    It's a really useful thing, it's the first time i buy something from pmdg and I'm not disappointed. It's the first time in the sim we can do a long haul flight without the need to leave our pc running during 10 hours for nothing.

    I think it's funny, that the some of the same people saying, that time compression is not realistic, say what they do in cruise: Laundry, dishes, workout, sleeping. For me, the fact, that it runs so smooth and stable is one of the main reasons (beyond others) why I almost exclusively fly PMDG.

  • @jarekp4421
    @jarekp4421 Месяц назад +6

    This is really great! I am a big fan of time compression and this is as good as it gets. There are some planes that can fly 8x on straight parts, especially if you take away vertical guidance (787 will do it if you offset cruse altitude and set vertical mode to vs and then to 0). Looking forward to fly this one as soon as I am back from my travels - already bought it, couldn’t resist.

    PMDG 737 does fine at 4x, and even short bursts of 8x, if you slow it down for turns. Leonardo Maddog turns better, but kinda starts porpoising at 8x. I’m really glad PMDG actually designed this one to follow track at higher sim rates.

    Its a shame that most virtual Airlines still don't support Time Accel. I think Walker Air Transport ist the only im in where this is possible.
    I never understood why VA rather have people AFK fly the whole night in sleep instead of having the pilot awake watching the plane in time accel.
    Thanks for die explanations for the 777. Will certainly make use of it. Have been doing Turkish Airlines the last days where she has some short haul usage sometimes.

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  29 дней назад +6

      That's part of the reason why I don't fly for VA's either anymore. They all usually have what they percieve as what I like to call "their realism". Some deduct points if you fly 251 knots below FL100, let alone if ATC instructs higher speeds. Others give you more and more points, the "softer" you touch down - while all flight manuals explicitly tell you not to. "The smoothness of a landing is no criteria of a good landing" (Boeing, Airbus, insert any other manufacturer!). I still remember my last ever VA flight. Dubai - Los Angeles, back in the day in P3D. At 30ft in the flare Active Sky gave me a gust downwards. The plane slammed into the ground at 800fpm and there was nothing I could do against it.
      16 flight hours got rejected because of that software bug, which I literally had zero influence on. I even included that info in the flight report and it was a known bug at the time. Nobody cared.
      No thanks, ever since then I just used my own flight tracking software (first that one from Matt Davies - forgot the name by now - then Sim Tool Kit Pro). Nowadays I do not even track anymore, I know how to judge a landing and simply have fun flying. lol

  • @gopherch2754

    Nice explanation, also for the time planning. What I usually do is try to arrive at least at the real world time. So I would backdate the departure time to the time of the expected arrival in real time minus flight time. So let's say I start my simming experience at 13.00z, have a slot of 3h available and would expect an arrival at 16.00z. Then I would put the departure for a 6h flight to 10.00z (16z - 6h). I would then "play around" with time compression to catch up the time in the 3h available and arrive at 16.00z real time and thus can possibly join for example a vatsim arrival and have the corresponding weather, lighting effects etc. I know, the vatsim controller wouldn't know at what time I'm flying in the sim but it just feels off to hear the guy say good morning when in the sim it's already evening -.- I don't know if that makes sence, but it gives me something to play around during cruise and a challenge to catch up as exactly as possible :-)

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  29 дней назад +1

      That's an interesting approach for sure! Haven't thought about it that way.
      Since MSFS does not support history weather though I'm wondering why you couldn't just use VATSIM anyway, even if the actual time is different from the sim time?

    Hi Emi, thanks for this video. I also find time compression very appealing. One thing I noticed is that because of the slight deviations of altitude, the fuel consumption is larger. I guess it is hard to estimate, but what do you think will be a reasonable amount of additional fuel to compensate?

    Hi there…..do you know how to remove the speed restrictions or speed limiter in which you’ll notice the red blocks on the airspeed in the primary flight displays. So usually at certain speed like let’s say 340knots you can’t fly past 340 knots in which doing so will cause the aircraft to go over speed and the autopilot disconnected…so is there a way to remove the speed restrictions or speed limiter in the plane’s FMC to let the plane fly beyond 340knots?

I have never used time compression in MSFS, but thanks to your informative video, I am going to give it a try out. If nothing else, it will allow me to do more varied flights to different destinations, probably leading to spending more time in this fantastic and beautiful PMDG product! What an aeroplane this one is! All the best and thanks again. 🙂🙂🙂
