment?
The other reason is due to vegan advocates and animal rights activists being inept in their understanding of morality as well as their abysmal grasp of human physiology. Almost every single vegan activist I know of wrongly believes that we are omnivores, and they are clueless in respect to metaethics and applied ethics.
But that is not the most unfortunate thing about the matter. The saddest thing is that there is hardly a single vegan activist even willing to spend an hour or so to learn proper diet and meta-ethics with the World Teacher Himself, Jagadguru Svāmī Vegānanda, despite him freely offering to do so on his social media platforms. 😩

I actually felt a bit sorry for the farmer, he got savaged and had nothing to say other than "tradition tho", "were meant to eat meat" and "protein tho".

The male host said that he "wasn't comfortable talking about what he was having for Christmas dinner in front of Ed." Obviously that is because he feels guilty about it since Ed makes it clear that it isn't ethical.
Right! He was bragging before the segment and then hanging his head after. I hope he thinks about his ethics.
No, it's because he doesn't want to be berated like that for his choices. Shaming someone into making the decisions you want them to make is a great way to get them to shut down and not want to speak openly in front of you anymore.
He and this interview remind me so much of the real life version of Plierce Gorman/Good Morning Trappist if anyone watches Dlal and his What If Aliens Farmed Humans video.
@@Jamie-813dude, this entire video is a debate. From my perspective Ed was just presenting his position, and made points in favor of it, which incidentally made the host uncomfortable. This isn't about being berated. Never once did Ed personally attack anyone, even the turkey farmer.

Smiling, even smirking their way through this discussion about slaughtering sentient creatures is a disgrace. Shame on anyone who behaves like this.
I thought their blasé attitude when considering the death of animals was pretty disgusting. For Christys to be boastful and laughing about the amount of different animals that would be on his table showed how greedy and cruel he is.

They laugh because they are uncomfortable and don't want to show it. Who else laughs at the thought of animals being subject to horrific acts of cruelty?
Their smug childish giddiness and mockery towards veganism makes Ed's point land even harder, I think, because the contrast between their mindless giggling and the harsh cruel reality of animal's suffering is enhanced. I hope some people who watched this had the honesty and courage to look into their hearts and realize that maybe consuming carcasses or tortured animals is not really humane, afterall. I do agree that listening and watching childish people laughing about animal suffering is quite hard, though.
Hate that the only chance Vegans get to be on television is alongside obnoxious carnists with no desire to change. Thank you for standing up for the animals.

They did the same thing with climate scientists not too long ago. The difference is that Ed and a lot of these other vegan spokespeople are trained in debate and most climate scientists were not. Not going to be a winning strategy for the industry when it comes to animal liberation, especially once more and more vegans practice the techniques that Ed is teaching.

God the smarmy cheesy smiles on the hosts's faces and the uncomfortable laughter make me feel like I'm watching a Hunger Games spinoff or something.
on the flip side, it is very satisfying to the hosts' smiles disappear as Ed totally dismantles the turkey farmer's insane statements. You can almost see the gears turning in their head "oh shit, i thought the vegan was gonna get totally owned here"

If you purchased a vegetable or fruit from a grocery store you are supporting farmers that collectively kill millions of rodents and billions of insects each year to support your vegan lifestyle. Another day in the frustrating office for Ed... I think meat advocates are getting more and more speechless and stunned by the lack of a rise from people like Ed who reel off facts and ethical solids... they end up embarrassing themselves, and this is the kind of interview that only helps the fight against speciesism and challenges social imprints. The most mind-blowing statement was that gas chambers are compassionate and humane. That should upset some folks that might disagree (even if it is turkeys instead of humans, it still sounds insane)
I think Ed brought up a good point that we have to change the morals of what used to be because Henry the 8th was a horrendous man who didn't mind killing anyone so thank God we evolved from that. Traditions are not always a good thing. Sometimes change needs to happen because obviously history keeps repeating itself in the most horrendous ways.

I can't remember what it's like to have this cognitive dissonance, and so a failing on my part is to empathise with the meat-eating mindset. But to go on national television and suggest that gassing turkeys is compassionate has me at a loss. I mean... Really? He actually said that?
I mean compassionate relatively speaking, although that's pretty bullshit as well as gassing is often horrifying and painful
Earthling Ed for the win. Have some compassion and learn about the plight against animals and their endless, massive exploitation for our taste pleasure, convenience and enjoyment. Most of us weren’t born vegan but it is possible to awaken and change and actually align with our values. How sad these hosts and many others think Christmas means roasting an animal. Christmas is so much more than what we stick in our pie hole.

They aren't killed for taste pleasure- what an unintelligent surface level comment. We are designed to eat meat. I went vegan and vegetarian multiple times in my attempt to master the diet and yet i couldn't . I worked in a vegetarian restaurant for several years and so countless coworkers health decline as well as regular customers. Vegans are assholes in today's world and they will realise this as time goes by. Oh well, we are all learning but realise your self-righteousness and dogmatic religiosity regarding veganism will soon affect you negatively.
The first step towards going vegan is "feeling awkward speaking about your dinner in front of a vegan". Well done Ed.

I don't see how the farmer lost this debate. He's humanely raising his turkeys and humanely slaughtering them. Humans do better when they eat protein from animal sources and it sounds like this farmer has it figured out. The vegan guy is up here trying to shame others into doing it his way. He's rather the turkeys not exist at all and he's not very compassionate to his fellow humans either.

Let the public see how animals are treated and processed and let the public decide if Red Tractor and all the major Super Market chains really do care about the treatment and welfare of animals.

Like most people, I grew up as a non-vegan. Now it’s been almost 16 years as a vegan, but I definitely remember Christmas dinners as an omnivore. Where I come from, it’s not meat-based, but rather fish-based. I can safely say I never enjoyed those dinners. As a vegan, now every year I make garlic and herbs Christmas bread, have a vegan cheese platter (brie, camembert, charcoal smoked cheese and black truffle one - they cost a lot but it’s Christmas!), vol-au-vents filled with different home-made mousses, and a beautiful tofu-based roast (the recipe says “turkey style” but I never had turkey so I’m not sure, I just know it tastes great) with lots of roasted veggies dressed in aromatic herby oil. The dessert always varies as I love to come up with creative things.
It’s all home-made, tastes delicious, and it’s cruelty-free. Every year I look forward to Christmas for this, and I would never swap my current dinner with any of the ones I had in my non-vegan days! So I don’t get all the mockery about this. They always say they respect this and that but then as soon as the word “vegan” comes in the laughs and jokes abound. Plain rude and condescending, imo. “Haha! My dinner is better than yours. And you know why? Cause it’s MeAt”. Wow.
