2021 is the year that Fox opened the floodgates and let their engineers go wild. We see more changes in the product line-up than I’ve ever seen in a single launch, and none of them are superfluous. Almost everything has been altered, and in big ways. From the X2 to the DHX2, every part of everything has been assessed, scrutinized, and fully revised. But most exciting, in my mind, are Fox’s forks. Many of these changes span all the more gravity oriented forks (36, 38, and 40), but we are going to focus on the new kid on the block, the Enduro specific, long travel Fox 38 fork.

I will be keeping my 36 Kashima with a grip 2 and 170mm vorsprung smashpot coil conversion, which is a huge upgrade.
I hate it when I'm just about to get to the end of my stroke and I get some pressure buildup that prevents me from achieving full travel! Blue forks is a painful condition.

If its oval inside than you cant fit oneup tools?
Great question. The oval part is at the bottom, near the crown, so I anticipate there'd be no problem running the EDC tool, which only sits higher up. That said, I have not actually tried it.

I seem to be in the minority in that I like more high speed compression damping than low speed. I usually ride my Fox 40 with low speed either open or 2-3 clicks in from open and high speed 6-8 clicks in from open which keeps it active off the top and a nice soft yet firm feeling mid stroke. It helps keep the fork riding higher in the travel too. Just my two cents

What is travel size of the fork?

Ok so, if 32 is for XC, 34 is for trail, 38 is for Enduro, for what is then 36?
That would be the long expired 'all mountain'.
Yea, all starts to get a little muddled, a little silly. As Fox delineates it, 32 is XC, 34 is trail, 36 is All-Mountain, 38 is Enduro, and 40 is DH. At the end of the day, they're all for biking, and there is a ton of overlap between them, especially the 34, 36, and 38.

If you want a long travel bike, just buy a DH bike and swap the drivetrain because enduro is getting so similar to DH and you may as well get the full 200 mm
